Lily Dickinson’s discovery of a dead gamekeeper in a cottage near a country lane leads to a search for his killer. Suspects range from employees of the nearby Grangehurst estate to a number of dangerous characters much closer to home.
Before Lily can face the murderer, she needs to enlist the aid of her younger sister Iris. But with Lily still refusing to share the secret of the trunk in the attic, will Iris be willing to help when Lily needs her most?
Blythe Baker is a thirty-something bottle redhead from the South Central part of the country. When she’s not slinging words and creating new worlds and characters, she’s acting as chauffeur to her children and head groomer to her household of beloved pets.
Blythe enjoys long walks with her dog on sweaty days, grubbing in her flower garden, cooking, and ruthlessly de-cluttering her overcrowded home. She also likes binge-watching mystery shows on TV and burying herself in books about murder.
Grandhurst, Yorkshire, England. Blythe Baker’s A Tangle of Secrets (Dickinson Sisters #4) has Lily Dickinson becoming a definite part of the team that investigates the death of the gamekeeper of the Grangehurst Estate (real name Billborough Hall ). The Grangehurst Estate has recently changed owners and been bought by Nash Greenwood’s aunt and uncle, Lord and Lady Wilson. Lady Wilson is not pleased that Lily is working with Constable Brown, and Lord Wilson wants the gamekeeper’s murder solved quickly. Working as fast as they can, Lily is the one who discovers the true answers to this unexpected murder. But what about the trunk and the disagreement with Iris? 4.5 stars.
So far they are all murders. Each story is complete and the arc is intriguing. Goll darn it. We must wait until book 5 to determine what Miss Iris discovers hidden in the old trunk by her sister. I'm guessing it will link to a murder in the family which they will certainly solve. Perhaps book 6 provides yet another murder forcing the sisters to solve the puzzle prior to their double marriage to the retired ship's Captain and the handsome young fire captain. Or...not.

Iris wants to know what is in the locked trunk in the attic. Lily won't tell her. Come along and find out how this case is solved. You will enjoy the ride. The plot is well constructed and the story is well written. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
TANGLE OF SECRETS.....Dickerson.....Blythe..Baker Thinking there was a fire Lily went back in for the trunk that was in the attic. Then Iris has been upset with her because she refused to open the trunk. The torture was of her own doing yet, Iris should never know the contents of. She was seeing Nash if married was old enough, so why was Lily protecting her. A walk in the country side Lily notices the gamekeeper’s body, would Iris help her find out who had done it. A request had been asked and the deed was done. Lily realizing no secrets should be between them they were family Would Iris see. It that way now knowing. Good series hearing more about Iris and Lily. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Lily and Iris are at odds over the trunk in the attic. While Lily is out walking just to get away from Iris for a while, she becomes concerned over a dog in distress. When she investigates, she discovers the gameskeeper of Grangehurst estate has been shot. As there may be a chance that he is still alive, she runs to town to get the Constable. After he is brought to town, he is declared dead by the doctor. Will Iris help Lily solve the case? Quick, enjoyable read.
Told in Lily's voice instead of Iris's. Lily is more staid and treats her sister like a child, even though there are few years between them. Lily stumbles upon a dead man and helps Constable Brown with the investigation. The deceased was standoffish and surely in life, and no one seems to know much about him although he had worked as gamekeeper for Lord Wilson for nearly 40 years. Which makes the age of Lord Wilson a bit dicey. Unfortunately, the conclusion was a bit unbelievable, or at least I couldn't fully buy it.
Lily tells the story of finding severly injured gamekeeper on premises of Nash Greenwood's aunt and uncle's manor house. She joins Constable Brown in investigating what turns out to be the murder of Mr. Shaw, who, it seems, no one knew or liked. Many names arise during the investigation, but eventually the murderer is found, but the reason for the murder is a twist. Lily makes a decision about her relationship with Iris.

Not my favorite of the series, but still enjoyable. Lily is out walking when she hears a dog barking frantically from inside a small cottage. The body she finds begins a long and frustrating investigation on the part of the Constable and Lily to find the murderer. The owners of the estate who employed the man as a gamekeeper for several years are demanding that the killer be found, scornful toward both the Constable and Lily, and not at all helpful with information.
Ok, ok I get it. The sisters solve crimes, even better than the local Constable. Right now they are estranged because Lily won't let her younger sister Iris know what is in the trunk locked in the attic. Also will Iris finally get a marriage proposal? Stay tuned to the next book if you care to find out.
This book was wonderful. Lily has learned so much in a short time by just using her senses in one way. She truly loves her sister and does not want to see her hurt. Can't wait to read the next book where the long awaited secret will be revealed. This author is a master story teller.
A Tangle of Secrets...(The Dickinson Sisters Mysteries Book 4)
Another wonderful mystery by a fine writer..Miss Blythe Baker....the reading Goes quickly...and the mystery is very hard to solve...enjoy!! you have a fun adventure ahead...💖
This episode is again narrated by the older sister Lily, a very interesting and upright character. And the setting is very different from the poverty-stricken village in which her first narrated adventure took place, being a very well-staffed estate, where Lily and the constable are not exactly made welcome. It is certainly not a fair mystery in the classic style. Too much information is withheld; significant characters appear late in the narrative. Yet setting that expectation aside, Lily's tenacity in uncovering the truth makes for a satisfying reading experience. And the matter of the Family Secret moves forward (I just hope no evil twins are involved).
