Evil spirits? Shadow figures? Ghosts? The Devil? These things could not possibly exist in the physical world. In a rational thinking mind (one fully grounded in logic and common sense) there is no room for such unconventional philosophy. That’s how it had always been for the Chief of Police in Cumberland Springs, Pennsylvania, Glen Crawford. His life was simple. Nothing paranormal or supernatural has ever happened to him or his sleepy little town for that matter. That is, until the night an emaciated body is discovered inside of a backyard garden shed, just outside of town. The assumption by Glen and the other first responders on the scene is that the man is clearly dead. To their astonishment, what they soon discover will change their lives forever.Lauren Rivers is an ICU nurse working the midnight shift at Cumberland Springs Memorial Hospital. She learns that an unidentified man was brought in earlier this evening and is now on the ward in room 337. Immediately upon her first interaction with the man (who is unresponsive and looks as though he’s been dead for at least six months) she experiences a presence surrounding him, something vile and hateful, a force full of disdain and loathing, desperately striving to bring about nothing less than misery and pain upon the world. As the investigation intensifies and details are brought to the surface, all involved begin to realize that this mystery man may be the most evil thing they have ever met. By the intense conclusion of Dire Harvest, all of your beliefs about the world we live in will be challenged and your deepest fears brought to life.
Robert is a horror fiction author originally from Southwest Pennsylvania. His love of all things horror began at a young age while watching Saturday afternoon Universal monster classics with his grandfather and reading Weird Tales Magazine. From there his obsession grew into all things horror in all possible mediums.
His great grandmother (an old-world fortune teller from Eastern Europe) once told him, “You have a demon in you that only you can expel.” It wasn’t until he began writing that he finally understood what she meant.
He has a deep passion for fear and for anything that will make the heart jump or send a shiver up the spine. Haunted houses, old cemeteries, abandoned factories, or deep dark caves. These are the places Robert explores in search of bone-chilling fear. Out of these experiences, he is able to craft stories that open the reader’s eyes to possibilities never before imagined, causing countless hours of lost sleep with the lights on.
I loved this book. I had to keep reading, I had to know what was going to happen next. Evil comes to a small, beautiful and quaint little town. A man that should be dead is not. How is this possible? This book reminded me of Stephen King and Sean Koontz. So, you have to read it. You will love it, I guarantee it.
Dire Harvest Book 1: Zlo is the first book in my three book series (four including the prequel). What happens when evil appears out of no where in a small town full of unsuspecting citizens? Will they overcome it? Or will it destroy them?
The prequel (Darkness from a Whisper) and the first two books in the Dire Harvest series can be purchased at http://www.chilledbones.com
This book was great!I love the way it built up to every event.I love the way they explained the people's emotions and fears. I can't think of anything about this book that I didn't love. Read this book, you will not be disappointed!!!!
This book kept me on my toes, very well written. The way the narrative was, made me want to keep reading and I don’t want it to end. I want to know what happens to the town? What is low going to do next? Who’s next? Loved it, can’t wait to read the next one.
Kept my interest. Read it straight through, didn't want to stop. Chilly and frightening. I love good vs evil stories, and this was even an evil vs evil story. Interesting characters. Quite a few grammatical errors. Looking forward to the next book.
The devil has taken control but only few will see' several will experience the darkness and finally the end will come. Very well written and Robert Ferencz is a good writer giving all the details you could want..I'm waiting on book 2
Wonderful book I got so involved in I couldn't put it down although I hated for it to end. Will message be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series to see what happens next. Great first book by this author!
Loved this book can’t wait for more! Had a good flow to it and kept you interested - read in less that 24 hours… my only complaint is that the next book isn’t out yet …. If that can be considered a legitimate complaint?
This one has a lot of twists and turns. Masterfully written and leaves you wanting for more. I love scary and this one reaches in and grabs your soul. Looking forward to the next two books in this series. Excellent read!
Fantastic installment in the series! The story builds, the backstop answers so many questions but the ENDING! I couldn't stop reading.. super fun, such a good read!
Wasn’t exactly scary but very well written. The way things ( people, places, etc. ) were described, really put pictures in my head. Really enjoyed it...
This book was a refreshingly new plot twist and does a nice job of wrapping up the story. However it is very slow and leaves align of details out of the story
I enjoyed the book immensely. I do wish it hadn't ended so abruptly. It had me captivated, then I felt like the end was written by a different person. Darn!
