I read fantasy, sci-fi, and lit fic unless someone pushes it on me, at which point I rebel and make sure to never read that title. I don't understand it either.
Not quite done (still have book 7) but a quick note to start the review: 1-4 were a lot of fun. Zipped right through those. I took a break after 4 to read 2 other books, then came back. 5 was still just fine...then 6 started to drag. Something the reader has known since book 1 (chapter 1?) was still not obvious to Jessica -and it was getting annoying. But FINALLY revealed. But book 6 felt long. (Again, that could be because it was, for me, both 5 and 6). The 'not realizing the big thing' was getting annoying. The relationships...not progressing. Etc. Then - big revelation (wording intentional! couldn't help myself) at the end of book 6 gave me the needed push. Onward! Update - finished. Glad I didn't take another break. Really a fun series that touched on tough issues. I really liked that the author noted that the next series is no her story to write, but I agree with her that I do hope it gets written. Some typos/wrong words were occasionally distracting (maybe a kindle specific issue?) ,and that book 6 was slow. but overall a recommend. (sorry - not quite a "loved" but it actually came close!)
I really enjoyed the premise and the execution of this story. As a progressive Christian, the pronouns and patriarchy are of big interest. If you’re offended by alternate views of God, Jesus, and faith, don’t read this. If, however, those intrigue you, it’s a fun read.
Not my normal type of story, but I think it is a winner. I stuck with it through all 7 books. That tells you something about it makes it worth the effort.
It is a well written, original tale about God's second child. A girl this time. Do not think this is a religious tome, it is not. It is a well imagined and wonderfully executed fantasy, that I highly recommend.
