He is the larger-than-life figure who bounced back from rejection at 16 and graduated from parks pitches to become a Premier League goalkeeper, and later represent his country. Paddy Kenny's career was certainly not straightforward... just like his life. In his autobiography, Kenny lifts the lid on his time on and off the football field - including dressing-room rucks, being beaten for the Premier League's most famous goal and having his eyebrow bitten off in a curry house, just days before he faced Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Manchester United. This is Kenny's story... and the gloves are well and truly off.
Paddy is a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn’t hold back in this no holds barred autobiography. I appreciate that in the book he’s very open and honest about tabloid stories surrounding him, exact figures with salary from his playing days and the many humorous stories from his career.
Such an enthralling read, Paddy has had an interesting life put it that way! Couldn’t put it down, it was a genuine and heartfelt account of his life and career and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him through his story.
Proper footballer, old skool approach which is badly missing from today’s football community. Great career and a shame we never saw him get the accolades he deserved ,
Being a home and away Sheffield United fan throughout most of Paddy's time there, I especially loved that aspect of the book, and also enjoyed reading the rest of his life story.
