A Dark Legacy

Rate this book
Born to be a pawn. Destined to be a King.

Ryker’s life has always been shrouded by darkness; a feeling that encased him since he was born, protecting him from those who hate his kind. Growing up feeling unloved, unworthy and unwanted was all he ever knew. But he was more than human- stronger, more powerful and heir to a dangerous kingdom. As his will was demising, and he was ready to accept his fate, something he always struggled with, he met Elodie. A spunky girl who has a mind of her own, and turns his world upside down. It is only then that he gets a taste of freedom. For the first time, love is no longer just a word. The shackles of darkness finally start to loosen.

But as Lucifer’s heir to Hell, Ryker is expected to follow in his Father’s footsteps and take over the army entrusted with conquering, and enslaving the mortal realm. Yet, he is changed. He has no desire to fulfill his legacy. He craves freedom. A life of his own.

On his seventeenth birthday, he runs away with Elodie in a feeble attempt to escape his legacy. However, they are intercepted and captured by the Fallen; his Father’s most loyal followers. Taken to the Underworld, Ryker is forced to become what he despises most. Without knowing of Elodie’s fate, he spirals into despair, giving into the darkness. That is, until he meets a band of derelict Nephilim that guide him back, and show him a different path. He is not alone. An escape from their Hell may just be plausible, after all. However, Ryker is entrusted into the mentorship of Abbie, better known as Abaddon. In order to fool her, he must give in to his darkest self, if he’s to survive. As he continues to spend time with the Angel of Death, he realizes she is much different than he had expected her to be. She is like nothing he could have ever imagined. And there is a connection between them that he cannot explain. No matter how much he tries, he just can’t get her out of his mind.

Strangers turn into family, and enemies become allies. But when no one is who they seem … how do you know who to trust? In a race against time, he must turn onto those who are closest to his Father, if he’s to escape, and survive.

But can anyone truly ever escape Hell?

She loves the beach, or hanging out by any body of water, and would forever love you if you gift her books and let her sleep in.

This was such an entertaining, fun and quick read.
I loved seeing Ryker and Abbie’s beginnings from what we saw of them in the Feathermore trilogy. I really love Abbie, she is my favorite type of character. I definitely love them as a couple and I’m looking forward to see what happens in the next book after that cliffhanger! I also enjoyed meeting some of the people and items that we read about briefly in the first trilogy. I was worried about Elodie because I liked her, but I didn’t know how she would fit into the overall story, but I think that it was done really well. I would have enjoyed reading more about how the school was a game or they were lab rats because I don’t remember what the school was originally for, but what it came to be. Overall, I really enjoyed this and I’m excited to see what Ryker does next in book 2!

Lucy! You’ve truly out done yourself with this novel. Everything about Ryker makes me want to know more and the way you effortlessly add in Easter eggs from your other series makes my heart happy. (No you don’t have to read the Feathermore series first but I recommend)

Your world building is one of my absolute favourites and this book is proof that everything I thought I knew about angels, the devil, and the fallen through other books is just scratching the surface.

Ryker’s life until he turns 17 is not easy and it’s easy to feel sorry for him and his birthday is nothing less than what I’d expect from the son of the devil. From that moment on everything has a deeper purpose. From having THE worst father imaginable, to having the girl of your dreams so close yet so far away, man I need a minute to breathe.

The way Ryker uses his darkness to somehow find light and make friends is enjoyable to see and it’s nice to know he was finally important to someone. I think you set up these relationships perfectly for book 2 and I’m ready to see where the magic unfolds.

The plot is captivating and fast pace and I never lost interest in what was on my page. I think the relationships between characters is realistic in that they all need each other in one way or another and no one sees themselves as better (even if one has more power).

I can honestly never say thank you enough for letting me read this book and god do I already want book 2 🤦🏻‍♀️ be ready for my many thoughts while reading ♥️
