Magic Tree House Research Guide: Space presents a lot of interesting information about space in a fun, easy-to-read format that is accessible to younger readers. As a child, I was very interested in the solar system and space travel. For a time, I studied and followed space travel very closely, and this book was like a nice walk down memory lane. There were a few notable omissions from the book though, such as the Pioneer and Voyager interstellar space probes, Mars exploration (it was really only mentioned in the future of space travel), and the dangers of space travel such as what occurred with Apollo 1 & 13, and the space shuttles, Columbia and Challenger (there was only one brief mention of the Challenger explosion in a photo caption). I'm sure though that much of this was in deference to the younger readers for which the book was intended, so as not to present disturbing information and also to keep the book at a reasonable length so as not to loose the intended reader's attention. There is also the problem of the book becoming too quickly outdated, as many outer space related events have occurred since the publication of this book, such as the declassification of Pluto as a planet, the more successful Mars missions, the Columbia explosion, the continuing work and drama aboard the ISS, and the flights of privately funded space missions and tourists. I was generally able to overlook these downfalls though as I found the information that was presented in the book to be accurate and well done. I thought Space was a fun, informative read especially when taken in light of the age group for which it was intended. It is also great for parents and children to read-aloud together, an overall enjoyable book that I would definitely recommend.

Magic Tree House - Fact Finder #6 - Space - by Will Osborne

I really enjoyed this book. I read this as a Library E Book. I am going to buy this book from Amazon. I love anything that has to do with Astronomy - I love Space - the Stars - and so on.

My High School is named after one of the Astronauts...in fact - he came to my High School Dedication Service after it was built and he brought the Space Shuttle and place it on the School Grounds. It was so neat to be able to be there and meet the Astronaut and to see the Space Shuttle. I am never ever going to forget this at all. It was a very special day for my small town and for my Newly Built High
School at that time. It is so neat that my School was named after the one Astronaut.

I give this book 5/5 Stars.

These Tree House Fact Finders Books are very educational and you learn so much about something from reading these kinds of books.

Magic Tree House Fact Tracker: Space, is a book by Will Osborne and Mary Pope Osborne. The book is all about space. It talks about astronomers like Ptolemy, Copernicus, and Galileo. The book tells about our solar system, the sun, planets, and the moons. In addition, the book tells about space travel, and living and working in space.

There are many interesting facts in this book. One fact is that Sputnik, the first space satellite, was the size of a beach ball! Another fact is that space has no gravity. Lastly, it is fascinating that all the gas planets have rings.

My favorite part is when they talked about the planets. The book compared each planet to Earth. It gave interesting facts about each planet. For example, Uranus rotates like a bowling ball! Space is amazing, and we learn more about it every day!

This is the non fiction companion to Midnight on the Moon. As with the others, lots of pictures an illustrations bring the facts to life and there are definitions and pronunciation guides throughout, along with research tips and further resources.

This book is rated 🌟🌟🌟 and a half 🌟s. I enjoyed this book because I like magic tree house fiction books. I did not like this book because I don't really like space.

My kids like these "Fact Tracker" books! The topics are often broad, much broader than the Magic Tree House books they accompany, in fact (like this one goes with "Midnight On the Moon," but the Fact Tracker is "Space" - so it covers early astronomy, the solar system, unmanned satellites and probes, the Moon landing, and things like the ISS and future plans for Mars and the search for extra-terrestrial life . . . much broader than just "the Moon!"

Did you know that shooting stars are just meteors flying? and if they hit the Earth they're called meteorites? This book told me that and many other fun facts. I recommend this book to space lovers and inquisitive readers.

In 2002, Mary Pope Osborne and her husband, Will Osborne published the Magic Tree House Fact Trackers entitled Space. This book is a nonfiction research guide to the book entitled Midnight on the Moon by Mary Pope Osborne, which was published in 1996. In 2006, Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet from a full planet that dates this book which contains an introduction to the solar system still introduces Pluto (NASA 2023). The book also contains an introduction to astronomy, a history of astronomy, the universe, and the history of space exploration, including the Space Race in the 1960s. The Space Race was between the United States and the Soviet Union over space exploration. The book also introduces what life was like for astronauts in the early 21st Century. The book is for young readers. The book has wonderful black-and-white illustrations. The book has wonderful black-and-white photographs. The illustrator for this book was Sal Murdocca. Similar to the other books in the Magic Tree House Fact Trackers series, the book has a section on how to do more research for young readers about space, including planetariums and space museums that readers can visit. The book has an index and includes photo credits. The book had scientific consultants and an educational consultant. Osbornes’ book on Space is a good introduction to space from before 2006.

So far I am on page 49 of Space. Space is a wonderful book! The book starts out with and intersting introduction it talks about Astronomy and how we have always wondered about the sky. It also has so many fun facts like the word solar come from Sol (ancient Roman God of the sun), it take the sun's heat eight minutes to reach the Earth, one light year is 5,880 billion miles,that when the sun grows older it will become a red giant star and so much more! I am about to read more into detail about the planets in our solar system.

I have just finished the book. In the last few chapters it talks about the end of the space race, space stations, space shuttles, and the future. It was such an interesting topic and I love it. I would warn you that it is proabaly a lower level of reading then yours, but that shouldn't stop you.

I really think that space is really cool especially since the sun is so hot and so far away from Earth, and it gives all that heat onto Earth. What do you think of that? Isn't that cool that the sun gives all this heat from a very, very, very far distance and that sun waves coming from inside of the sun vibrate on the outside of the sun? I think that space has many secrets to it, and speaking of space, there's a show called Sailor Moon that I think you would want to watch. Unless you are really good at reading, I think you probably want to do the English one. I prefer the English one. The reason I said "speaking of space" is because all the sailors are named after planets. Sailor Venus, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Mercury.

This is a great book to introduce the basics about space and astronomy to children. It really complements the book Midnight On The Moon and once again, I'm surprised at how much our girls enjoyed reading it, since it's not a story. They are eager to read more of the Research Guides!

From this book, I learnt a lot about astronomy and the solar system. It was all spelt out in a very simple way, but was fun to read. From it I have learnt a mnemonic, how to remember all the planets names in order from the sun without fault, using the first letter of each planet - My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles. But because Pluto isn’t a planet anymore I had to change it slightly to, My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nachos. It was interesting to learn that most of the planets are named after Roman Gods.

I didn't find space particularly interesting when I was in second grade, but I forced myself to read through this book the first time, continued to read through it over and over, and still remember all the knowledge I've learned to this day, more than six years later. Surprisingly, this information has seriously saved me in scattered little situations and moments that I still marvel upon. I have no idea why I forced myself to read through it the first time, but I am so tremendously glad that I did.

Reading Level: intermediate and up

This is a great resource for both students and teachers. It allows students to find out the facts about our solar system. It is put in simple terms that are easily understood. I love the pictures that compare the sizes of solar system members to items that students readily know. This book is a great companion to any science fiction book about our solar system.
