No-one controls it. No governments, no companies, no central banks, no money printing. It’s a revolution as big as the internet. And it’s never been hacked.
Entrepreneur and investor Jason A. Williams is the first author to put bitcoin in context of the 2020 crisis - a year of financial disaster and unprecedented money creation (money printer go brrr!)
Not only was bitcoin the best-performing asset on the planet in 2020, it quietly established itself as the next global reserve currency as central banks around the world desperately printed their money into oblivion.
Hard Money You Can’t F*ck With explains bitcoin in simple, readable terms and maps out how this ‘magic internet money’ will grow into the best form of money we’ve ever had.

Lives up to the title and delivers what it promises. If you are new and want to learn about Bitcoin, this is a book for you. If you are familiar with bitcoin you will probably enjoy this book too as it has quite interesting stories.
There may be no greater lever on our ability to financially benefit those we care for, than curing our ignorance of Bitcoin's potential. Jason has given the world a wonderful gift with this book. Give your future selves a gift and read at least the first 15 to 20 pages as soon as possible. Delaying could reduce your financial potential to an extent you cannot currently fathom. Seriously, like read it now. My review can wait. If you feel like you might have to pee first, just squeeze and read.
Jason at his waste to energy company.
Perhaps even more scarce and valuable than Bitcoin is time and Jason doesn't waste yours. He explains what is happening and what is likely to happen in incredibly clear, short bits, with easy to grasp graphs and memes.
Bitcoin is not about quick and easy, micro payments. It's not about becoming a millionaire in the short term. The Cyperpunks knowingly created something that could take away the power from all governments to control our money.
One concern with Bitcoin is the amount of energy used in mining. I think an offsetting ecological benefit that Jason talks about, but doesn't explicitly put this way, is Bitcoin's potential to eat consumerism. The current fiat system, with easy credit, not only incentivizes unnecessary spending to spur "growth" for the economy, but also punishes saving with inflation. Bitcoin, however, can turn people into frugal savers, first through the prospect of unprecedented growth and eventually with un-f*cked-up interest rates. How much energy is a wanton-consumerism killer worth?
Read it, gather thoughts from others, and try to find a flaw in the logic that would be sufficient reason not to invest at least a sum you'd be fine with losing.
First off wow, number two; this book might be the 2nd most important book i’ve ever read in my entire life (Rich dad was 1). If rich dad opened your eyes, shifted your paradigm and perspective about acquiring assets then this book leverage that concept exponentially! im talking about quadrillion more. My Understanding of bitcoin is what everyone thought about it, some intangible online thingy synonymous with how wifi work or apply pay, online play money (dollars) I can maybe buy things with or potentially heard from that one weirdo friend you have or stranger who brags that they bought shit on the dark web with bitcoin. Pretty much bitcoin didn’t have the best reputation, and was just a cloud of biased negative opinions by many but most importantly by some of the worlds renowned financial institutions and even respected billionaires. In my mind i’m thinking if these guys wouldn’t buy into it, then why would a guy like me from the Bronx, who have aspirations to send my daughter who will be born April 2021 to NYU one day throw my little bit of coins in the clouds like a frisbee just to hear, it’s not coming back bro. Am i right ?! But let me tell you, if Jason is right and deep down i truly believe he is, this motherfucker needs a congressional medal of honor or nobel peace prize or something. This book is that good, that informative and that important! A must read. By the way i am not the specific guy from the Bronx mentioned in the book, But i resonate with perspective bc i am from the Bronx lol. Get this book read it, get a coinbase account and invest as much as you can in bitcoin. You prob wasted money on that stupid penny stock, lost money trying to be a options trader bc you were too lazy to understand mastery or you’re that super passive speculator stock holding person who tells everyone that “we all have the same 24 hours because you invested 200.00 in tesla in 2020 or your just a person that is driven by fear and you just want a few extra dollars. This book literally demystifies Bitcoin, what it means, why you should buy it, and how impactful it will be to changing the world of currency as we know it. Jason we owe you big time. Thank you for this book.
I have previously read books and watched several documentaries on this space and it took a while to grasp the concepts of Bitcoin because of the overly complicated material on this subject. This is the first resource that I have found easy to read and highly recommend this as the first source for the ordinary person to understand how Bitcoin is evolving as an asset class. The theme of the book is very relevant to the financial crisis of 2020 and it was refreshing to see that the author did not go into rabbit holes that other libertarians or "tech nerds" usually fall into when trying to discuss Bitcoin. Highly recommend to everyone and this is even a great gift to give as a detailed introduction to Bitcoin.
Great message, very inclusive review of bitcoin that is simply written and easily understood. The author avoids much of the technical minutiae, opting instead for clear analogies. I think anyone interested in their own financial future needs to read this!
I still remember when back in college I heard about this new type of currency called Bitcoin built on a novel technology called Blockchain: supposed to be the perfectly decentralised ledger, owned and controlled by no one and yet everyone. Like any other buzz word which gained prominence and later fizzled out, bitcoin too lost it's sheen in my friend circle. Years later, when I started working, the craze picked up again. Colleagues earning lakhs through trading Bitcoins were the talk of the town. Everyone wanted to earn quick money but then it happened. Bitcoin started loosing it's value after reaching its peak sometime in 2018 and the exit started. The heroes of the bitcoin success story were running around telling people not to do what they did. . . . But then one day, someone ate a bat and a few weeks later, the world came to a halt. Every currency started losing its value, primarily due to each country printing new money to finance the fight against the pandemic. But there was something special about Bitcoin. It's value shot up and continued to do so for a long time, currently sitting at North of 40 lakh rupees. . . . Jason A Williams, formerly a healthcare professional and now a Bitcoin investor as well as a prolific author, argues in favour of this new form of currency in his book. He details how Bitcoin is not a new fintech app for buying coffee. It's so much more than that. It’s a whole new form of money. A new financial system with a hard coded, limited supply set to be the next reserve currency of the world. A parallel universe that lets you escape the broken world around you. It’s a scarce asset, slowly sucking up value from all the infinite currencies around it. A new financial system that can’t be controlled or manipulated by politics or human greed. A fair and transparent money for a divided world. It’s a lifeline for people in Venezuela and Argentina and Turkey who are forced to watch their governments print their money into oblivion. It’s an escape from the inevitable hyper-surveillance digital currencies that will be eventually coming for us. . . . Divided into three parts, the book is an amazing read for anyone who's new to this whole Bitcoin business. Of course the author is a strong supporter of bitcoin and one needs a devil's advocate to provide counter points to his arguments. But this was still a fun, smooth read and I learnt a lot of things. What else can one expect from a book.
Interesting time to read this book, and a few unfortunate predictions. “Bitcoin has emerged as a true inflation hedge” and “nation-states are adding Bitcoin to their reserves”, citing Russian as an example for using an “independent, global, decentralised currency that can’t be seized or sanctioned”
Nevertheless, it is well written and great just for the history of money, and problems with the dollar as the current global reserve currency / huge piles of global sovereign debt and central banks’ ‘addiction’ to printing money.
The book is fun and easy to understand – all while making an incredibly bullish case for bitcoin.
And I have to say... I genuinely trust Jason. The guy is suuuuper smart and comes from a good place. I've been in some Clubhouse rooms with him and his calm conviction is contagious.
I feel like this book – on its own – has the power to really orange-pill younger people. The casual language is inviting and he employs metaphors that distill complex topics into simplicity.
My only critical comment is that it comes across as "fear-mongering" at times. Sure, this is somewhat justified because the current climate regarding global finance is fucked, but still... reading this before bed gave me a bit of anxiety lol.
The final paragraph sums it all up:
"Do you use fiat currencies? Politically motivated, tied to a single economy, destined to devalue over time, easy to censor and confiscate, with hyper-surveillance properties built-in? Or do you use bitcoin? Money that no one can mess with? Independent and neutral from any political regime or economy, naturally designed to accrue and hold value, impossible to manipulate or confiscate, with faster, cheaper rails, protected by the strongest computing network in history? You choose bitcoin."
I have read just about every book out there on Bitcoin and this book has to be the pinnacle of them all. I recommend this book to absolutely everyone to really get an understanding of what exactly is hard money, the faults of empires of the past and where we are now, and why it matters.
Bitcoin is a beacon of peace, it's a beacon of truth, fairness and global equality. It's the only incorruptible entity humanity has ever seen. And will be the global backbone of the new world. This book is especially important to read now, in a time of global inequality and the brink of hyper inflation from years of debt spending and quantitative easing. It's just a must read to anybody who is interested in macroeconomics. It might not be the deepest technical dive into the protocol itself but this would be the book I recommend most to anyone PERIOD.
I'm not a Bitcoin enthusiast. I wouldn't say that I'm anti-Bitcoin either, but I do have my doubts. I have zero holdings in any cryptocurrency at the moment, but I am wondering if I should change that. I was recommended this book by a friend and I tried to read it with an open mind, with as much awareness as I could muster towards my own prejudices.
While I tried to be fair and impartial reading this book, the book is certainly not that. It's written by a Bitcoin advocate, with his self worth tied to the cryptocurrency. The author pitches major investors on Bitcoin, and the book is effectively a sales pitch in itself. None of this should be a surprise, the book doesn't claim to be anything else, but if you're looking for an objective book on Bitcoin, then this is not it.
That said, it was an interesting read. It delves in to the history of money, and the impact fiscal policy has had. I went in to this with concern about the stability of Bitcoin, and I'm leaving it with concern about the US dollar. Is that really a case for Bitcoin though? Maybe. I'd prefer it if the Bitcoin pitch relied more on the merits of Bitcoin and less on the fear mongering tactics. But, I guess that's the point, you can't really separate the two. That's my biggest takeaway.
Having read this book, I wouldn't say that I'm sold on Bitcoin, but I would say I'm a bit more open to the idea than before. There are still some fundamental questions I have that are left unanswered. I also wouldn't consider the author an authority on economics or fiscal policy, which is a big part of his argument.
All in all, it's an interesting read, and I'm glad I read it. I better understand why so many people are all-in on Bitcoin, I'm just not quite there myself.
The content of this book is excellent, but the writing itself is absolutely chaotic. There are spelling and grammar mistakes throughout. The narrative voice is amateurish and underdeveloped. The chapters feel rushed and disorganized. Absolutely some of the worst writing I've ever had the misfortune of dragging myself through.
Once again, the content of this book is great. But the poor writing casts doubt over the entire thesis. Now I believe in the power of Bitcoin. I've been in the space since 2013. But this book read like the monologue of a drunk conspiracy theorist, the kind of conversation you wish you weren't being subjected to.
This book feels rushed and unpolished. It gives the distinct impression that the entire book was written in one sitting - possibly an all-nighter, fueled by obscene amounts of caffeine. It clearly was never reviewed by an editor. I'm guessing even the author himself didn't read through this book after he finished it.
Best non-technical Bitcoin book I've read so far. This is the book I will pass along to friends who express interest in understanding Bitcoin on a more socio-political level. This book is very timely. It addresses how our world has changed up to the COVID pandemic. Topics such as the fourth turning and how future generations of millenials and gen z'ers are poised to adopt and understand Bitcoin...No review can do this book justice. if you're even a little bit curious about Bitcoin and don't know where to start, START HERE. I guarantee you won't be able to put this book down. I would get up and pace around my room thinking about some of implications I came across here. Excited to go back and review all my kindle highlights.
This is the first book I've read about bitcoin. There's so many out there that I felt overwhelmed to choose. A friend recommended this copy. I really enjoyed it that I couldn't put it down. He went over history, how it did during the previous market crash, and how it's been evolving. This gave me a better perspective on inflation and an alternative to protect our assets from current currency. He has personal interest in bitcoin so it was all positive marketing of why bitcoin is the future. Great summary of what bitcoin is and what it can do in the future.
This was an interesting read that is clearly very biased towards supporting Bitcoin but provided a helpful overview of its history. I found myself several times questioning very blunt direct statements made that was not truly supported with any factual data though, and after finishing this book I feel like I had just watched an Amway presentation.
Despite this, I'll probably set up a crypto wallet and dip my toes in hesitantly, so mission success on all the persuasive rhetoric? It would be nice to see some more information on how the mining relates to the security of Bitcoin and whether future technologies such as quantum computing and fusion power will make this obsolete.
Throughout the whole book, I noticed that threaded between bold statements basically all but guaranteeing that Bitcoin will be the indestructible, untraceable, politically neutral and internet-born next worldwide global currency base, there was a very brief mention of the miniscule risk that Bitcoin could literally be worthless at one point for unmentioned reasons. There were a lot of repetitive statements uttered like mantras throughout the book that made the book feel a bit cult-like.
Not sure how I feel about this book but I am glad that I read it. I would prefer something a bit more data supported and objective though.
Known on social media as the “Parabolic Guy,” Williams is not just a great follow — he’s also a solid author in his own right. In “Bitcoin: Hard Money You…” Williams explains just why he’s such a bull when it comes to the world’s most well-known cryptocurrency.
This book mostly comes at you from the angle of: “Here’s why the current monetary system is broken, and here’s what we can do to fix it.” Williams’ short solution, as you might be able to guess, is Bitcoin. His longer, more thought-out answer is what fills the rest of the pages of this interesting and engaging release.
It’s clear Williams knows what he’s talking about when it comes to BTC. After all, he’s started a mining operation and even been questioned by the government over it. He tells all about that story, as well as many of the more technical aspects of bitcoin here.
By the end, the reader has a solid understanding of the cryptocurrency and is able to form his or her own educated opinion on it. Though I think that opinion will likely go one specific way given Williams’ stance, I’m not so sure that’s a bad thing.
This is a great read with many compelling arguments in it. I definitely recommend checking it out.
Not gonna lie, this book made me anxious on how my money is being wasted away in the bank, getting eaten up by inflation. Very well explained concepts of how currency works, why USD became a reserve currency and why the author believes Bitcoin can be the next reserve currency. Author put up a very convincing case of Bitcoin being a great store of value, and it can be good for humanity as well! (No more money printing -> no more wars?!) Giving 4 stars as I was left with more questions than answers - how can growth be fostered in an economy when currency cannot be printed? How scalable is bitcoin? Of course the book was not meant to answer everything but a great staring point in my journey to understand Bitcoin!
What can I say...I'm a fan of Bitcoin and Jason's book reinforced why I am a fan. The current political climate in the United States, the ongoing money printing by the Feds and historical facts all point to the dollar being replaced by something... And I think Bitcoin is that something! I plod along buying a little Bitcoin every week no matter the price, put it in my personal wallet and don't worry about the FTX shit shows that are happening by the greedy. My Bitcoin is safe and accumulating slowly away from any outside influences. By the way, this book is well written and researched. Definitely worth the read!
I read this book in 3 sessions. There is so much information contained within it that my head is still spinning! And I learned a shit-ton of things that I've always suspected but never had the time to research and prove or disprove. It paints a dark picture of what's happened in the past and what is likely coming in the near future. But it also paints a way brighter possible future of finance, both here and abroad, than I could ever have imagined! Thank you, Jason, for taking the time to write this.
I fully expected this read to be a hardcore Bitcoin propaganda piece as it was a rec from a co-worker who devoutly believes in crypto. However, the economic educational value alone was worth the $9.99. The author does a great job detailing national and international economics and tying Bitcoin’s potential place in the global market based on the information he delivers. The book also does a great job describing inflation in layman’s terms and making it something easy to grasp. Definitely a book I will keep in my library and revisit with some frequency!
A pretty frustrating read. A lot of the book meanders from the fantastical to the obscure.
Throughout the book the author attempts to draw on historical financial periods from bygone eras to make the case for bitcoins eventual dominance as a global reserve currency. It just that… not much of it really seems to add up.
Overall the book could best be described as an extremely optimistic prediction of a crypto utopia. At worst, a delusional sales pitch of the future as told by a crypto hypeman.
Although I read this at a time just before Bitcoin began to lower in the market, I found this an easy read filled with great information and illustrations for a beginning Bitcoin investor like myself.
While I no longer have as much invested in Bitcoin I still monitor the market and communicate with experienced investors that believe that eventually Bitcoin will surpass its last heights in the market.
I recommend this book for beginning investors in Bitcoin as long as they understand that the market is ever changing so some things in this book will not apply at the moment but could be spot on in the near future.
An Excellent Overview of the Optimistic View of Bitcoin's Future
Jason Williams is a passionate Bitcoin (BTC) advocate and in this book he makes a compelling case for the future of BTC. This book's about five years old, but it holds up very well. BTC has become a globally accepted store of value, as Jason Williams says, "A better version of gold than gold itself. Its scarcity and portability give it great value. If you want to understand the basics of Bitcoin, this is a great place to start.
The author keeps telling me that inflation is bad and Bitcoin can be one of the best asset to store value; however, I don’t see that inflation is necessarily bad. When you look at Japan, which used to be a country having deflation, that is bad. After reading this book, I am still not convinced that Bitcoin can be a solution to whatever problems the author mentioned in the book.
Read this book! I really enjoy Bitcoin the people behind it and the idea of it. This book covers the why for the idea as well as any I've read. It gets you excited to stack some sats and be a part of history. Everythings a risk in life, but I'm a bitcoin believer. Jason is a great storyteller and has a great one to tell sit down and enjoy, but more than that his hands are calloused in the bitcoin business so his knowledge is proven and real world.
Excellent presentation for a novice about what is money where are we heading for a disaster if not corrected. Who can bell the cat of money printing and destruction beyond redemption .Does his Bitcoin hypothesis save money and people.
Excellent presentation for a novice about what is money where are we heading for a disaster if not corrected. Who can bell the cat of money printing and destruction beyond redemption .Does his Bitcoin hypothesis save money and people.
Great book to introduce you about bitcoins and how our current money works in general. The author is a large bitcoin fanboy from what I can gather which put me off at times. But generally the book is actually great especially to beginners such as me. Would recommend to anyone interested in cryptocurrency and understanding it! Author has a good sense of humor so the book was not boring and it was quite easy to understand!!
Loved this short book. It's only 60% about Bitcoin, the other 40% explains very clearly what the issues are with fiat. There's no doubt that Bitcoin is the most solid money we've ever seen. My only gripe with the book is its recommendation not to buy coffee with BTC. As long as you buy back the BTC you spent on coffee immediately, you can and should buy coffee with BTC to support the network, especially using Lightning's near-zero transaction fees.
A very easy to read book which explains a lot of the major concepts behind bitcoin in a simple and easily digestible way. Although the author focuses solely on bitcoin, and why (in his opinion) it will become the next world currency through devaluation and volatility of other major world currencies through manipulation by central banks, it nonetheless makes a very good argument on why investors should look to diversifying their holdings into cryptocurrencies.
