If only Sam could have looked the other way.

Sam is suddenly promoted to his dream job, chief of IT for MC2, the energy consortium for the entire USA. When he discovers that his predecessor has vanished, he becomes suspicious. Despite warnings from his boss, Sam can’t resist snooping to find out what happened. The more Sam pokes around, the more he realizes that MC2 is hiding something serious.

The suspense increases as Sam teams up with his wife and pastor to unveil one dark secret after another. Trapped in the compound, which is surrounded by razor wire and protected by a militia, they find themselves in a race to escape with their lives. Their only allies seem to be birds, which are acting strangely as if they are trying to help. Pursued by the militia, including an Apache helicopter, is it possible for them to expose these dark secrets to the world? Or will they die?

This author is also published under D.R. Cassady.

Dwain Cassady discovered a love for writing when the home health company he used to work for up and started requiring all documentation be completed the same day. Since folks didn't want to see him for occupational therapy early in the mornings, he started writing while drinking coffee. And 11 and a half books later, he hasn't stopped!

Dwain lives in Gainesville, GA with his wonderful wife and two cats. He holds degrees from Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Medical College of Georgia. One day he hopes to decide what he wants to be when he grows up. His wife doubts that will happen. The cats don’t care so long as he remains a loyal servant and provides plenty of lap time. In addition to writing, Dwain enjoys hiking, woodworking, and reading.

A sweet little adventure that hints at all the things I believe; corporations run America, nature is smarter than we give it/them credit for and my favorite belief of all that when faced with the hard choice, people will do the right thing.

Did not finish. Needs an editor or writer's coach to improve dialogue and grammar. Character's need to be fleshed out.

More showing and less telling.

The plot is there and the suspense builds, but I became frustrated with the above and it did not grab me and keep me reading.

This author has the potential to develop and improve his writing craft. He has the basics and needs to build on this.

good read

I enjoyed the book, it was ok but not hard to figure out how it would end. I guess you have to go to book two to find out the fate of the thousands of people left in the compound.
