Ghost Detective #5

Here Ghost Nothing

Rate this book
How can any self-respecting, slightly clumsy, highly caffeinated private eye pass up a dare? Short answer, she can’t. Now up I’m a certain creek trying to figure out how to live without coffee for an entire week!

With my mood sour, my temper frazzled, and my patience long gone, how am I meant to deal with this? And by this, I mean the dead body on my front lawn.

Before I can say double espresso, I've got a ghost whose transition to the afterlife is far from smooth, an overweight cat who is annoyingly vocal about his new (definitely called for) diet, and a mystery to solve that involves multiple visits to the local brewery. Can anyone say silver lining?

This is the fifth book in this series, and it’s still going strong! In this latest, a ghost shows up in her bedroom and his body on her lawn. Soon, she is up to her armpits trying to find out who killed him. Audrey is such an amazing character: strong, smart, caring, knows her weaknesses, and funny. I love her relationship with Galloway; he is just so accepting of her and her flaws, and he believes her about seeing ghosts. I am so in love with this series, and I hope it continues for a long time. If you love fun, cozy paranormal mysteries, you really need to give this one a try. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is a fantastic continuation of this series. I have been hooked from the start and this latest book is just great. No one should very accept a dare to go with out coffee for a week as our clumsy female mc learns the hard way especially when a dead body shows up. It’s a fun mystery read with great quirky dialogue, great characters, a hungry all the time cat and plenty of high jinx that will just grab you and have you laughing out loud.

this one fell a little flat

Rating 3/5

I’ve been enjoying Audrey’s journey as a paranormal PI. But this latest installment kind of fell flat. Hopefully book 6 holds up.

This is a fabulous addition to this series. Once I start reading these books, I wasn’t to stick with them, read them through in one setting. They’re remarkably entertaining.

In this one, Audrey has been forced into a bet with her sister-in-law: no caffeine for a week. For Audrey, that’s akin to a death sentence. Despite headaches and fogginess due to the lack of her beloved caffeinated coffee, Audrey digs into a new case, one surrounding a dead body on her lawn. The ghost of that person finds Audrey and gets her started on her investigation. Only he isn’t willing to offer much help.

What I especially loved about this book is Kade Galloway, aka Captain Cowboy Hotpants. He’s such a good guy. It’s clear that he cares so deeply for Audrey. He watches out for her. He helps her with her cases when he can. Best of all, he listens to her and accepts her opinions as valid and credible.

I loved this book and can’t wait for the next in the series.

I received an ARC of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

This latest paranormal adventure begins with Audrey accepting a dare for a coffee free week from a very annoying relative of hers. And on top of that, she found a dead body in her front yard to top off her week. Welcome to a crazy typical day in the life of Audrey Fitzgerald, a self-proclaimed clumsy private investigator, along with the ghostly best friend, Ben, Bandit, the newest furry member of the Fitzgerald fold, Thor, the always hungry cat, and her sexy boyfriend, Kade Galloway are on the case to solve the murder of Dean Ward, the Moustache Craft Ale owner wanted to hire Audrey for some suspicious activity going on at his bar. was found dead in her yard.

This is the best story that I have read so far in this fun paranormal series. The plot is perfectly executed with plenty of high jinx from the investigation team of Audrey, Kade, Ben, and the two adorable pets, Bandit and Thor. This story has the trademarks of the sparkling dialogue with all the quirky characters, funny daily life scenes and a little extra surprise for this reader, of Audrey putting a very annoying character in her place that was long overdue in my opinion. Oh, yes, I did enjoy those scenes very much, it made for a very good read for me. Another great addition was the scenes that Audrey experiences a life changing event that may affect her future with Kade later on in this series.

Ms. Hinchey has made every twist and turn of this mystery to fit seamlessly in this adventure along with the stars of the show, several outstanding quirky characters with plenty of attitude with plenty of snark and laughs woven into this storyline. I love the fact that Audrey has grown into a sassy woman gaining some serious self-confidence while being true to herself throughout this series. The ending of this story was a bit of a surprise, and yet it does fit the crime quite well.

The only drawback is the coffee challenge lament that got a bit tiresome for me, and I was a happy reader when this part of the story was finished. This is the best story out of the series, Audrey has developed into a strong woman with a kick butt attitude to solve cases her way with her detective boyfriend. I love the fact the furry pets had several cute scenes that did help Audrey out on this case. This is a light and entertaining read that takes this reader away from the real world for a few hours. I would give this read a TEN Star rating for this wonderful paranormal book!!

I really love the Ghost Detective series. Such fun and entertaining stories. Here Ghost Nothing did not disapoint. The relationship between Galloway and Audrey is blossoming, Audrey continues to get herself into all sorts of trouble and there were more Ghosts to annoy her. There was a murder to solve, but the plot thickened everytime they spoke to someone else. And a bet with Amanda meant Audrey was doing it all without coffee (I say as I sip my big coffee!!). A great feel good, fun story.

Another brilliant book from Jane Hinchey in the Ghost series. This time our accident prone heroine PI Audrey Fitzgerald has accepted a bet from her overly concerned sister-in-law Amanda to forego caffeine for a week. As any fellow coffee addict would know, suddenly ceasing caffeine does really bad things to your head, headaches, difficulty thinking straight, a tendency to be more than a little grumpy, so when Audrey opens her coffee deprived, hungover eyes to discover a dead guy standing at the foot of her bed it takes her a while to get around to asking why he is inside her home.

Discovering dead guy was murdered on her front doorstep does nothing to improve her mood, not helped by the discovery that her ghostly best friend Ben and dead guy hate each other resulting in ghosty fisticuffs!

Audrey and Detective Hot Pants Kade Galloway need to work out why dead guy was on his way to see Audrey when he was killed, and who done it. With best friends in the same industry who fell out and hate each other, a battle over a love interest, drugs, stand over men, lies aplenty, strange spectres and an unplanned attendance at a childbirth can Audrey solve the murder, and win her bet with Amanda?

Thor and Bandit continue to be an integral part of not only Audrey's life, but our love of the series, and it is fabulous watching their relationship grow.

If you've loved the first four books in this series, you can't help but love Here Ghost Nothing.

Once again, Jane Hinchey has written a winner. She consistently writes great cozy mysteries with a paranormal bent. I have read all of the Ghost Detective ones to date. Audrey wakes from this one after dreaming of coffee nirvana only to find an unfamiliar ghost in her bedroom. Although it is usual to find a ghost, this one is not the usual. Coming downstairs she discovers that his body is lying in her front yard! Murdered! But he can't seem to remember how he got there or why. With her best friend's help, they try to figure out where he came from, to no avail. Her best friend, by the way, is the usual ghost! A Private Investigator who died and left her his house, business, car, etc. Now, with his unofficial help, she runs his business. He recognizes this new ghost and really, really, doesn't like him. Hilarity ensues as she investigates the murder, discovers a drug house, and solves it all. But, oh boy, is it fun times as she is also undertaking a challenge her sister-in-law has issued that she give up caffeine for a week! We have a very crabby Audrey and a very funny book. Five stars all around. Of course, there's a lot of meat that I have left out that would totally spoil the book for the rest of you!

This book was great. Audrey wakes up from a lovely dream of coffee to find her phone ringing and a ghost in her bedroom, and not the one she is used to finding in her room. The phone call is from her sister-in-law who she has, in an apparent fit of lunacy, made a bet with involving her not drinking any caffeine for 7 days. If she manages to do it then Amanda will quit butting into her life. Worth it. Ok, maybe not. Audrey has a constant headache and finds herself sniffing cop coffee just for the coffee smell, burnt or not. Anyway, she finds the dead guy's body in her front yard with a knife in his back and now at least she has a murder to distract her. Well that and Captain Cowboy Hot Pants, aka Detective Kade Galloway. Then there is her sister's baby shower, and then her sister's childbirth where Audrey is somehow the only one in the family to be present. She is never having children. Ever.

Find out how Audrey manages to solve a murder without the assistance of caffeine. Oh, she may or may not accidentally taser a member of her family. Three guesses.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

This was a nice continuation of the Ghost Detective Series. It was only a matter of time before Audrey found a body in her yard. The pacing is consistent with the other books in the series. I figured out who the culprit was, even before Audrey did. Then again, she was caffeine deprived and buzzed with alcohol (as a coffee replacement). It was understandable. Thor was awesome, as usual. The ghost whose death Audrey was investigating was a jerk and I wanted to smack him - but that's a good thing. It means the author did her job well. I was a little disappointed at reveal of the mysterious ghosts Audrey kept seeing. Of course, things may seem scarier to her in her caffeine-deprived state, which could explain the build up and subsequent disappointment at the reveal. It was definitely a different outcome than the series usually has. Overall, it was a decent story and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I am voluntarily reviewing this book, gifted to me by the author with no obligation.

A dare that she couldn't go a time without consuming any caffeine. That is how this tale started.
She found a dead body on her front lawn. A cat and a racoon as well as two ghosts. This is the gist of the story.
I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I I could give this book 10 Stars, I would! With a lot of laughs along the way, we find klutzy Audrey, taking a bet with her very annoying Sister-in-Law, Amanda to give up coffee for a week. Amanda is always trying to "fix" Audrey into what she thinks she should be like. Well if that doesn't put you in a coffee withdrawal bad mood, then finding a dead guy with a knife in his back on your front lawn should. With her crew, boyfriend Detective "Hot Pants" Kade, Ben her ghost side-kick whose PI business she took over, her cat she can talk to, Thor and his adoring racoon, Bandit she investigates the death so his ghost goes away and leaves her alone. With lots of sarcasm, wit, laughs and pitfalls along the way, Audrey sets out on this journey leaving us laughing all the way! I Love this series and can't wait to see what else befalls Audrey! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own!

Oh, the blurb at the front sounds fun! Who makes the dare, what do they dare Audrey to do, and how does it turn out? What kind of a dream do we find Audrey having? What does she wake up to? Oh goodness, Ben and Dean.....Oh Gee Wiz!!! What happens. when Laura calls Audrey to buy her a new mop? What conclusions or observations does Audrey call Kade with? Who is behind what is going on and why? Clearly more is happening than meets the eye!! Which thing is it that was the cause of the murder? Oh, I love Bandit!! Cannot wait to see more of Bandit in the future! So cute.... What happens when Bandit waskes Audrey up at 2am? When Amanda wakes her up at 7 am what does Audrey do? Who helped Audrey get to the bottom of wht was happening was surprising. See who dun it!

Read books in order-you will love all of them.
Audrey is a P.I. she is able to see and speak with ghost. Her BFF is a ghost now, Ben left Audrey his P.I. business, house, cars, big cat Thor and bank account. Sister in law -Amanda keeps trying to "fix" her.
O.K. she is a little clumsy, has a caffeine addiction, finds trouble or it finds her. So in a heated moment Amanda challenges her to stop caffeine/coffee for 1 week, Audrey takes the challenge if she wins Amanda will stop trying to "fix" her, lose she gives up coffee for good. Her sister is pregnant
due any day. So can Audrey solve the murder that happened in her front yard, caffeine-free? she is with her sister who goes into labor, no one else around can she step up for her sister/ even in the delivery room?? Find who dunnit, win her bet, not getting murdered herself? All caffeine free?

When Audrey found a Dead Guy on her front door, she needed her coffee to think straight but the bet she made with Amanda was dragging her down. Ghost fights, a nosy sister-in-law who didn't respect her personal space, beer and wine, and a desperate need for her favorite drink had Audrey outside of her comfort zone and her ability to connect dots was dulling off. But a detective boyfriend was useful and still, with a lot of suspects she kept her groove, almost get killed but got the culprit. Like this clumsy PI with her amusing animals and her knack to get in strange situations with her "I see dead people" abilities. Also liked how Galloway approached Audrey's fears situation. Interesting and entertaining story with action, suspense, mystery, ghosts, rivalry, family drama, amusing scenes, lovely pets and romance. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I enjoyed.

After the shock of being woken up in her bedroom by a ghost, Audrey (Fitz) Fitzgerald’s shakes off the cobwebs and gets up to find the ghost’s body on her front lawn with a knife sticking out of his chest. After calling her boyfriend, Detective Kade Galloway she reaches for a cup of coffee before remembering she has a bet with her sister-in-law that she cannot be without coffee for one week. Fitz will prove Amanda wrong if she can actually survive one entire week without her coffee. With the help of her best friend, Ben’s ghost and Kade, Audrey begins to investigate the death of this unlikeable ghost. This is a fun series with a caffeine deprived, awkward and clumsy PI, who against all odds, often accidently finds the killer. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

I freely admit that I adore this series. Even if I try, I really can't find anything to fault. There is no underlying angst or drama driving the relationships. It's not "I love my family, but at a distance". The PI and the cop love-interest don't butt heads over cases. Audrey doesn't find info and keep it to herself either because she can't admit how she got it or because she feels she HAS to be the one to follow the clues. This means that many of the cozy mystery attributes that I dislike are missing from this series. You'd think that this would all add up to a somewhat lacking story, but there is humor and warmth and a puzzle to solve. That's all a light read like this really needs. And then, as I always have to say, there's the cover art, which I absolutely adore.

Another baffling mystery for our accident-prone P.I. to solve

Audrey really has a trying time in this book. A ghost tells her he is lying dead on her front lawn and things continue going downhill from there. The ghost is not nice at all and Audrey's patience is worn very thin due to her incredibly annoying sister-in-law, Amanda, trying to 'fix' her by betting her that she cannot go without caffeine for a week. It's a good job she has Captain Cowboy Hot Pants to help keep her sane throughout the whole ordeal.
As always, the characters were well-drawn and interesting but, of course, Thor and Bandit stole the show. The murder mystery was convoluted and I didn't guess whodunnit. Yet another quick and easy fun read.

Audrey is at it again, this time waking up to a ghost in her room and a dead body on her front lawn. To make matters worse she’s on a bet with Amanda to go caffeine free for 7 days. This story has the usual plot twists we even see a little bit of karma when Audrey accidentally does something to Amanda but in all fairness it was an accident and Amanda although her intentions were good she still in my opinion do the wrong thing. As usual the killer is caught but this time the ghost doesn’t have the usual exit from existence. Cowboy Hot Pant aka Kade Galloway is his usual charming self and I’m guessing there maybe a proposal sometime in the near future of this series. I’m loving this series and really cant wait for more.

Here Ghost Nothing is the fifth book in the Ghost Detective series by Jane Hinchey.

This series keeps getting better and better.

I knew it was going to be interesting with Audrey betting her sister-in-law that she could go without coffee for a week. There is so much humor - Ben, Thor on a diet, Audrey with a taser, Audrey’s very pregnant sister. I laughed out loud multiple times.

The mystery was interesting and kept sending Audrey to breweries trying to figure out who murdered the victim. And there is the romance with Galloway aka Captain Cowboy Hot Pants. He is such a patient, understanding man.

I look forward to the next book.

I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I've devoured every book in this series, they are such fun! This one is no exception, it's another fun and entertaining read from start to finish.

Audrey has made a bet with her sister-in-law that she can do without caffeine for a week, a big mistake as now suffering from headaches and fogginess all because she can't have her beloved shot of caffeinated coffee. To add to Audrey's stress level she wakes up to find an unknown ghost in her bedroom, then goes downstairs and finds his body on her front lawn! Now she's got a new case to solve. You'd think solving it would be easy but the ghost isn’t willing to give her any help. It's a good job Kade Galloway cares so much for Audrey and is watching out for her.

When I finish a book in this series, I always think it was the best. Then another releases and once again I'm amazed. Audrey seriously cracks me up. I swear she goes off on a rant, and it's like she is the only character in the story. But it works. It all works. We all love our families, but they can be overwhelming. Thor is so dramatic, like all cats, but I think Bandit will give him a run. Ben is both the perfect best friend and mentor. Kade, well we don't have enough time for that. Each book brings a new set of secondary characters and a huge amount of laughs. Great job Ms. Hinchey, on to the next case.

Audrey is back on the case again, as a PI you have to be prepared for anything. But waking up to find a dead body in the front yard is one of the things you might not be ready for. Audrey sees ghosts, so now she feels obligated to figure out who killed this guy. He is not a nice ghost, but he was on his way to have her investigate something for him when he was killed. That makes her job much harder. The laughs start almost immediately and carry on throughout the book. These are just so much fun to read, I have enjoyed each and every one of the books in this series.

Another ghost enters our heroine's life and in a OMG way! This story is fun from the caffeine deprived opening (she was sucked in) to the murder to the twists on who did what and how it all ties together. The book had some humorous highlights, like two ghosts punching each other out a funny fight scene for sure. This book is a fun read and I am looking forward to more in the series. Way to go Ms Hinchley.

I thoroughly enjoy this quirky cozy mystery series! This time, caffeine addicted Audrey has given up coffee due to a bet with her sister-in-law. Thus, her brain is a bit sluggish when she finds a new ghost at the foot of her bed and his body on her front lawn. This book an absolute delight. The plot is interesting, characters engaging and the writing top notch. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book! I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.

Wow, Audrey's having a bad day. Not only is she in caffeine withdrawal due to a bet with her sister-in-law but there's a dead man on her front lawn and he's haunting her. She has to solve his murder to get him to leave her alone. The good news is that she's getting really good at being a detective. Along with Ben (her BFF who's a ghost) and her cat, Thor, and raccoon, Bandit, Audrey is on the case. It's a fun story with a good mystery and great characters.

Another fantastic read with our favorite clumsy P.I.
Audrey makes a bet that she can go a full week without coffee-which is her major addition. And then a ghost shows up and needs her help, and without her caffeine she has to figure out how to solve the mystery!! This series is one of my absolute favorites, and our leading lady is the most relatable character I have ever known! If you haven't read this series, I highly suggest it. It is so funny at times you will just burst out laughing!
