I was excited to try this because I know a lot of people have enjoyed it but ultimately I just don’t think it was for me and I ended up DNF-ing after 75%. The MC is 14 here and there were scenes that I personally wasn’t super comfortable with as a result. This is the second sapphic manga series that I’ve tried to start and haven’t been able to get into so I’d love suggestions if you have any!
i want to like this vampire yuri but the age gap (main character is 14, vampire love interest is 150+) is very off-putting and then they had to go and add a mom vampire that also preys on middle schoolers so. that's a no go for me. the art is lovely and if it was played better than it might get a pass but it's obvious in its fan service and i really don't need to be seeing that with middle schoolers
Vampeerz is a series that is both weird, yet very charming. This manga introduces us to Ichika, a fourteen-year-old girl who meets a mysterious, beautiful girl named Aria at her grandmother's funeral. We soon find out this girl is a vampire, and how we know is pretty direct: she sucks Ichika's blood. But instead of being freaked out, Ichika falls head over heels for this girl, kicking off a fun lesbian world filled with blood and lust.
The manga, however, is more fun and cute than "hot" and "sexy," which works well since Ichika is a teenager. This focus on gentle romance and heartfelt character moments feels more appropriate and adds to the series' charm. The central conflict is established early on, with Aria revealing her 4,000-year-old past and her desire to finally die, a wish that Ichika, who is already smitten, is determined to prevent. Aria's decision to move in with Ichika, even going so far as to hypnotize her parents, sets up a delightful slice-of-life dynamic.
Between the unique and interesting art, fun characters, and the weird as fuck family Aria has, which includes her own blood-sucking mother, the story is incredibly intriguing. The first volume successfully lays the groundwork for a compelling yuri romance with a supernatural twist. I'm definitely intrigued to see how this story will continue to go. Overall, this is a great read and a solid 4 out of 5.
i picked up this sapphic vampire romance manga on a whim when i was killing time at the kinokuniya bookstore in dtla because i showed up to an appointment on eastern standard time instead of pacific standard time lol and oh my gosh this is EVERYTHING???? not only is the art stunning, but the dialogue is also hilarious and had me giggling 🤭 with my hand over my mouth and cackling out loud in multiple places. there’s a story throughline, but each chapter is a little more episodic in a way similar to the japanese comics sazae-san or chibi maruko-chan, or tv like parks and rec, friends, how i met your mother—as opposed to a novel or graphic novel that’s more of like a serial drama or something but it pushes the main story through! if you’re familiar with this style of manga storytelling it shouldn’t be too jarring for you although some points i questioned if i missed something in the story but it was just a chapter shift. i do wish there was a little more meat to this volume but it’s a stunning start which has me very intrigued for the next volume, especially after that glorious cliffhanger, and this is definitely a new favorite and hyperfixation. if you like twilight, true blood, teen wolf, bitten, vampire academy, shadowhunters, first kill—i think you’ll enjoy this a lot :))))))))))) HIGHLY RECOMMEND. happy pride to me indeed 🏳️🌈👩❤️👩 4.5 stars ✨
This was really cute, I think I was expecting it to have somewhat of a darker tone but I guess it'll lean into more of the romantic/slice of life side of things based on this first volume, but we will see! I definitely plan on continuing :)
The art is amazing. I’m genuinely shocked how well the art is done. However, the writing’s a bit disappointing. The chapters don’t flow and the story’s far too cautious where it doesn’t need to be. For instance, Aria looking for the “secret” item: If it was so important to her, why did she forget about it within a chapter? There were a few too many instances where I thought another page or even another panel would have tied the narrative together.
2.5 stars. I thought the characters were drawn very beautifully, Ichika was cute, and Aria was a really cool vampire. I liked how it started a lot. A good old falling in love with a vampire story, albeit the sexual tension is awkward because Ichika is only 14, heaven knows Aria's age, and I was unsure if granny was somehow involved there. But okay, so I can roll with it alright because Aria is at that age and vampires and fictional supernatural romance, but as the story progressed I just started losing interest in the plot. Didn't like the introduction of certain side characters and don't like how v. 1 wrapped up. I'll see if I continue the series or not.
This was adorable. Ichika is the embodiment of gay panic and reminds me so much of how I was at that age as a little baby gay. (Also sidenote: I love how I’m sapphic fiction there’s a moment where they first see each other that is dramatic as hell)
Aria is such a wonderfully chaotic mess literally so casually asking to be stabbed. Can’t wait to see this relationship unfold and I just hope she doesn’t break Ichikas heart.
Mild concern because are they actually cousins or is that a lie that Aria mind controlled the mom into believing so she could live there? I get that in a vampire romance there’s bound to be some age gap, but 14 is a little low.
Super interested to delve more into Arias backstory and connection to Ichikas grandmother. Flashbacks?
Not sure how to feel about Arias mom.
One of my favorite things in vampire/human romances is when they feed the human love interest and it’s highly erotic. 10/10. So I hope Aria doesn’t feed off others.
Overall: It was adorable and compelling. Perfect for any gothic horror lover. And the art was absolutely stunning.
A very cute and funny book about a girl grieving the loss of her grandma when she meets a very adorable girl... who turns out to be a vampire. She falls head over heels with the vampire girl and eventually tells her she loves her. A bit too soon for my taste, not too big a fan of instant love. But could see why she liked Aria so much. I wasn't happy with Aria's request and I am glad what Ichika decided. Not sure how I feel about the hypnotising, but I guess otherwise living together is just not going to happen. I do want to know more about Aria's mom and Aria's manservant they are quite the types. :P The last chapter was a tad predictable but I still was very happy with the turn of events. The biting is quite erotic, it doesn't help that Ichika makes all these sounds and screws her face in different ways. The art was pretty well done, I quite like the style!
as ichika and her family begin to settle down after the death of a loved one, a mysterious girl named aria appears in their home, searching for something. though aria is strange, ichika can’t help but find herself drawn to her.
i enjoyed this, BUT i want to provide the disclaimer that, to me, it was less romantic and more of a metaphor for a toxic/predatory relationship. i can see that other people were put off by the age gap (rightfully so), but currently that is my take. i’m curious to learn where this will go in the next volumes.
i like the drawing style, but i don't like the story at all so far and i don't think i'm going to continue reading it ichika is 14 years old and aria probably at least 100 years, so that's the first and most important big fcking red flag
tbh more of a 2.5 but im holding out hope that it was just having a bit of a clunky start getting the plot and characters going because the art is so so gorgeous and i do really like our main character plus it’s lesbian vampires so obvs it gets a +0.5 star bonus
