Will these best friends find their way to romance, or will outside threats tear them apart?
After years in hiding, Beth Jones is finally free from the shadow of her notorious outlaw father and brothers. She’s found her place creating beauty in Grady’s Dress Shop, but still longs for a husband and family of her own.
Jake Carson is back on a ranch, exactly where he belongs. He’s loved Beth as long as he’s known her and is finally ready to make his intentions known.
Beth has been protected from many of the horrors around her for her entire life, but matters of the heart are something she’ll have to navigate herself. After a rocky start, Jake and Beth seem to finally be on their way. But when cattle rustlers threaten Jake’s livelihood and an old threat comes back to haunt them, Jake and Beth must lean on their faith in the Lord and each other to see them through.
I really enjoyed this second book in the Legacy series. I enjoy already being familiar with the setting and seeing my favorite characters again!
Jake was probably my favorite character in the first book, so I really liked seeing and understanding him more in The Faith Legacy. I also loved getting to know Beth. I appreciated that she was a creative type and was sometimes impulsive. I like those types of heroines. I also like the gentle hero who can get angry when pushed too far, which Jake was pretty good at.
It took a little long for Jake to come around to telling Beth how he felt. I was glad that Beth had a date with another man because Jake needed to face reality and get moving!! The family aspect of this series is really fun for me. I like that Carissa's husband Matthew and Beth easily feel like family - and that Jake fits right in too. Interestingly, Abigail already feels like one of their sisters, so her story involving Carissa and Beth's brother Kade will be a fun one in the next book.
Cute story, great faith content, and I'm looking forward to book 3.
Sweet story of Beth, sister of Karissa. She is happily working as a seamstress in Pine Creek and still admiring Jake, her cowboy. She’s not sure if he has feelings for her, as he has never shown anything more than friendship to her. However, when Pete, the livery owner starts giving her flowers, then asks her to eat with him at the diner, Jake is finally spurred into making his interest known.
Abigail is introduced in this story. She is fleeing from a wicked man who intends to marry her to obtain her large inheritance. She is rescued from some ruffians by Matthew and Karissa of all people while they are having their wedding trip in Charleston, SC.
Great story with romance, sweet kisses, action and suspense. I loved the Christian theme throughout and especially the epilogue ❤️💐
I didn't read book one, so this one felt like parts were missing. I still enjoyed the story, which has a lot going on and a huge cast of characters, but that was why I gave it only 3.5 stars. I really liked that it is faith based, even though the behaviour felt a bit more modern for that time period than I would have expected. There is also a fair amount of winking, which seemed odd. Overall, it is interesting and enjoyable, but I think it will be more so if you read book 1 first so you have the back-story. P.S. ok, so I bought and read book one and now this book makes more sense. So I've upgraded to 4 stars. I do think the author should decide if she wants a true series or a standalone series, because the prologue appears to be an attempt at standalone, but the rest of the story is not truly standalone. There are parts that don't make sense without book one. But if you read book one first, this prologue is weird. In keeping with a true series, it would have been better as chapter one of the first book. Instead both books start chapter one 2yrs into their stay, book 1 being Karissa's story and book 2 being Beth's story. Still, this was an enjoyable read.
The author has penned a sweet and heartwarming story full of faith and with lots of action. This is Beth Jones and Jake Carson's story, and the character development is excellent. Beth has spent a number of years running from the fact that her father and brothers are hardened famous criminals. She and her sister (Karissa) ran upon the death of their mother attempting to start their lives over. Once settled in their new town, Beth met Jake and they became good friends. When Jake's ranch is visited by cattle rustlers and then old secrets surface, the couple must decide what lies ahead. Will they resolve all the problems and become more than friends and reach a HEA. Be sure to read this wonderful story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Beth and Jake are the main characters in this one. Everyone treats Beth as if she were... well, the weaker vessel. Yes, she's precious, but she's more capable than those around her allow her to be. She's gutsy and will fight for her loved ones.
Jake is insecure and not living in faith. I loved seeing him grow through that tough place.
Of course there's more Wild West action in this story. That's always exciting for me. The storytelling was good. Talks of God and prayer were realistically woven into the story.
As I said in my review of the first book I LOVED THIS SERIES!! It was so entertaining, uplifting and action packed. This is the second sisters book. A great friendship has lasted years, but can a the budding relationship last? The books are set in Texas after the Civil War. I just really, really loved this whole series.
Thankful that Faith in God is all thru this story.
Intrigue, handsome hero, beautiful heroine and a wonderful cast of characters. The damage done by family members who were involved in criminal activity could only be redeemed thru Jesus and love of others. I’ll be looking for the other books in this series. I started with this one so I’ll have to look for the others.
This second book was just as enjoyable as the first one. Lots of action and demonstration of unfiltered love and care for one another. Then there’s always that one person who makes you so scared that they’ll get caught. And finally, a story that lifts Jesus up and shows the way to freedom and happiness. Can’t wait to begin book 3.
This is a good romantic suspense story. It also gives us a powerful reminder. Our worth is not based on what we or others think, but on what Jesus did for us. Praise God! Very well done!
Beth has been taken with Jake for two years just waiting on him. See Jake knows he loves her he just wants everything perfect. When he is offered the job of a lifetime, he knows the time is right. Trouble is ahead for him though. Can they make it? Great book.
Living the life God intended and it all works out.
A tender love story, set in a time that wasn't so easy. Good neighbors with good hearts are what makes it all come together. Plans for the future are made and the work is begun..
Starting your life over after your life was torn out beneath you isn’t easy. Beth and her sister left their home after helping the law put her father and brothers into prison for murders and robbery. This is one of those stories that give you a feel good moment.
Malory Ford did a great on this book. Two sisters arrive with almost nothing between them. They are taken in by the preacher. Everything starts from there. The marriage of one, the other soon finds her cowboy. Jeanette Stracner
After being in an evil kind of family. After helping to bring her siblings to justice. Life turns into a better way to live. Her dreams start to come true, but there are challenges that can test one's faith.
In this book you will read about wonderful people who are willing to help others, cattle rustlers and best friends helping each other? Beth and Jake’s story will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
Another wonderful book. Now I'm off to read the next one. I've really enjoyed this author's books and I don't have to worry about scenes I'd rather not read.
Love the whole books in this series. Can't imagine what these sisters went through. Because of their outlaw father. This series is a must read in my book.
Another great book in this series!! These characters wonderful! There grab my attention and my heart from the very first page! The storyline is wonderful! I can't wait to read Kade's story!
Good read. Clean read .enjoyed the family-friendly town. Sometimes it would be nice to escape to simpler times. Work was harder and I like the modern convenient.
