Die 14-jährige Enola Holmes - die kleine Schwester von Sherlock Holmes - begibt sich auf die Suche nach ihrer verschwundenen Mutter...
Die Geschichte wird erzählt in einem Comic - das hat mir richtig gut gefallen! Sehr ansprechende Zeichnungen, dazu eine interessante und sehr unterhaltsame Handlung.
Leider endet das Buch quasi mittendrin, so dass schnell Band 2 gelesen werden muss :)

Como amante de absolutamente todo lo que tenga que ver con Sherlock Holmes no podía dejar de leer esta novela gráfica protagonizada por Enola, su hermana. A pesar de estar relacionada con Sherlock y Mycroft, los dos siempre han sido distantes con ella y por eso vive solo con su madre. Pero un día desaparece y Enola tendrá que acudir a sus hermanos para que la ayuden a buscarla. Sin embargo, contrario a lo que espera, sus hermanos pretenden enviarla a un internado y no dejarla investigar la misteriosa desaparición de su madre, así que Enola tomará cartas en el asunto y se escapará para descubrir el paradero de su mamá.
Me gustó muchísimo esta novela gráfica y sus ilustraciones. Creo que Enola es una protagonista súper inteligente y que no se va a dejar mangonear por sus hermanos ni por las sombras tan espesas que caen sobre ella por sus reputaciones. En este caso Enola, que en un principio cree que no sabe nada, se dará cuenta de que tiene muchísimas habilidades que incluso Sherlock envidiaría.
Creo que es una historia perfecta para niños que apenas estén enamorándose de la lectura, sobre todo porque el final queda en punta y vas a tener que, sí o sí, leer el siguiente tomo de estas aventuras cuando salga.

This was a quick read. I really loved the cute water color illustrations. The story was much shorter than the actual book. As I have read the book associated with this so I knew the mystery and the story but I enjoyed the revisit. I think I am going to read all the illustrated books from this series.

Ha sido bonito reencontrarme con Enola Holmes y poder acompañarla nuevamente en sus inicios como investigadora. Mi opinión no ha variado a pesar del paso de los años, así que mantengo todo lo que dije en mi reseña original. No niego que la historia sabe a poco en algunos aspectos, pero las ilustraciones son maravillosas y los personajes logran generar curiosidad. Una novela gráfica breve, intrigante y que te deja con ganas de continuar con la saga.
Primera lectura en octubre de 2020
Una grata sorpresa, eso ha sido esta novela gráfica para mí. Sherlock Holmes nunca me ha interesado demasiado, pero vi el tráiler de la adaptación de las aventuras de su hermana Enola y la verdad es que despertó mi curiosidad. Aunque esta primera novela gráfica es muy introductoria, considero que sabe presentar bien a los personajes y logra crear una buena base de cara a las siguientes partes.
El día en que Enola cumple 14 años, su madre desaparece. Se va sin avisar y deja a Enola totalmente desconcertada. Ni siquiera los miembros del servicio saben qué ha ocurrido, lo único que parece estar claro es que se ha ido por propia voluntad. Sin saber muy bien qué hacer, Enola contacta con Mycroft y Sherlock, sus hermanos mayores, los cuales llevan años alejados de ella y de su madre. Ellos acuden rápidamente a la casa, pero Enola se da cuenta de que lo único que pretenden es imponer su voluntad. Ni siquiera parecen muy interesados en descubrir el paradero de su madre, ellos solo quieren zanjar rápido el tema y que Enola no los moleste.
Voy a ser clara: Mycroft y Sherlock son dos machistas que se creen que solo por ser hombres ya tienen un cerebro privilegiado. Tratan a su hermana como si no tuviera neuronas y no tardan en ponerse a decidir sobre su futuro sin tener en cuenta su opinión, pero Enola es fuerte y no se va a dejar manejar por esos dos idiotas. Es una jovencita a la que su madre ha enseñado a pensar y a no doblegarse ante lo que la sociedad supuestamente espera de ella. Si Mycroft y Sherlock creen que van a domar a su hermana, están muy pero que muy equivocados…
Me encantó cómo Enola, a pesar de su edad, se lanza a la aventura y huye de sus hermanos para encontrar ella a su madre. En este libro veremos eso y vislumbraremos cómo también tiene un lado de detective que, con la práctica, puede hacerla tan buena investigadora como Sherlock. El caso que aquí se trata, aparte de lo de la madre, no da mucho juego, pero es acorde a las circunstancias. Hubiera sido raro que Enola se enfrentara a un misterio terriblemente complicado a la primera. Desde mi punto de vista, el único objetivo de enfrentarla aquí a un enigma era que ella misma se diera cuenta de sus capacidades.
La novela tiene menos de 100 páginas, así que os la podréis leer prácticamente de un tirón. Aunque hay muy poco texto, es el justo para poder comprender perfectamente lo que va ocurriendo. Además, las ilustraciones son preciosas. Son todas estilo acuarela y siempre predominan los colores cálidos, pero esto le viene perfecto a la historia. Como no hay tramas sombrías y Enola es pura luz con su fortaleza y su bondad, esos colores son ideales para representar a su personaje.
No es una historia que pretenda dar mal rollo, así que os animo a darle una oportunidad si tenéis ocasión y queréis descansar de lecturas densas. A mí me ha dejado una impresión positiva y tengo ganas de seguir conociendo más a Enola.

On her 14th birthday, her mother goes missing and Enola attempts to contact her brothers in hopes they will help find their mother. Soon she discovers that her mother has left her secret clues and Enola embarks on her own investigation and determines to not only find her mother but to also live up to the high esteem of the Holmes family name.

Una lectura muy divertida y fluida, con una protagonista muy especial, valiente e inteligente.

Oh, wow! La fan de Sherlock Holmes en moi est très satisfaite! J'ai beaucoup aimé le personnage d'Enola, sa détermination, sa fougue, sa lucidité. Une jeune fille forte dans un monde d'hommes.
On reconnait aussi Sherlock et son côté un peu plus solitaire, peu affectueux (même s'il est tout de même attaché à sa soeur).

Lovely companion to the Enola Holmes novels. The watercolor illustrations are gorgeous. While this graphic novel only contained 54 pages of story, I felt like it kept the essence of the book quite well. I also liked the addition of pages from Enola's case journal at the end.

Last night, I watched the movie. And let's just say that the movie's visuals were better than the book. And also Sherlock felt more like Sherlock in the movie. This is the first book where I like the movie better.
The book was amazing still. Reminds me of the old days.
I loved the way Enola and her mom interacted.
P.S: Even now I can't decipher her mom's journal.

¿Cómo llego este libro a mi vida?
La historia es muy corta y sencilla, Cyber Monday muchos descuentos un libro a un precio muy bajo, la adaptación de Netflix y mi repentino amor a todo lo relacionado con esa época.
Mi experiencia leyéndolo
Es un libro de una sentada, claramente fue una lectura muy lite. Esta sucedió durante una de las semanas más caóticas que he vivido académicamente. El estilo de Serena Blasco es encantador y que este sea en acuarelas es muy significativo para la historia.
Al terminarlo lo califiqué con 4 estrellas, después de leer el segundo libro noté que no había disfrutado tanto este libro.
El caso de este primer libro no me emocionó ni me causo duda alguna debido a la película, tengo que aclarar que no son totalmente iguales, aun así, afecto mi experiencia leyéndolo, desafortunadamente la solución de este para mi gusto fue muy meh.
Este libro es un gran regalo, para los lectores pequeños, es una historia que se disfruta demasiado por su gran protagonista y que promete mejorar con cada uno de los que siguen.

2020 bk 407. What a delight! Rarely have I enjoyed an adaptation of a YA novel more than this one. Blasco's illustrations, the editing from a full novel to a graphic novel, the inclusion of Enola's secreat notebook all make for one well put together graphic novel. I loved Nancy Springer's mystery series, but for the first time, can say that the graphic novel stands alone as well as the novel. The story of a young girl seeking her missing mother, dealing with overbearing older brothers, and being side tracked into solving the mystery of the missing marquess is delightful, beautiful to look at and just plain fun to read!

Très très chouette BD! Puisque j’enseigne le récit policier, je suis toujours à la recherche de livres d’enquête. Sherlock est bien connu des élèves, alors ça allait de soi de leur présenter sa jeune sœur Enola, surtout avec la nouvelle série sur a Netflix. J’ai bien aimé, même si ce premier tome met la table pour les autres tomes. J’ai adoré Enola, une jeune fille au caractère fort malgré cette époque où les femmes n’avaient que trop peu de place. Les illustrations à l’aquarelle sont très très jolies, une belle découverte que j’utiliserai assurément en classe 🍎 avec mon idée de carnet de l’enquêteur.. à suivre!

Ensuite, j’ai particulièrement aimé le caractère fonceur, déterminé et libre d’Enola qui ne s’en laisse pas imposer par ses frères et qui fait fit des convenances. J’ai été un peu déçue par Sherlock, par contre, qui m’apparaissait assez antipathique et loin du héros que j’aime m’imaginer.
Cette BD est assurément les premiers balbutiements d’une série qui saura me plaire.

This is such a cute adaptation of the first Enola Holmes novel!! It took me a minute to get used to the design (just because it wasn't necessarily what I pictured) but once I got into it I was hooked and love it so much!! Need to track down the other ones now...

Primer comic de esta saga. Muy entretenido y ameno. La película de Netflix es una adaptación de esta primera parte más o menos fiel y muy entretenida también. Me gustan esots comics tanto como su protagonista.

When Enola Holmes' mother runs away, her brothers Mycroft and Sherlock feel a need to take the young woman under their care and force her to do all of the sorts of things that were expected of young girls in the late 1800s. Not wanting to give up her freedom, Enola takes the money her mother left her, follows her clues, and runs away. After working on a mystery involving a missing young lord, she sets up shop under the name of Dr. Ragostin, and pretends to be his assistant, Ivy Meshle. She takes on a case involved a young Lady who was forced to be betrothed to a man, and discovers the sinister mind control at work over this artistic young person. Finally, in The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets, while she is still on the run from her brothers, she investigates the disappearance of Sherlock's assistant, Dr. Watson.
The illustrations are really the selling point here, and there are lots of details and notes about Enola's investigations. Since it's a historical setting, it's good to see the clothing and hair styles, and the details about corsets make a lot more sense with pictures for readers who are going to be completely kerflummoxed by the garment. There's a lot of detail in the drawings, and plenty of text. It's been a while since I've read the whole series, but I've read the original at least twice. There seem to be a lot of details about Enola's childhood that are lacking, and the first mystery doesn't seem quite complete if it's held up to the book. Since this is "A graphic novel adaptation of the hit books that inspired the Netflix film" AND translated from the French, it's really rather remarkable that it bears any resemblance to the original at all! (This seems to be a trend. I was amazed at a recent Clifford retelling as well.)
It's been a bit tough to get my students to read The Case of the Missing Marquess, and I'm unsure how many of them have seen the Netflix film, but graphic novels are hugely popular in my library. Even graphic novel reimagings of classics like Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden, and Tom's Midnight Garden circulate well, so I'm sure the Netflix tie-in will make this even more appealing. I personally prefer Springer's wonderful writing and the additional details found in the original books, but perhaps the graphic novels (there's a second volume with three more titles in it) will encourage readers to investigate Enola's adventures in prose.

I wonder to what extent the book got compressed to fit into this comic as there wasn't much to it and the case was painfully short. But okay, I guess this one sets up the stage for the whole series. The art isn't great as well, but the whole composition of the volume is interesting, especially the parts that look like Enola's notebook. It did make me want to try the book, so I guess that's something.

I quite liked the comic. It was more focused on getting to know Enola and her family than on the criminal case but I don't mind. I hope the other parts tell a bigger story but not sure if my library has them.
