The saga of the Graingers and the Clarks continues in Twin Lake/Holton in both the 19th and the 21st centuries. Daniel has disappeared from 1881 and is back home in his own era, where he meets a strangely familiar woman in the cemetery named Virginia. They discover they have much in common as they dig through the files and papers of their own family histories. Will this woman discover the secret of time travel he has managed to keep so well hidden? Will she disrupt the lives of Fran and Dora in the 1880s once she suspects the truth? How does Daniel feel about the Dora lookalike? As time in 2025 progresses, the same moon of the 21st century shines down on the people of 1881. Mavis moves through her pregnancy while living at the Grainger home. Unsure of where she fits in and what is to become of her life, she struggles to find her place. Ruth becomes aware that another man is interested in her. He is charming and younger and is giving the doctor a run for his money. Now with two suitors she must make a decision on what is in her best interests. There is a threat at the Luke Grainger household that could change everything in their family dynamics. Immediate action is necessary.Wade finds himself in a bit of a financial bind at the mercantile. If things don’t change soon he must swallow his pride and ask for help. The only place to go is to his nemesis. And a new mystery emerges when Mercy receives a telegram she did not have a chance to read. And as she has often said, 'No good news ever comes from South Dakota.'
Jane O'Brien discovered her love of writing at the age of ten when she wrote her first ten-chapter book in pencil on notebook paper. She passed it around to all of her friends at school and told them she wanted to be an author. And that planted the seed. O'Brien's career life has been varied. She was a piano teacher for over 50 years, a librarian, and a professional proofreader. She is also interested in genealogy, having worked on her own family tree, as well as her husband's, for over 40 years, which helps to color most of her novels. Today, as a grandmother, Jane is finally fulfilling her lifelong dream, after successfully having her thirty-fifth book published, which includes two trilogies, one six-book series, three Christmas novellas, and two Amazon best-selling time slip series. She lives in West Michigan and writes romance with a little history, mystery, and family entanglements, all set in her part of the state. The stories she weaves are about family and the intricate connections of relatives, past and present.
Virginia and Daniel was going to visit the past where their ancestors live. They found that DNA helps to time travel. Virginia ended in the wrong place separated from Daniel. At least she knew where to find him but getting there may be a problem.
I am on book 6 I find these relaxing to read, I like the characters. It’s a nice balance against the stuff being posted in the media. Escapism on my phone. Couple things that proof reading missed where the wrong name was inserted.
Readers are eagerly waiting to get the latest book in Jane O’Brien A Slip in Time series. Book 6 in this Time Travel Romance series continues the delight for readers as it sweeps them away to the bucolic life of Twin Lakes, Michigan, 1881.
Author O’Brien is to be commended for creating six compelling and readable books involving over 50 characters, as of Yesterday’s Moon. (There are also 3 named dogs and one cat, plus assorted cows, goats, horses and chickens.) I don’t know how she keeps track of it all, but I do know that her fans care about each person.
Jane O’Brien has also designed 6 appealing book covers with 6 enticing titles that draw the reader in to that first page and chapter. The title of Book 6, “Yesterday’s Moon”, really mesmerized me. I think we can all relate to the feeling of peering up at a golden moon and wondering if a loved one somewhere else is gazing at the same glowing orb. And in this book, we have characters from 2025 and 1881 pausing to ponder the same harvest moon. Isn’t that amazing!
So, what happens in Book 6, Yesterday’s Moon? I can assure all who love these stories that in 1881, Fran and Luke, and Dora and Wade are still in love and enjoying the pleasures of married and family life. The Grainger family has a lot going on. Ruthie is growing up and in the mood for a beau. The twins are changing, too. Mavis had an unfortunate time in Book 5 and is dealing with life in this book. Ned London and his new wife are prospering.
We get to know some other characters a bit better. Mercy Brody at the Boarding House is a wonderful addition to the book. The new Doctor is featured more- not sure about him! And there’s a new young gent in town- Marcus Winchel who will be a star, I’m sure! A big plot development is that in 2025 Daniel Kent meets a Clark cousin and a hot romance starts!
I always say that each book in the series is the best and so yes, Yesterday’s Moon is the best. If you’ve been keeping up with the series, get ready for a story that you won’t want to put down. If you haven’t stared the series- you can have the pleasure of binge-reading the entire series!
Thanks to the author for an advance digital review copy. This is my honest review.
Several new characters were introduced in this book. Ginny is an especially interesting one and Daniel finds her especially captivating. She is looking for her cousins, Dora and Francine. Life has moved on in Twin Lake. Some have fallen in love, some have passed on, but life is always a challenge in 1881. Primitive medicine, crop failures, new concepts and all life’s surprises to be contended with. It has been such fun to meet and get to know all of these characters.
Feel like a middle book. New characters added and developed, Ginny seems pushy, her and Daniel connect. Ginny has an open mind and seems to get straight to the truth fast.
Ruth’s courtship takes a turn, not sure I like how Marcus edges out the doctor.
Mercy’s “nephew” enters from stage left and the mystery takes entire book to circle to the start of the real story.
Fran and Luke have a family strengthening after fear and sadness and a trip to Grand Rapids.
Daniel ends the book with Ginny and him begin traveling that is explained to family as camping.

I absolutely love this book series. So what I love most is that it follows the lives of varies people/families and time periods without it being confusing at all. The book has a very nice flow to it and easy to read. This book series started off with two sisters and learning a little history of their family and it expands from there over the course of 6 books. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, fun, romantic, suspenseful, time travel book series this a MUST READ!!!!!
I love this time slip series the characters are warm and real. I can't wait for the next in the series. The area they are set in michigan fascinates me so much I would love to visit and exp!ore some of the places mentioned. I won't give the story away as I'm sure other reviews give a better outline of the p!ot than I can. All I will say is start reading her first book in the series you will be hooked. hurry up Jane with the next one can't wait.
What a series! This story focuses on how courting in the 1800’s goes, how families help one another without expecting anything in return, what life is like in 2025, and a new romance. Jane O’Brien spins a great story that really makes the reader want to learn about life in the 1800’s and how it parallels the 2020’s, as well as the differences. In this book, Daniel is focused on a lot. As he meets a Clark cousin, falls in love, and together they explore genealogy. Another good read!
It was a bit difficult to remember what I read a long while back and there are many characters to remember. The families are true to nature and the time they lived in. These characters have been developed nicely throughout the first 5 books and now the sixth. I will read the rest of the series while all is fresh in my mind and enjoy it as I have thus far.
Couldn't put it down. I don't know how I'm going to make it until book 7 comes out! I have fallen in love with everyone, and can't wait to find out what happens next! Jane O'Brien is an amazing author. I highly recommend A Slip in time series to anyone that loves time travel. If you won't already, read Jane O'Brien books and you will!
O'Brien never disappoints. Ideas fresh. Plot intriguing. Characters believable. I love the idea of time travel and the author is very detailed in her approach to the theory. You don't just read O'Brien's books, you live inside them. I would recommend the Yesterday's series to any reader from 21 to 121. She's just that good!!
I’m in love with this series and all the characters. What a fabulous adventure the time travelers go through and how much love and friendship help them overcome struggles they never dealt with in their time. The book and series is so well written that I felt I was there with them. I highly recommend this book.
I just finished all 6 books in A Slip in Time series. Time travel series are so much fun for me. I get a kick out of it. It was clever of the author to put her books within the books. I was wondering when she would comment on her recent time travel herself. hehehe. Very fun. Thanks. Deborah Menenberg, Author of UNIQUELY STELLA
Each book gets better and better. When I was about 75% through this book I started hoping there was more books to come. I thank you Jane you do not disappoint. I'll do my best to wait patiently for book 7.
I breezed through this book as I have the others. Smooth transition between books. Love catching up on all the characters and meeting the new ones. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Wow, what a change. I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait for the next one to come out. I can just imagine how Daniel and our new character’s roles play out. It’s such an exciting series. Till the next one....
Love this series. It was like meeting up with old friends, love the characters in this story. I wish I did not devour this book so quickly, but I could not put it down. The good news is looks like there will be a book 7 and some new characters. Can’t wait. Keep writing Jame O’Brien. 😀📚📚📚
This book was an enjoyable read as has been the series. I enjoy the time travel construct, how it weaves in and out of the characters lives and the story details along the way. Highly recommend.
Once again I am amazed at the story line. It keeps twisting and turning and you end up somewhere you have no idea how you got there. I can’t wait to read book six and see what happens next.
I have read and enjoyed each book. As the books continue, more characters have been added. Each character has evolved with their own storyline that flows perfectly within the story as a whole. I recommend this series and recommend beginning with book one.
O’Brien has done it again! Her captivating time travel series continues to evolve with such interesting characters and storyline twists, one just can’t wait for the next chapter. Yesterday’s Moon is perhaps better than the last, but excellence in reading continues with the latest. The author has a natural way of taking the story to and fro in time. Her characters experience love and passion in a text that suggests, and leaves matters to the reader’s imagination. I find it hard to select my favorite character and just about then, she introduces another to follow and begin to favor! I believe part of their development is enhanced by O’Brien’s command of the historical detail she adds. CAUTION: do not read Yesterday’s Moon before you have read the previous books in this series. Start with Yesterday’s Tears for a most enjoyable experience to pass your time in this pandemic! You don’t want to miss one chapter of these adventures created by Jane O’Brien. I have been given an advanced review copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
It was nice to read about Frannie and Dora again, and their husbands Luke and Wade. The book was a little late coming out, and I forgot about it, thinking I would receive a notification of some sort. I did not, but I did notice the book while doing an unrelated search. I forgot some of the back stories, so I hope the next book isn’t far off. The book was historically accurate according to the Internet searches I performed. It was good getting to know some of the other characters better.
WOW!!!! Jane O'Brien did it again!!! Another story that will! keep you glued to the book. I absolutely cannot wait until the next one is ready. This author, writes amazing stories that keeps you coming back for more. Thank you for writing these awesome stories. I appreciate your great talent. May God bless you abundantly in everything you do!!!
