The daughter of a vampire and werewolf, Halie is aware of the world she lives in. Her dad, Raymond Walther, is required to attend a mandatory pack meeting with their new Alpha, Marco, and Halie accompanies him. She is familiar with the paranormal world even though her parents have kept her protected and away from much of it until she decides which path to choose, vampire or werewolf. Also attending is a new werewolf to the pack, Neil, who looks close to her age and they enjoy each other’s company. They take a walk in the woods, and he tells her about life as a werewolf. Then he gives her a first kiss and she kisses back.

But Sasson, a nasty werewolf accidentally turned and lacking control, makes his presence known. But when an attack comes, Neil tries to protect her while Sasson circles and keeps trying to get at her. The two of them fight to get to her, and she sees them as monsters, the kind she never wants to be! Neil had kept Sasson from doing any real harm to her. He is standing there and apologizes. His wounds are quickly healing and he starts to ask her something, then instead wishes her a safe trip home as she leaves. She just wants to stay human, at least until she is older. When her parents ask how they can help her through this, what will her answer be?

This was an awesome story that had me hooked from the beginning. The characters are so good, and there is so much love in the family. This was a great prequel because everything is up in the air with decisions to be made and now bad experiences to be factored in. What will they do now?

Raised by a vampire and a werewolf Halie is familiar with the paranormal world even though her parents have kept her protected and away from much of it. When her father is called to a mandatory pack meeting with the new Alpha, Halie must also attend. She makes a connection with a new werewolf close to her age. He spends the night showing her how good life can be as a werewolf but when she is attacked, Halie might decide taking the bite is not for her at all.

This is a prequel, a teaser that introduces you to the main characters and sets up their backstories. It captured my interest immediately and left me wanting the first book as soon as possible.

This book is a laugh and funny way of love with a vampire mother and wolf dad. Halie is a young woman that has to decide which one she wants to be vampire or wolf? I think both would be awesome. I screamed and cried for halie and Neil. That wolf is just crazy and a killer. I am going to bed looking in the dark for that wolf for a while. This is a great short story full of life, love, paranormal and screams. I can not wait for the next one.

This is a quick and fun read.

A vampire mother, a werewolf father, exiled because of their love for each other.

Halie is the adopted daughter of the pair. Simple enough story, with both mother and father wanting Halie to choose their side to become one of them.

But then Dad takes Halie to visit the Alpha and things go... Well, I'll have to let you read it for yourself.

I'm going to hold my opinion and just grade the book as a YA story and say I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series so I can better judge Halie.

A great introduction to some fantastic characters with strong chemistry, the paranormal world and a little back story for Halie, a human raised by a werewolf father and vampire mother, in this story about a night of unintended adventure. After reading this short story, I am very much looking forward to finding out what happens next in this series.

I thought this prequel was intriguing. It was a similar theme of paranormal characters trying to find their way but with a wonderfully exciting twist. I liked how the story played out except I’m hoping that the connection she felt with him is part of the future story rather than s hit or miss. I felt like they were done but one can hope.

This was a great look into a new series. Halie is the social outcast. Raised by a shifter father and a vampire mother, she longs to be normal. When a accident happens at the wolf compound, she gets her parents to agree to move. I can not wait to read the next book.

Just a taste! Lili gives us just enough to want more in this prequel.  I love that the FMC has loving parents even if their family unit is a wee bit unusual.   I have so many questions right now, I can only hope the next book is right around the corner!

Intriguing start to the series

This is only a short story but it raises enough questions to whet the appetite for the next book. I will definitely be reading it as soon as it is published.

Loved the story line but needs more

I loved the story line but I feel like it's rushed and needs more to it. This could be an epic series if it had more details and not seemed so rushed.

reserving judgement on the FMC until I see more development of her character in book two. How I Run was a quick easy read, to be expected for a YA book. Pretty common premise of wolves/vampires and their hate for each other, And which side is a girl to choose?

Great book

I really enjoyed reading about the choices made by a teen within this book. There were many interesting characters that held my attention well. I wished this book was available on Audible to listen to while reading.

Short but fun

This is a fun book to read. I like most of the characters. One is mean but well written. I look forward to reading more of this story.
