Sitcom ad episodi, nata in casa Audible e distribuita gratuitamente agli iscritti.
La storia parte con l'introduzione di due dei protagonisti, nati e cresciuti all'interno di uno dei rifugi creati in vista dell'armageddon e dal quale nessuno, fino all'inizio della nostra storia, è mai uscito.
Veronica (Gemma Whelan), areampicatrice sociale odiata da tutti, e Gary (Rufus Hound), il corrispettivo dello scemo del villaggio, vengono inviati in missione fuori dal bunker, per scoprire se sulla superficie è rimasta qualche forma di vita e se sia possibile abitarvi.
Ovviamente le cose si mettono subito male, i due vengono rapiti e solo l'intervento di Lady Reaver ( Sindhu Vee), pirata cinica e spietata, e del suo servo mutante Clump (Marek Larwood) permette ai due di non finire in schiavitù.

I sei episodi si snodano ricalcando alcuni topic classici delle avventure post catastrofe, ma sono comunque divertenti e non scontate, soprattutto grazie al carattere dei vari personaggi.
La sottotrama principale, il ritorno al rifugio da cui Veronica e Gary sono partiti, non è completata al termine della serie e spero che Sheltered abbia abbastanza successo per vincere una seconda stagione.

In the post-apocalyptic world two people leave their shelter, in order to... actually keep trying to find their way back to it. The vivid characters have their share of adventures and along the way the listener is being entartained. I found it very funny indeed. When I was listening to this production, I couldn't help imagining the story as some animated cartoon. I had a few laughs now and then.

Fallout meets Young Frankenstein.

Going by the cover, I was not expecting this to be a slapstick post apocalyptic comedy it turns out to be.

Each half hour episode is a self-contained adventure. Great for commuting.

Brilliant. The voice acting, the sound effects, the irreverent humor... This is a great example of an audio book done right. Not recommended for the squeamish.

Well, I would not recommend this as a must read. But, in this age of Big Brother and stuff like that, it is good to understand how people would behave in a post apocalyptic world.
