This is a Christmas Romance, and this is part of the Seasonal Singles series. I love the characters in this book, and the main character was so great. I loved the main character in this book and how she is always saying/doing the wrong thing. I follow the romance in this book to be fast moving and so cute. This book is a fast read, but it is a cute and fun Christmas story. I really enjoyed reading this book. I won a Kindle edition of this book from a Goodreads Giveaway, but this review is my own feelings about the book.
Fantastic read!!! I won this book in a contest. This was my first time reading this author but definitely not my last!!! This was a fun story. I really enjoyed Lexi's "foot in mouth moments.". I've already pre-ordered the next 3 books in this series. Looking forward to them coming out.
Warming My winter heart is a contemporary Romance. The events of this story happen around the holiday season. It follows the perspective of Lexi, who has not been home in several years after a breakup, but when her mom messages her that he has died. She comes home for the season and to pay her respects, but a turn of events leaves her shocked, betrayed, and angry. Lexi ends up dog sitting for her best friend instead, who lives on a tree farm, where she keeps running into the sexy farm hand. This Romance is very G rated, I felt that this story was ok, and it felt more like a contemporary story instead of Romance. There really were not any elements of a budding romance happening. Lexi kept running into John the farm hand and having a polite conversation or help out of an awkward situation, but no description of feelings, actions or inner thoughts of any type of attraction until the very end. Then it felt rushed and all of a sudden, they love each other. It was more focused on past experiences still affecting them or how they grew from them. John the love interest popped in and out of the story. We only got to know him from other characters, I had no real interest in him and did not really get a sense of him. There was not a lot happening in this story and I was a bit disappointed. I liked the setting on the tree farm and the small-town vibes. This story was fine, but it did not capture my interest. I was bored at times, and Lexi and John felt more like neighbors than a couple. I received this advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
You know it’s a bad breakup when your mom lies and tells you that your ex-fiancé died in a car accident. Oof. You know it’s REALLY bad when your friends are in on the lie too. Whoa!
This was a sweet & cozy romance novel which is perfect for the winter season. In this series you’re always guaranteed a HEA.
This book had a great cast of characters. Except Ian, but he was a good villain.
What a great novella! And I am all about a Christmas love story! I have to say, the best part of this book was the karate chop!!! Haha. I laughed uncontrollably the first couple of chapters, it was a strong start, but it lost some steam in the middle and leveled off. I loved the main character in this book, she is smart, quirky, and definitely puts her foot in her mouth multiple times (kinda like me).
This was a cute story! But it was way too short. This shouldn’t be counted as a finished work. It should be considered a short story because it was just too short. That’s my only complaint
Warming My Winter Heart by Michelle Cornish is a delightful and sweet romance read!
I'm the kind of girl who likes to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a warm cup of tea and a great contemporary book that will whisk me away into a story. Warming My Winter Heart did just that! This adorably fun romance novel will let you escape and have a little soap opera-esque drama in your life as well.
Lexi Blair is coming home from L.A. because she heard her ex-fiancé has died. Even if they didn't get along, the poor girl is upset over this. Yet, surprises are bound for this girl because he's not actually dead... and he wouldn't mind getting back together. This nasty scheme implemented by people in her close circle is just one of many dramatic plot twists that will have you glued to the edge of you seat and enjoying the soap opera-ness this book has to offer! But it gets better guys! There might be another handsome man waiting in the wings that Lexi can chase after... John is just the guy for her, but he's got his own problems to deal with.
I really liked this book! It's a soft, sweet, contemporary book that is easy to read and moves at a fast pace. The romance doesn't start until about halfway through the book so it's also quite the slow burn. The world develops, we meet the characters and then we get into the real action.
Other positives in list form:
1. A puppy named Prince William - because why not? He's adorable, he's got an awesome name and he's quite the trouble maker.
2. Oh Canada! This book is set in a fictional Canadian city but it's a great Canadian read regardless! I love supporting Canadian authors and I love reading Canadian fiction. Have I said Canadian enough for you yet? No? How about one more "Canadian" to make a statement?
3. Accounting and Marketing are mentioned in this book as careers. For some reason, I rarely come across romance novels that have those careers. It's kind of random, but to me it was a bonus!
4. The world and characters are not perfect. Don't you hate those characters that are Mary Sue's and seem to have it all going for them? These characters have real problems and act real. I felt like I would actually now some of these characters if they magically popped out of the book and came alive. I like stories where the people are realistic and relatable. Not everyone has a perfect, little life!
5. The best friend's name is Briar. I am Briar. This is mega cool! Other than Sleeping Beauty (Briar Rose), I rarely see the name Briar pop up anywhere. It's goofy, but again - you gotta find the small things in life that make you happy.
6. The book is about 200 pages long, which for me is the perfect length for a dramatic romance. The book doesn't feel like it's too short and it doesn't feel like it drags on. The length is literally perfect in my mind. It's also not so big and daunting that you don't want to read it. The book is manageable - which sounds awful in writing but is a huge bonus for readers like me.
7. You can easily put this book down and jump back into it later. Because the book is not overly complicated, it's one of those books that if you don't want to binge read it (why wouldn't you though? It's amazing), then you can set it down for a couple days and come back to it. I also like that as a reader who tends to have a lot going on (and I read this over the holidays, so as you can imagine things can get a little crazy).
8. The cover is adorable! And did I mention there's a tree farm in the book? Yeah. This book has so many Canadian winter vibes. I love it!
Overall, this book is spectacular, fantastic and marvellous!
I, of course, am a little biased because a character is named after me (yay best friend Briar!) and I was mentioned in the author's notes (literally one of my life goals!) but I still think it's an amazing read. I highly recommend it to romance lovers seeking an easy read with lots of drama. Michelle Cornish is a writer to watch out for! Seriously, her books need more attention. I'll be grabbing more of Michelle's book as soon as possible. Join me in this adventure! Grab this book and chat (or gossip) with me about it!
Five out of five stars!
I received a free copy of this book from the author, Michelle Cornish, in exchange of an honest review.
This is my first book by Michelle Cornish and I really enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions and rooting for Lexi, the main character. Lexi hasn't been home for Christmas in a few years and her parents and best friend really want her to come this year. She hasn't wanted to come home since her ex fiancé, Ian, broke up with her at her best friend's wedding. They tell her that her ex, Ian, has died as they know she'll come home for the funeral. Lexi works as an agent to sports stars in LA. When Lexi arrives home she's met with a huge surprise! Her ex fiancé isn't dead and he's in church next to her!!! She's furious with her mother for lying to her!
Briar is Lexi's best friend and she's married to Dax. They own a Christmas tree farm that Briar's parents left to her. Business has been very slow and they're struggling. John has been helping them spruce things up and bought a couple of horses to start sleigh rides around the property. They've helped get people excited as well as a greenhouse filled with various flowers and plants to sell during the offseason. Lexi is visiting Briar and Dax when they receive a call about Dax's mom. She's had a heart attack and they need to get on a plane right away. Briar and Dax have recently bought a puppy who still has no name. They ask if Lexi could stay at the house while they're gone to take care of the puppy. Lexi agrees to stay as she's still furious with her mom.
Briar and Dax told Lexi that John would be coming by to work in the barn and do some things on the property. When Lexi meets John she's instantly drawn to him even though he's a bit older. John is healing from something in his past and the farm is where he comes to find peace. The puppy loves John and loves to play in the barn with him. Lexi has named the dog Prince William and she thinks the dog likes it. Will Lexi find happiness in Little City, her hometown? Will it be enough to keep her from returning to LA? Will John and Lexi end up together? Will Briar and Dax be able to turn the business around? I really like the characters in the book and wanted the book to go a bit longer to discover more about each. A sequel to this book would be a definite possibility and I would love to see that happen. I rate this book 4 stars and it will warm your heart. I'd like to thank NetGalley and SolVin Creative for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for a fair review.
Lexi is going home for the Christmas holidays and is prepared to go for her ex-fiancé’s funeral, until her mother says it has been cancelled. Lexi arrives to find out her mother made up the story of her ex-fiancé being dead in order to get her to come home for a visit. She is so angry that she runs away to Briar’s (her best friend) farm for refuge, only to find out Briar and her husband, Dax, have a family emergency they need to leave town for. Lexi is tasked with ensuring the farm still operates while they’re gone, along with the help of Dax’s cousin, John. With many antics from a rambunctious puppy, Lexi finds her happiness again.
While this book is advertised as a romantic Christmas novella, the only thing it is not is romantic. The vibes between John and Lexi are nonexistent, even when John tries to give Lexi compliments. Lexi, as someone who is proficient in marketing and PR, is little more than a bumbling child, sticking her foot in her mouth at every turn and having little tantrums. Lexi’s mother, a recovering alcoholic, is about as cognitively warped as her daughter is, and her poor father has to deal with them both. There are side stories of how John came to live in this small town as well as the fallout from Lexi’s mother’s relationship with her sister, but these are glossed over and not explained in their entirety either. Even the ex-fiancé is a jerk, with no explanation why he and Lexi split up nor an apology from either is had. At the most, the animals have more characterization than the people in this story. Unfortunately, even what should have been a sappy ending fell flat.

I HATE giving negative feedback, but I simply did not like this book… at all.
I almost DNF at 50%, but figured it was such a quick read that I could keep going to see if anything ever happens. It should have been a sign that if nothing had happened at 50%, that if anything did happen it would be rushed.
I think what makes me mad is that this story had so much potential. If it was anything like the actual description, it would’ve been a really good book. However, the description was more details than any part of the book.
This should be considered an outline and not a completed work.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is absolutely pure fluff, but in a very enjoyable way. It’s short and sweet. The shortness is a double-edged sword, as I really wish I got to learn more about some of the characters other than our protagonist, but it did make it a lovely speedy read. Overall, it felt like a hallmark Christmas movie to me: Sweet, Enjoyable, and made me smile (and maybe swoon a little bit for our hometown hunk character).
Such a cute romance. A quick read to delight your holiday needs. It gives off happy, warm vibes. I loved the characters. A great story that does include a tough topic. A must read holiday treat.
If you plan on reading this please do yourself a favor and skip it!
If this book wasn’t as short as it was I would have definitely DNFed it. The plot was so weak, the characters were so forgettable, and the writing itself was so poor. There were so many holes throughout this story that it felt like it was an outline rather than an actual book. I do feel bad writing such a negative review but this book ain’t it lol.
Author if you are reading this you should stop right now. First let me start off my saying I love Hallmark Christmas movies. I love Christmas books that are like Hallmark Christmas movies. Thsi was like the worst possible version of one of those stories. Cause this book was really bad, the situations and what happens is really messed up, but it was bad in a way I loved. In a way I got so much enjoyment out of it. I was debating whether I should rate it based on my enjoyment of it, which would be 4.5 stars, or actual quality, which would be 1 star, but went in between because I was indecisive.
So this story is the story of a really messed up family. The synopsis sounded awful in a way that I had to see how this played out. I mean your mom fakes your ex's death to get you to come home? How? Why? How did she not know it is fake? I had so many questions. Well...it is super messed up. The mom and best friend are in on it, mom used to work for the newspaper so she made a legit newspaper obituary for him and sent it to her!! Like....that is commitment. And she cried her heart out to her bestie who never said anything. Because...well they did it because they missed her! She hasn't been home in 3 years! So obviously you have to do something, like fake someone's death! I mean there are no other options....
Now at first our main character is rightfully angry about this, but she is WAY too forgiving. She finds a note from bestie that bestie never sent saying how much she misses main character and well then she just forgives everything! She tells them they have nothing to be sorry for when they apologize because the whole situation is not fucked up at all. I mean totes normal. I just...she forgives everyone WAY too quickly without anyone even trying to gain her forgiveness! No groveling, noting just oh it's totes okay, you all missed me so I understand. I mean...no. No. no no no no no. That is not okay. It is unhinged how these people acted. And to top it off the mom is an alcoholic and starts drinking again after main character storms off so of course main character blames herself for her mom falling off the wagon. Like no. This whole book was full of wtf moments, moments that make no sense, and an emotionally abusive mom that is just forgiven instantly. Yey!
Oh and then we also have a love interest who is as interesting as a piece of cardboard. They barely spent any time together and there was no development of their relationship. It just suddenly they were in love or something. I mean I read this a week or 2 ago and I cannot even remember anything about love interest....
So yeah this book was a complete mess. It was not well written, the characters were not good, there was no connection between everyone, and main character does all the emotional labor and forgives some pretty unforgivable things. Because they missed her so everything is totes okay. Objectively it is a terrible story, but it was so bad enjoyed reading it.

This was a first time read for me by this author, but it won't be my last. The story was well-written and cute and I was pulled into the fun and drama right from the start. Lexi decides to come home after learning her ex has died in a car accident. Only when she arrives, she gets the surprise of her life and sees that he's not actually dead. That was just a lie her mother told her to get her to come back home for Christmas. Now, you know when a lie of that magnitude is told, the break-up had to be all kinds of bad. Adding to all that drama, her ex might also want to get back together with her. But he may actually have some serious competition. John works at the Christmas tree farm Lexi's best friend Briar and her husband own. Business has been slow and John has been helping them spruce it up a bit to attract more customers. When Lexi is out visiting her friend, Briar and her husband have to leave right away due to a family emergency. Briar asks Lexi if she could stay at the house and take care of their puppy while they are away and she agrees. She meets John when he comes by for work. She is instantly drawn to him, but John is dealing with his own past hurts and comes to the farm to find peace. Could it be they might find peace with each other? This cozy and sweet romance will warm your heart. It has wonderful, endearing characters you can't help but fall in love with, and plenty of fun and humor that's sure to bring a smile to your face and make you laugh. A charming and delightful story that I am glad to have had the opportunity to read! I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This was a super short read, easily finished in under an hour.
I really wish the plot had played out like the blurb, instead it is an insta-love situation, with the main female character Lexi, falling for the main male character, John, after only a handful of short conversations, she doesn't even know his background before deciding she is in love with him.
There were a couple of plot holes, but overall it was a cute Christmas read that left me wanting more.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.
As a lover of all things Christmas, from music to decorations to novels to movies, I was naturally drawn to this novella. What I had hope was going to be a warm and fuzzy romantic Christmas read was the most baffling and messed up story I have ever read.
This book is apparently a part of a series called “Seasonal Singles,” but I have not read any of them yet. The author employed a rather interesting twist on the usual “meddling mother” plot device. Lexi’s mother tells her that her former fiancé, Ian, died. Diabolically, her mother lied to her in an attempt to trick her into coming back home for Christmas. Naturally, Lexi finds out her mother lied and flees to her best friend’s farm. There she meets John, the farm hand. They barely interact, but magically they fell in love!
I wanted to believe in this romance but I just could NOT. Every plot twist was just ridiculous and unbelievable! First, I don’t know how Lexi fell for her mother’s INSANE trick to get her to come home for Christmas! Then, I don’t understand HOW she and John fell in love when they barely had any interaction whatsoever. I started to wonder if maybe I was missing parts of the book? Overall, I just did not enjoy this novella at all.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
Reading the “warming my winter heart” definitely warmed my heart with PW stealing the show. This is a short novella following Lexi who is home for Christmas for a funeral, for an ex of hers. Upon arriving from LA it turns out the funeral was cancelled because the ex is alive. Disappointed Lexi hides away and dogsits while her friend is away to look after her mother law. While left at the Christmas Tree Farm she is left to look after the dog and reflects on her own future, where a mystery man by the name John Johnson comes every day to check on the horses, and maybe also check on Lexi?
I rated this book 3.5/5
I loved that this book was set in Kelowna BC, a place I love so much. For this being a short story Lexi has growth throughout the book which is important. PW is my favourite, even when he ran away. The writing is good and simple, perfect of a story like this. My issues are that the ending felt very sudden and there wasn't much a climax. The characters need a bit more of physical descriptions so I can try and picture them. I do recommend this book, tropes/topics includes Age gap, alcoholism, forced proximity, and Christmas story. I received this ARC book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a short, sweet love story this is the book for you. My only complaint with the book is that it is too short which prevents there being much in the way of plot or character development. I liked Lexi and understood why she would be so angry with her mother (especially since her mother acted like she was the crazy one when the first time they ran into Ian). But because the story was so condensed there was never really time for those two characters to hash things out. Loretta's alcoholism is kind of just thrown in there and never fully discussed. Because there was no development with that it really wasn't necessary to the plot. You get a nice glimpse of romance between Lexi and John, but again, because the book is so short there wasn't much time to show that romance develop. We don't get to see much of them together. I realize it sounds like I'm saying I didn't like this book, but I did. I just wanted more to it. It's more like an outline of a story rather than a fully developed one.
Synopsis: Lexi has been able to avoid her hometown ever since her bestie’s wedding. It should have been a joyous occasion except for the fact that her boyfriend Ian decided to break up with her by leaving her a note at her spot at the table. She thinks she’s over him but a message from her mom sends her in a tailspin. In this story, we follow Lexi on her emotional visit home over the holidays where a reunion with people from her past makes her question why she ran away to LA.
Review: I absolutely loved this story. My only problem with it is that it is too short! I wanted to spend more time with Lexi and John and really get to see them fall in love. Their love story went by too fast for me. Other than that, I loved the tree farm ( I wish I got to read more about it too) and the horses. I could picture the sleigh ride and wished I could have taken the tour myself. Not exactly Christmassy vibes but there is cozy wintery descriptions that make up for it. I had so much fun reading this! It’s a great little holiday romance!
3 years ago, Lexi ran away to LA from her small hometown after her fiance unexpectedly broke off their engagement. Now, she's flying home for the holidays... to attend his funeral.
But not everything is as it seems and Lexi is left to deal with the fall out. Thankfully, she has her best friend Briar and husband Dax and can stay at their Christmas tree farm whilst she processes all she has learnt.
When she meets John, Dax's older cousin who works on the farm, sparks fly! Will Lexi contemplate a new love story in her home town?
This book was short and sweet but I was hooked! The writing style created such a clear story line and I connected with Lexi's thoughts and feelings very early on. It's a clean romance and I appreciated the detail is regards to her family and friends relationships also. I'll be reading the other books in the 'series' (although they can all be read as stand alone books).
Thank you to Netgalley, author Michelle Cornish and SolVin Creative for the ARC copy to read and review.
Lexi, a sports publicist in LA, rushes home to Little City after her mother informs her that her ex-fiance has died. She's been away for 3 years, ever since the breakup. After a fight with her mother, Lexi goes to stay with her friends Briar and Dax. She ends up staying there alone when Dax's mother has a heart attack and they go to be by her side. While staying there, she meets Dax's cousin, John Johnson, who works on their tree farm and takes care of their horses.
This story started out so well, and I had high hopes for it, since I love a good Christmas romance. It was fine, but it felt like the love story between Lexi and John came out of nowhere, Sure, they eyed each other and occasionally interacted, but I didn't feel it. There was no tension, no will-they-or-won't-they. The other parts of the story worked out in a satisfying way, but, as a whole, it felt like it was lacking. I think if there was a little more to the romance, it would have been a nice, well-rounded story.

This is a part of Cornish's Seasonal Singles series but can easily be read / listened to as a standalone. I have to say I enjoyed this one more than Fall. The narration was good but again, could have been better, I think. Barron sounds more comfortable narrating our main characters but still stilted at times. Speaking of our main characters - they are Lexi and John. I love the meddling mom and the small town feel of this book. A sweet and clean romance where Lexi moved to another city to escape the pain left from her loser ex fiancé. I love the initial run in she had - at church no less and the spectacle made was hilarious. I would have loved more outrageous moments like that although I do think Cornish tried with Lexi being a "foot in mouth" kinda gal. Overall I liked it and I enjoyed the teaser for our Spring season read / listen!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Being manipulated into coming home for Christmas for the first time in three years is NOT the way that I would want to spend Christmas. This novella is a sweet and sassy story of the holiday season, with a manipulative mother, a support of father, a best friend who not only helped manipulate but needs your help with an emergancy, a clingy asshole ex and a sexy older horse caretaker. Yeah, I would say that makes for an interesting story, through in a cute little puppy and this is a story that will stir your emotions. This is a bell pepper romance story that has a lot of silly moments throughout the whole story.
I would rate this story at a 4 out of 5 stars, because I prefer full length novels and don't like being rushed through a story without a lot of build up or conclusion. Having said that I did enjoy this story and would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a fun feel good Christmas short story romance.
I hope this helps you find your next Tantalizing Tome!
Lexi Blair hasn’t been home in a long while. Not after her ex-fiancé broke up with her on a paper napkin. She left to California and never looked back.
She’s back in Little City for Christmas to attend her ex-fiancé funeral and just as luck would have it he’s at the Christmas service.
How could her mother lie to her about this? Lexi leaves her parents to stay at her friend Bria house where she ends up pup sitting for them and meets they’re not a good first impression farm worker John.
There is a lot of embarrassing moments, sparks and what if’s. Life keeps throwing curbs at Lexi and tired of her job and life is California where she has no friends or a life she must make a life altering decision.
Give love a chance or go back home.
If you are a sucker for Hallmark movies this book is for you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I devoured this one! Warming my heart was such a cute, quick read. We have all been in a spot where we wanted to runaway, not thinking about how it might affect the people around us. We usually don’t end up doing it though. We’ll Lex did end up going through with it and now she’s back in Little City-literally the name of her hometown😂- and having to deal with a little bit of the aftermath. Definitely felt bad for how they got her back home but sometimes heartache makes us do crazy things.
Not only that but she ends up finding a sexy older man, John Johnson, who’s sings beautifully and always plays for keeps. My heart literally melted for him!🫠 Ian who?
If you’re in a slump this is definitely a way out!

Warming My Winter Heart: A Winter Romance Novella (Seasonal Singles)
By: Michelle Cornish Narrated by: Sally Barron
4 STARS
Lexi gets tricked into going home for Christmas, after she refuses to return. She has to decide who else may be in on the deceit. Lots of things happen to keep the listener guessing what will happen. This was an easy listen for most people, but a few may find some content a bit difficult.
The narration was well done, by Sally Baron. She brought the characters to life.
