I think the better question is can we stay out of bed long enough to stop them? Brynn When your first love comes blowing back into town it’s normal to throw a kiwi at his face right?
The problem is this is a small town and now everyone is talking about it.
He’s back to run his family’s two restaurants since his dad died so I have to deal with him all season. Great.
That’s fine I’ll stay at my Inn and avoid town as much as possible.
Of course, he’s going to step in and be a knight in shining armor when my chef quits and forces me to be nice to him.
Jasper
I promised my mom I would make things right with Brynn and me.
But she is making that hard to do with the flying fruit and all.
When the storm washes out the only way on and off the island and Brynn’s chef at the Inn quiets, of course, my mom would offer me to save the day.
I don’t do it for Brynn, I do it for her parents who I loved and never got to say goodbye to.
But every night in the same space starts to wear on a guy, I start to see that girl I loved all those years ago.
What are the chances she will give me a second chance? Judging by the strawberries that just hit my back, slim to none.
When a land developer tries to make the town more touristy which would shut down her Inn and my family restaurants can we put aside our differences long enough to work together?
Yes, we can.
I think the better question is can we stay out of bed long enough to stop them?

5 Star review of Sunset (Chasing The Sun Duet #2) by Kaci Rose Sunset is the second book in the Chasing The Sun duet and was just as entertaining as the first book. This time we get Brynn and Jasper’s second chance at love story. Jasper has returned to Hummingbird Island to help out his mother after the death of his father and to run his family restaurants. Jasper and Brynn have history but they were ripped apart by circumstance. When Brynn’s chef quits, his mother volunteers his services and despite wanting to refuse, Brynn has no choice but to accept. Working together rekindles the feelings that they once had and it was entertaining to watch the push and pull as they struggled with their feelings. When an outside source threatens both the inn and the restaurants they will need to pull together to fight a common enemy. This was an easy read with characters you cannot help but fall for. I love stories set in small towns and Ms.Rose wove a story that I fell in love with.
This one was just as cute as the first one. Jasper sure had his work cut out for himself to win back Brynn. Luckily he was up to the challenge, with a little help here and there from Kade and Lin. It was slow going, a lot of times, one step forward, 3 steps back for these 2. It helped that they had history and were still in love with each other, just hadn't really allowed themselves to think about it.
I liked how Jasper wooed Brynn by taking her on dates similar to when they were kids, how he reminded her of all the good things. I could have done without the drama at the end, stupid boy, not sure how he didn't realize what a big mistake he was making there!
The epilogues were great, loved seeing both couples living their lives happy and happy to still all be together.
I loved everything about this duet and I was so happy I read them back to back . This is Brynn and Jasper’s second chance romance and we are once again back on Hummingbird Island but this time the story is set in the Sunset Inn. Jasper is back on the Island to help his mother run their two restaurants after his father passed away and when Bryan’s chef quits his mother volunteers his services but this couple have a history and he broke her heart once before so how will Brynn feel about working with the man who still haunts her dreams. From the moment these two meet up again, sparks fly or should I say Kiwis.... This is a heartfelt, entertaining, witty read and I’m sure like me you will fall hook, line and sinker for this couple, it’s a story about past love and rekindling love and friendship, it’s about becoming stronger together, it’s captivating, funny and easy to read. This is second chance/small town romance at its best and I highly recommend this duet to all romance lovers. I’m now looking forward to what’s next from the very talented Kaci Rose.
Sunset is book 2 in the Chasing the Sun duet. It can be read as a standalone, but it would be more enjoyable if you read the first.
Jasper and Brynn have a history together. He left Brynn, leaving her feeling abandoned. Now 5 years later, she spots him in their small town’s farmers market and all of the feelings she tried so hard to deny come rushing back. What’s a girl to do but to throw a kiwi at him….
Jasper is back in town to help out his mother. Realizing what he’s lost, Jasper is determined to get his second chance with Brynn. Unfortunately, he will have his work cut out for him, since she won’t be making it easy. And getting hit by a kiwi is just the start.
Will Brynn ever open her heart again? Can Jasper convince Brynn to give him a second chance?
I enjoyed this story of forgiveness, second chances, and healing. Not to mention the sweet romance Jasper and Brynn have. If you like second chance romances, then Sunset by Kaci Rose is the book for you.
I absolutely loved this book! Brynn and Jasper's story will give you all the feels.
This is one of the best second chance romance stories that I have read. Brynn and Jasper were best friends growing up and then dated for several years. They broke up when he left their small town and went to New York, Brynn was supposed to go with him but she didn't. Now they are both living in their small town again and he is working as a chef at her inn. Jasper knows he made a mistake letting Brynn go and he will do whatever it takes to get her back.
Both characters grow a lot throughout this book. Brynn did not immediately take Jasper back. He had to break through her walls brick by brick. He had to regain her trust again. It took a lot of work, but he was not giving up. This is how it is when you are trying to get back together. You have to work through things, you can't just jump right back into it. Jasper also has to forgive himself with what he did to Brynn (he was not there for her when both her parents died). When he forgave himself, he was truly able to to be with Brynn. It was really nice seeing each character grow throughout the book. Their was no rushing getting back together. They got to know each other again as friends, and then slowly dated one another.
I really enjoyed this story. You also saw a lot of Lin and Cade from Sunrise which was nice. Also, a lot of awesome best friend moments. Love, love, love this duet!
Sunset is the story of redemption, second chances and that crazy-good little thing called true love. I love Brynn’s spunk & sassiness. She holds nothing back...especially kiwi’s 🤣. I felt all of their emotions; the happiness, the loss, the heartache, the fear and excitement, the longing and their love for each other. Who doesn't want a second chance at that first amazing love? This was such an emotional and beautifully written story about two imperfect people who were perfect for each other. I loved Jasper’s mom...she & I would be great friends. I saw a lot of similarities between her & I as moms. 🤣. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This was just as wonderful a story as the first part of the duet was. I love how this book is another example of just how well Kaci Rose can put together a story. It had steam and drama, it was sweet and filled with emotions.
Brynn and Jasper were so perfect together and I loved reading their story. The trope here of second chance romance is really one of my favorites and this story was so great. I really enjoyed that some of the story was simultaneous with the sunrise story but seen from Brynn and Jasper’s points of view.
Now my only complaint is that the duet is over and I wanted more.
It’s the most beautiful way to say I love you This second-chance romance story is about Brynn and Jasper. There was a lot going on at Hummingbird Island in ‘Sunrise’ (book one). There was ex-lovers returning, a kiwi-fruit throwing incident at the local market, a celebrity comes to town – and a new love developing from that fake relationship, there’s a major storm collapsing the bridge, the mayor’s plans to turn the place into a tourist hot-spot, and the subsequent plans to derail those ones… Sunset tells the story more from Brynn’s POV, as the owner of the Sunset Inn, right next door to the Sunrise Inn. You get a better, deeper insight into what happened from the day she spotted Jasper at the markets. He had moved away five years ago to become a big city chef, breaking her heart in the process. But now he’s back, and trying to be friendly and work his way back into her good books – on the request of his mother. Despite the obvious mutual attraction that lurks between them still, he’s gonna need an awful lot of luck! But when Lisa, Jasper’s well-meaning mum gets involved (insert ‘Danger Will Robinson’ sirens, as per Jasper’s thoughts on the matter), things may just move ahead a little faster than expected. Lisa cares so deeply about Brynn and her well-being that she can’t help but try to have these two somehow make amends. And maybe hope for some rekindled feelings and romance along the way. They say there’s a fine line between love and hate. This is an emotional recount of what both of them have been through, with the death of both her and Lin’s parents, and Jasper’s dad’s passing. If only they had kept communication channels open, they wouldn’t have endured quite as much hurt, loss and sadness. I loved the insight from Jasper’s POV too. It really gave me more of the complete picture of what had happened, and what was currently happening, as their thoughts were similar, but the way in which they shared (or didn’t) those thoughts, was quite different. There was so much I want to comment on, but I’d hate to give away all of the surprises and special moments in this book. The way these characters rally around each other so genuinely is just beautiful. The promises they make to each other and those that are no longer with them, the punches they throw (great way to redeem yourself actually), the selfless acts of kindness and love with wedding preparations and villa ideas, those nicknames, and all of the memories, old and new, and the magical way that Jasper take’s Brynn’s mind off things and gets her to refocus… major hot swoon! I honestly didn’t think that ‘Sunrise’ could be topped… well I was wrong! It was the absolute perfect match and finish to this wonderful duet of stories. The characters were incredibly written, and I was so full of mixed emotions all the way through. I cried sooo much! My heart was warmed with their happiness, forgiveness, triumphs, love, family and friendships, and my heart ached for their hurts, losses, worries and disappointments. The worst part of this book is that it ended. I was in no way ready to say goodbye to the characters and the place they called home. They truly endeared themselves to me form the very beginning! Kaci, you really hit it out of the park with these two books, and I cannot wait to read whatever brilliance you come up with next! I will definitely be recommending these ones! I unashamedly give this book five firefly stars! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Kaci does it again with Sunset, the second book in the Chasing The Sun Duet. Her way of writing had you feeling all emotional as you read the story of Brynn and Jasper, her ex-boyfriend that left her years ago. Will they have their second chance at love? Will Jasper prove that he is worth the risk and get Brynn to give him her heart?
Brynn runs one of the resorts on the island that she and her best friend grew up on. Lin, her best friend runs the Sunrise resort that is on the same grounds as the Sunset. Brynn had her life all planned out when she and Lin were younger. She was going to marry Jasper, have a family and live happily ever after, but her dreams were shattered when he left and she stayed back. After a tragedy took her and Lin's parents, she and Lin stayed to run the two resorts. She thought that Jasper would come back and be with her but that never happened.
Jasper is back home because his mother cannot run the two family restaurants since his father passed away. His mother is playing matchmaker but will it work? He sees Brynn at the local market but things start flying and the meeting is anything but pleasant. He still loves her and wants to right his wrongs. What happens when he finds out that Brynn's chef just quit and they have nobody in the kitchen? Will he help her and try to win her back? What happens when Jasper pulls away and goes for a boat ride on the anniversary of his father's death?
The tension between them is full of love but at the same time full of hurt as well. Kaci will have you unable to put this book down as it grabs a hold of your heart and will not let go. This book is well written, full of emotions and has you seeing the character growth of both Brynn and Jasper. This book can be read as a standalone however, I would highly recommend reading Sunrise first as you get a glimpse of Brynn's and Jasper's relationship. Add this one to your TBR list.
I was blown away by the first book in the Chasing The Sun Duet Sunrise as my review stats. Then came along Sunset, which not only blew me away, it also swept me off my feet. Sunset was perfect, a chance romance that pulled at my heartstrings, kept me rooted in one place until the very end. Chasing The Sun Duet, two standalone stories are a must-read for 2021.
You don't need to read the first book to read the second, but I highly recommend that you do. As we got to know Brynn in Sunrise, which is all about Lin and Kade. Brynn and Jaspers' story run within the same timeline as Sunrise.
Lin and Brynn have been best friends since childhood when they lost both parents in the same boating accident they stayed on Hummingbird Island to run Sunrise Inn left to Lin and Sunset Inn left to Brynn. When Jasper the love of Brynn's left 5 years ago she was heartbroken, and when her parents died she thought Jasper might come back to Island but he didn't, but now he is back from NY as a top Chef and is running his families restaurants. Sparks fly from the start, old hurts are brought to the surface and forgiveness is not going to be easy. But Jasper never stopped loving Brynn and he will do everything he can to prove that he is here to stay.
I highly recommend this book and this duet. One not to be missed!
This is book 2 in this duet about two women who run an inn together on an island. In the first book we watch as Lin finds love with movie star Cade. He partner at the inn, Brynn gets a second chance at love with her ex, Jasper in this book.
While its a duet, each book really can stand alone as each book features a different couple.
In the first book I enjoyed the story but we also meet Brynn and Jasper in Sunrise and so I was so excited to get to read this book that I couldn't wait to read the whole story about Jasper and Brynn, and I loved it. It was absolutely fantastic.
It had love, laughter, friendship and a lot of romance as Jasper tries to get Brynn to give him a shot at them riding off in the sunset together.
Jasper is back on the island to help his mother after his father has passed away. The death of his father is really a big deal in this story and he has to come to grips about how he let Brynn go and how he was not there for her in the previous years when she lost both her parents.
Brynn learns to move on and forgive and face her future with Jasper and well thats really the message I got from this story. Its a story about letting go and opening your hearts and that we all deserve love and forgiveness. Life and every minute we have with the ones we love was a pretty awesome message I got from Brynn and Jasper's second chance.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After reading 'Sunrise' you will know that Brynn is Lin's best friend and they took over running the family inns when both their parents were killed in the same accident. From the this book, you will also know that jasper is her ex when he didn't understand her need to be with her family when they needed her. Jasper is now back on the island helping run his family's restaurants.
When you meet Brynn in Sunrise you know you are going to get along with her. She is feisty, is protective of those she loves and is very passionate. Her dissatisfaction with him is evident in their first meeting after his return. Whilst she is keen to keep her distance from the man who broke her heart and left her when she needed him most, she needs help in her inn's kitchen and Jasper's mother has nominated him for the job.
Jasper is keen to make amends and win her back. He realises what he let go and won't make the same mistake twice. The passion, heat and feelings are still there and are probably stronger. He is patient, determined and focussed.
This was a good way to bring this duet to a close. A lot of loose ends are pulled together to bring this to its satisfying conclusion. Brynn was a character that was so relatable whilst Jasper won me over with his perseverance and his devotion to Brynn.
Sunset is the second book in the (Chasing The Sun Duet ) By one of my very favorite authors-Kaci Rose . This is Jasper and Brynn’s story . I can’t even express how much I have been anticipating their book. The story picks up right where sunrise left off .kade comes into town form Sunrise , Brynn has gone to the farmers market to prepare for his arrival , what she doesn’t expect is to come face fo face once again with her ex Jasper .He moved away fo NYC and broke her heart into so many pieces . It has been 5 years since they have seen one another , and he has now moved back to take over the family restaurant after his fathers death . He is encouraged by his mother to try to fix things with Brynn, as it is clear as day , that he is still very much in love with her . In the 5 years they have been apart , neither one of them has had a successful, lasting relationship. WillBrynn give him a Second chance ? This was truly such a beautiful and emotional story , that will pull at your heartstrings. Before you know it , you will be falling completely in love with both Bryan and Jasper . This is not your typical romance . It or also a story of Redemption, Second Chances, and True Love . Kaci Diid such a wonderful job of not only creating a story that has great world Building, but also characters that are so relatable.
While reading Sunrise and seeing glimpses of Jasper and Brynn’s meetings I knew their story would not only be entertaining but also heartbreaking. Their second chance at a relationship with each other starts off rocky when Jasper never came back for her and she felt abandoned, yet she had to persevere in order to run her family’s business. They had this amazing relationship where they had their futures all planned out, but fate had other ideas and things didn’t go as expected. Years apart neither one of them could ever stop thinking about the other with anger and longing. Once Jasper decides to come back home to help his mother, he knows he made a mistake with letting Brynn go, but now he has his work cut out for him especially when he gets kiwi thrown at his head by the woman, he never stopped loving. Fate kept pushing them together and ripping them apart, but will Brynn let Jasper back in or are the walls she built to high for him to climb? Will Jasper ever forgive himself for so much missed time or be doomed to repeat it? This series has had an amazing cast of characters that are so easy to fall in love with and storylines that keep you intrigued throughout. I love this small town, the people, and the love shown.
This is book number 2 of the Chasing The Sun Duet and is focused on Jasper and Brynn. I have been so looking forward to this book since I read Sunrise! The story picks up when Kade comes into town (from Sunrise). Brynn is busy at the farmers market trying to get ready for his arrival when she sees her ex, Jasper, who broke her heart and moved away to New York City. Jasper moved back after 5 years in NYC to take over the family restaurants after his dad died the year before. His mom wants him to make things right with Brynn because the inns that Brynn and Lin run send a lot of business to their restaurants and because he majorly messed things up with Brynn with the way he left and how they broke up. They both tried dating other people in the 5 years but it never held any appeal because they both knew deep down they still loved each other. When the chef at the Sunset Inn abruptly quit, Jasper's mom had the great idea to have Jasper take over for the chef until she can find someone new after the storm. I loved this story and the journey they went on to get their second chance HEA. Jasper definitely had a lot of ground to make up with Brynn to try and win her back.

What a fantastic book! This is Jasper and Brynn’s story! Jasper has returned to town to help his mother run his fathers restaurants after his father passed away. It isn’t long before he meets Brynn, his ex girlfriend, the one he should never have left. To say he didn’t get a welcomed reception would be an understatement, Jasper soon learns he has a lot of making up to do. He wants Brynn back but she can’t trust him, he knows he has to prove to her that she’s the only one for him. However at every turn something else stands in their way. When Jasper ends up in danger Brynn finally realises she can’t lose him again, she just needs to tell him! I loved this book, it had me laughing out aloud at parts, particularly the Kiwi part, great storyline! Loved the characters and the chemistry between them was just amazing. A fantastic book, a definite must read!

This is the 2nd book in this amazing duet and is Jasper and Brynn’s story. Jasper and Brynn were destined to be soulmates, and when he left town, she is left behind heartbroken. Now Jasper is a top chef who is back in their small hometown to run his family’s two restaurants, and when the chef at the inn leaves, he offers to help Brynn out, and the sparks fly between them, which is all very well if she would just stop slinging fruit at him lol. When a land developer arrives in town to try and make it a more touristy destination, the inn is in danger, and they must work together to prevent this venture happening. This is a beautifully written story which pulls at the heartstrings throughout, and is filled with emotions, loss, redemption, 2nd chances, heartbreak, witty banter, and love, which all leads to an entertaining and steamy read, I look forward to reading more from this talented author and I highly recommend her work.
This is the second half of a duo of 2 friends who each run Inns, side by side - Sunrise is the first and now Sunset is its own story about Brynn and Jasper. They have a history and living on a small island everyone knows your business, as gossip travels fast. Will they be able to overcome their feelings, dealing with the past, present and future? Will Jasper be able to convince Brynn to give him another chance and that they are right for each other? The only reason I have to frown about is I found the punctuation made it difficult to read at times, I felt it did not flow properly causing 1 sentence splitting into 2. The heavy use of commas can make the narrative broken and disjointed, like taking a breath in the middle. This however depends on you reading style and others may not agree.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this romantic story set on Hummingbird Island. The characters pulled me right back into this second book in the series. I liked that Lin and Brynn have always been there for each other, especially since their parents died together, and they are continuing their legacy by running the Sunrise and Sunset Inns.
This story was fun and romantic as Jasper, Brynn's ex-boyfriend has returned to the island after working in New York City. He has grown up and regrets not being there for Brynn after her parents died. I liked that he really had to work to get Brynn back. I also liked that there were quite a few bumps and scary times along the way to their happily ever after. This is a book and series that I will reread again. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Ms. Rose has written a wonderful, five star book to conclude the Chasing the Sun Duet. Having read “Sunrise” first, I was familiar with Brynn & Jasper’s story but just the condensed version as it coincided with Lin & Kade’s story. “Sunset” repeats a few scenes from “Sunrise” but gives more detail from Brynn and/or Jasper’s side. Plus there are many more scenes not in the first book and we get to experience Lin & Kade’s wedding and get a little life update on them. I think it’s great that the ladies welcome the men into the fold and they all become good friends. Jasper’s mom, Mrs. Adams is too funny! She keeps telling him “I want a daughter-in-law and THEN grand babies” even when Jasper is just beginning to woo Brynn. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
Sunset is the second book of the Chasing The Sun duet. It’s about Brynn and Jasper and their second chance at love story. Jasper has been away for several years but returns home to Hummingbird Island, about a year after his dad died, to work in the kitchen of his family restaurants. When he sees Brynn for the first time again, she throws kiwi’s at him! Brynn owns the Sunset Inn and since her chef suddenly left Jasper turns up at her kitchen, to help out. They have a long way to go, but eventually Brynn warms up to Jasper again. It is a sweet story about being hurt and forgiving. I loved to hear about Lin and Kade again, and loved the epilogues (yep, two!).
I received an arc of this book and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
So glad I got to read this story, I was so curious to know what happened between Brynn and Jasper. Kaci has a way to write this beautiful love stories, I just love each and every part of them and am so sad when I finish them! I loved how they found each other again, how Jasper was a real gentleman and tried to win her heart again, how caring he was towards Brynn. The side characters like his mom were so funny: “daughter-in-law and then grandbabies. In that order, understand me, Mister?” The chemistry between those two was so beautiful, just read this story, is all I can say.
A Chance At Redemption - Jasper has a lot to make up for where Brynn is concerned and he jumps at the opportunity to help her by becoming her temporary chef and also get a second chance with her. Unfortunately, their journey is not only filled with steamy moments and engaging banter, but also the return of Jasper’s past and a near fatal incident. This is a really sweet second chance romance story, that is so enticing that you wouldn’t be able to help but fall in love with the characters and the plot. Get ready for your heart to sing with joy.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the 2nd book in this series. Can be read alone but would benefit if you read Sunrise first. A fun, witty second chance for Jasper and Brynn. Jasper is back after leaving 5 years ago and sees Brynn in the Farmers Market and gets with with not 1 but 2 kiwis in the head and shoulder from her. She wants nothing to do with him but things never work out the way you think. Jasper ends up working at the Inn for Brynn after her previous chef just up and left for a real time cooking show. I really hope you enjoyed this book as much as I have.
I read an early review copy of this book for an honest review.
Jasper and Brynn had been so close, but separated and he went to chef school. After five years in NYC, he is back after his father dies, to help his mother. Brynn has lost her parents recently, too, so they both are trying to move on and open their hearts again. The characters are strong and determined. The storyline has plenty of ups and downs, especially the boat in the storm. Friends and family are kept close and are so supportive. A beautiful second and third chance romance that is so emotional. Well done.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good read. Talk about second chances. These two are meant to be together. He just wanted his dreams to be famous chef but went about it the wrong way with hurting her. Now he is back and she isnt too happy of course. She needs his help and hates to ask but she has no choice. With him helping and being so close to her is she able to keep it just a working relationship or do they fall back in love again?

Sunset is a great 2nd chance novel. Kaci Rose writing brings life to her characters. She continues her Chasing the Sun series with Sunset. It contains Brynn's story. Her high school boyfriend, Jasper, returns to Hummingbird Island after breaking her heart five years earlier. He wants a second chance with her. How hard will Jasper have to work to get the chance?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second of the Chasing the Sun Duet and I couldn’t be happier to read this second chance romance. It focuses on Jasper and Brynn and then rediscovering their love. Life pulled them apart years ago, but neither of them truly healed from it. Now, being put back into the same groove living the life they thought they were supposed to have sparks will fly. Their chemistry is undeniable along with the love they share.
"Sunset" is part of a duet. However, I did not read the first one and to me this reads as a stand alone story. This is a second chance read that is interesting and nicely developed with drama and flying fruit. Jasper and Brynn have a past together until he up and leaves. Now he is back in town and he realizes what he gave up. She is not going to make it easy on him though. This is a fun story with a wide range of emotions flowing through the pages.
A second chance is never easy to give, there are a lot of issues and heartbreak to work through, trust to be regained and love to be cemented. Brynn and Jasper get to do that slowly and start by rekindling their friendship first. I loved this story and I am sad I missed the first book in the duet but I'll buy that one soon.
