Brujo: Grimoire of a Puerto Rican Witch

Rate this book
Brujería is the Spanish word for witchcraft. A male witch is called a Brujo and a female witch is a Bruja. Most Witches choose to work alone but some have covens or are part of a magical fraternity. Brujería is a spiritual path based on personal experience and personal power. I am a Puerto Rican Brujo/Witch who has been practicing magic since childhood. This book is written to be a standalone manual on how you can start practicing ancestral witchcraft. Hence forth I am going to be using the term “witch” as a pronoun since it has become a gender-neutral term in neopaganism. I give you permission to practice, elaborate, and expand on the spells and magical techniques in this book. Nothing in this book is going to cause you harm. Also, everything I teach you is “open”. That means anyone of any ethnicity can practice without fear of cultural appropriation. If you are accused of cultural appropriation when performing any techniques out of this book direct them to me. If you are reading this book, you are coming under my protection as your mentor and I accept you as one of my “godchildren at large”. Witchcraft is for everybody regardless of the word used for it.

Author's a racist, transphobic, cultural appropriating POS who lectures on closed practices and gets everything wrong, and when called out by people of that practice, says "you need to take your big Black @ss off my page and never come back, you are ignorant and you're entitled--and that's the worst kind of Black" and misgenders the person who called him out.

I hope you get so much bad medicine, hexes, curses, everything put on your racist ass that you and the next 10 generations of your family can't get no damn luck. Ugly ass.

So much false information. The author clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about. When corrected, he goes on racist and transphobic screeds. Do not buy.

I bought this book for a friend that is a Hoodoo practitioner. I thought they would enjoy it, but after reading it they told me he wasn't very knowledgeable and spoke with authority on things he didn't really understand.

After doing some research online, it looks like he's doing more harm than good towards other practitioners. The author is a white man that really has no business speaking so callously to those that, without them, he would not have this spiritual framework, this book, or this work, that frankly he is not a reliable source for.

It's unfortunate to those people he hurt, but not a loss because there are so many more valuable Black voices that deserve their works read. I hope readers will go to those authors and not RP.

Dude writes about cultures that aren't his and on closed practices. Also what little research he does on any of his projects are half baked at best and doesn't have a clear understanding on the subjects he writes or vlogs about.

He's a racist white dude. He claims "puerto rican" to try and steal legitimacy away from the practices. He's been called out by MANY real practitioners (a wise lady FROM HAITI in one famous instance), and his response was to: BE RACIST TO BLACK PEOPLE.

He's just a racist white. Typical mulungu colonizer shit.

Not joking here btw.
He got his tiktok page banned and his backup locked down. All cuz he was lying about his craft and when called out by black people he went FULL racist.

This book was poorly written and it's very obvious that the writer did not do his research on many topics. Not worth your time.

It’s a great grimoire! And he’s married to another great advanced practitioner! If Mama Foot approves then this is a great book, regardless of Tik Tok morals. Give this book a fair chance. Your opinion on someone doesn’t change the craft. Stay Safe!

I was so disappointed with this book.
-"This book is written for any English-speaking Puerto Rican who wants to get in touch with their spiritual roots." -This is word by word the author's quote on the back of this book.
Let me tell you, IF YOU ARE PUERTO RICAN LOOKING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR SPIRITUAL ROOTS, THIS IS NOT THE BOOK!
This book is titled Brujo a Grimoire of a Puerto Rican Witch. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, ZERO
To me, as a Puerto Rican woman, it is insulting, and I felt deceived and tricked into buying this book, thinking that I was going to get an insight into Puerto Rican magic. Instead, what I got was a lot of "Baba," as we say on the Island. Instead, what I got was an absurd lecture on cultural appropriation
while simultaneously adding Hinduism to most of this book and his practices. And by the way, no disrespect to Hinduism at all, but it is NOT Puerto Rican!
Last, and taking my feelings aside, this book is mostly surface-level information.
I hate leaving bad reviews, but this book was a major disappointment.

This guy Ryan Pimentel totally appropriated every single practice. He’s racist, homophobic, transphobic and an all round speaker of cultures and practices. He claims various percentages in his racial profile but is essentially a white side who steals from other cultures. Spend your money in the real thing rather than the rubbish from this particular list.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. This author is racist and appropriating culture they clearly no nothing about when they are corrected on their incorrect info on these things they turn nasty and result to racist rhetoric believing they are entitled to all things because they’re white.

Would rate 0 stars if possible. The information in this book is outrageously incorrect, disrespectful, and dangerous. The author is a racist, toxic person who should not be compensated for exploiting closed practices and spreading hate and anti-Blackness

These ratings are slanderous from people who are not in the practice & never read the book. These are uneducated tiktok children who don't know they difference between Haitian voodoo & sanse. He made a mistake and learned & fixed it.

A lot to learn from this book

A great book with lots of info you can use. Being a little witch myself it helped me come to realize my own potential.

Book was garbage, and the author is ill-informed while appropriating a culture he doesn’t belong to. He’s also really really transphobic and is pretty abusive on social media. Classic narcissist.
