My name's Shelby Flynn, witch, college student, and hot-tempered redhead, and I'm in way over my head.

I never set out to save the world, but it seems that's the course Destiny set for me when an angel gifted me with magical powers beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Not that I mind being able to control the elements or blow things up with my mind, but a heads up about my future would have been fantastic. Instead, I fell through a magical doorway straight into the library of a secret academy ran by a fae and guarded by a three-headed hellhound and a talking, fire-breathing monkey named Stu. I realize how far out it sounds, but trust me - I couldn't make it up if I tried.

Now, a coven of dark witches bent on destroying the source of white magic has stolen the Scepter of Life, and I only have six days to recover the remaining components or else they'll succeed. I'm not one to walk away from a fight, but this time, it's not about saving myself or even my family - the fate of the entire world lies squarely on my shoulders.

My task comes with a heavy price tag. Not only do I have to save the people I care about, I have to lie to them while I do it because secrecy is the Celestial Academy's biggest advantage. My long-term boyfriend suspects I'm cheating, and my best friend is stuck in the middle, trying to keep my "real" life from falling apart while I'm off fighting demons, evil witches, and whatever else goes bump in the night.

Am I up for it? I'm not sure, but I have no choice. The elements are mine to control, and I have an ancient Fae and a powerful - and hot - wizard by my side. That will have to be enough.

After all, I'm a Flynn witch, and nobody messes with me or mine.

I was born and raised in the South and even hung my motorcycle helmet in Colorado for a few months. I've always had a touch of wanderlust and have never feared just packing up and going on new adventures, whether in real life or via the pages of a great book.

When I was a little girl, I didn't want to grow up to be a writer—I wanted to raise unicorns and be a superhero. When those gigs fell through, I chose the next best thing: creating my own magical lands filled with adventure, magic, humor, and romance.

I live in Florida with my two dogs and when I'm not writing or reading, I'm racing motorcycles with my taller, more handsome half, hanging out at the beach, or binge-watching anything magical on Netflix.

I'm eternally grateful for all the people who help make my life what is today - friends, readers, family. No woman is an island.

Whipped into shape

The second part of Shelby Flynn's beginning on her path at Celestial Academy find her & partner, Oliver, starting to mesh as a team. But three of the Stones belonging to the Sceptre of Life are still in evil witch Katrina's clutches. The complete Sceptre must be presented to the Mother Goddess in less than a week's time. Otherwise all the good witches magic in the world will be gone. Shelby & Oliver use potions & trackers made by Emma, her BFF to find the hidden evil ones but there are several traps they fall prey to at the first location they find. One ancient evil renegade witch catches Shelby unaware, binding her to drink poison while trash talking the Flynn family. Bad move as the Flynn motto is family first. Shelby's keeping the witch engaged while Oliver slips magic cuffs on her. Three elder witches come and take the crone witch away. Still, the tracker stop in a fairly large area. Will Shelby & Oliver find where the coven have disappeared and rescue the stones before the most important witch ceremony in 100 years?
Shelby may be very much like her sister, Noelle,(Sweet Murder is the 1st book in Noelle's series) with a ferocious loyalty to family and a hard work ethic. Since her path is different though, she is developing as a separate witch of her own. Her bonds are still strong but her destiny takes her further from Keyhole Lake but not forever or far.

One of the top five books I have read in the past few years. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Shelby Flynn is a powerful witch with an angel's touch. She just started at the UGA and she gets recruited right a way to a secret coven that fights for the good in the world and tries to stop the witches and other creatures who practice dark magic and are out to destroy the world as we know it. The dark side have stolen an object and Shelby and her team only have four days to get it back or the world will change forever. The characters in this book are some we have known from the Keyhole Lake series and others are new but they are all super interesting. A book that you really shouldn't miss. Now I am on tender hooks to read book three.

Outstanding action packed urban fantasy series. This series is a spin off of a supernatural cozy mystery series. The younger sister of the Flynn sisters a family a powerful which is from a small town in Georgia. Has gone off to university. While there she is recruited by a secret supernatural superhero/super agent force that fights evil. Follow along as her and the rest of her group and friends fight to save the world from evil and tragedy. Awesome cast of characters great storyline and extraordinarily entertaining. A good book.

I enjoyed the book and the characters, however it was a bit disappointing that we’re led to believe that the celestial group that’s been around for hundreds of years has so few members that relies on a couple of brand new teenagers to save the world. I was pleased to see that characters from the original series were pulled in to make it feel more connected. I’ll read the next book to see if it gets better.

Definitely a darker series

Ok yall, I think this is definitely a darker series than what we got used to with the Witches of Keyhole Lake. However, it's just as good and keeps you drawn in throughout the whole book. I am ready to see where this series will take us and to continue to watch Shelby grow!

entertaining book

This is a spinoff of the witches of keyhole series and like all of them they are an easy read, nicely written and fun. My main complaint has to do with grammar. I wanna and gonna being used constantly by college educated people who otherwise speak well is just plain annoying. I love the two series and I recommend them both to anyone

So close but yet so far!

As if adjusting to college is not hard enough, Shelby and Emma have a whole lot to worry about. So with a good team, and the makings of a plan....we shall see.

This is a great series. I really hope this is more than a trilogy. There is so much to explore . The characters are incredible and the stories are encompassing.

Fun new series

Great new series, adds depth to the magical world, adds new characters and brings in crossover characters. Even though this is set in college, the story doesn't have a young adult feel to it. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Entertaining

This was a quick read, fun and entertaining. It continues immediately after the previous book. The mission isn't over yet but looks like it may end in next book. Then maybe a new one will start. Recommended.

Empowering read

I love all of these books because of the strong and healthy family and friend relationships. Watching Shelby heal from the many losses and injuries in her young life and mature into another strong, loving Flynn woman is a delight.

Brilliant spin off

A spin off worthy of its own series. Enjoyable, engaging and with our favourite characters. Can read alone, or alongside other Flynn witch stories.
