Can a scarred heart learn to love again?

Noah

My unit was attacked, leaving every soldier with the option to fight our way out or die. I was one of the lucky few that made it—but not without battle scars. Half my body is scorched and blistered, the pain is unbearable. I can’t imagine anyone will want to look at me, much less be with me, after this... until I meet Lexi. She came to visit her brother and stayed when she realized I have no one. Now, all that gets me through the anguish of treatments and physical therapies is the chance to see her beautiful smile again.

Lexi

After fighting for their country, no soldier should have to suffer the painful healing alone. Yet that’s not what brings me back to Noah day after day. He’s helping me work through the grief of losing my husband. But the day of his release is fast approaching. Our feelings for each other are undeniable. Will what’s between us last outside the hospital walls? Or will the emotional and physical scars we both carry destroy our chance at a fresh start?

Another book recommended to me and another author that. I basically fell in love from page 1.

So as far as what I was told this whole series is center around Military Heroes…….. And what great start to this series
Fair Warning. this is very powerfully emotional story
Honestly, I do not know how many times I wiped away tears from my eyes as I read this book …. I really do not know who story broke my heart more Noah or Lexi……… Let me just say that each one suffers a in different ways.
Dang, I don’t know where to start on this one

Let me start off with Whitney, she is every man’s nightmare.………. Not every Pretty package has something special inside……… this witch, she travels all the way from stateside to Germany just to break up with Noah in front of all his Injured teammates in a hospital. Come on, who does this?

I could tell you about how, -(Lexi’s best friend and sister-in-law) Becky, gets that dreaded phone call that her husband has been injured while serving For the military Overseas……. and how Lexi stood by Noa’s side for months to help him through the hardest time of his life. She was there in his worst moments and never turned her back on him. She gave him a reason to fight.

And I can also tell you how Noah had Taught Lexi how to truly Live again.

She had felt lighter than she had for a long time, and she had Caught herself smiling more and more due to Noah……… so yeah together they were stronger and helped each other heal in their own way…….

I have a feeling that if I continue to read this series that, I’m going to have to Invest in A Kleenex Company.

I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. I just don’t know when I’ll read it cuz of All that is necessary in purchasing A Kleenex Company…..Happy Reading Everyone, I’ll see you on the other side

You know… the author really missed an opportunity - a responsibility, even - to recognize the backstory behind a Georgia plantation.

Regardless of how lovely a former plantation home looks now, plantations exist solely through the labor of enslaved people who were bought, sold and punished like chattel.

No amount of prettying up today can change that legacy. People - WHITE people - who get married under the ancient trees ignore the fact that they’re basically doing so in a former internment camp.

In this book, specifically, Lexi is excited to imagine the history of the house - mostly through what she hopes is an Underground Railroad stop. This is the key part of ignorance: focusing on the “see, there were GOOD people here!” part of the narrative, whether confirmed or not. Meanwhile, she talks about the various outbuildings around the property: most likely barns (worked by enslaved people); sorting sheds (where enslaved adults and children worked past exhaustion); guest cottages (where enslaved people served but weren’t allowed to live); shacks (where enslaved people lived in poverty, unable to better their station through reading or ownership of property)… you get the idea.

DEATH happened there.

But Lexi and Noah are using this property as a place of healing! Well… lean into that! Work it into the story!
*****
EXAMPLE:
“Gosh,” said Noah, “it’s hard to imagine that a place this beautiful has such a brutal history.”

“We can’t erase it, but we can do our part to change it,” said Lexi. “We can acknowledge the past to make sure it never happens again… and we can use it as a place where we can help heal the present, too.”

“Yes, I was very uncomfortable with this when you told me about the plantation house,” said [Friendly but not token Black character who has an actual backstory and isn’t there to serve as a Magical Negro a la Bagger Vance - please note that this book doesn’t seem to contain a single character of color, despite the many BIPOC serving in the military alongside their white brothers and sisters]. “Intergenerational trauma brings up a lot of big feelings that are hard to work through, much like war.”

“You’re so right,” said Noah. “I really appreciate how you’ve made this a place where we can confront all of these horrors and do everything we can to make things better. It sure does give me and the guys a bigger sense of purpose. It’s like that brotherhood we had over in the sandbox!”

“It’s not easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is; it takes a lot of hard work,” said Lexi. “But we’re on our way!”

“And I know something ELSE that’s hard,” said Noah.

“Oh, YOU!” said Lexi, and they made out.

THE END
*****

It’s just that easy!

Saving Noah is a clean military romance. A vanilla romance. After read many books with long length, I feel like I want to take a break and pick up a simple read. Saving Noah delivers what it needed to be in a clean romance category.

I am still getting to know Miss Rose's writing style. So far her books that I read, is good enough. The chemistry is build sweetly between Noah and Lexy. Listening to their story, is like wishing living in the bubble romance where everything works out fine at the end.
Min drama. Min plot.

4.5 Star review of Saving Noah (Oakside Military Heroes #1) by Kaci Rose
Oh my word, what a start to Kaci Rose’s latest series. This is Noah and Lexi's story and one that drew me in and held me captive from the first paragraph to the last. My emotions were all over the place reading this roller coaster of a story.
After being injured in an horrific attack defending his country Noah is recovering in hospital, badly burned and scared he has no one to stand beside him and support him in his fight to recover; that right there broke my heart. He is in so much pain that I am surprised that he was able to fight through it and he knows that no one will want him now with the horrendous injuries he has sustained.
I loved how Lexi and her friend Becky dropped everything when they learned that her brother Johnny and his team has been injured in an attack and flew to Germany to support him. What Noah doesn't count on is Lexi, who whilst visiting her brother, learns that Noah has no one to encourage him to fight through the pain of his treatments and recovery. What an inspirational and special woman she is when she decides that helping Noah during his recovery is what she is meant to do.
As feelings develop between them, the big question remains, can it last once he leaves the hospital and re enters the world? Or is the bubble they have been in about to burst?

This military romance was a cute and quick read. Noah and Lexi found each other at the perfect time and really helped each other heal from the trauma. The only reason this was a 4 star instead of 5 for me is that nearly the entire plot was based on being in the hospital and it did get slightly boring. Not much to say about this book, lol not a whole lot happened. I will be continuing the series though.. eventually.

Get a better proofreader/editor

The story was okay though pretty bland with no real excitement. I rarely take the time to write reviews anymore but I can’t help but say something about this so perhaps it will spur the author to make some improvements. The use of commas in this book was atrocious. Not only were they overused but not usually in the right places. Yes, I’m well educated but I tend to roll with a few mistakes in books and add in words where they are left out or are out of sequence. This problem kept pulling me out of the flow of the story and made me marvel at how bad it was. It’s okay if the author doesn’t know how to use punctuation correctly but she really needs to find some kind of proofreader or editor - someone to fix this before publishing. Hopefully that person will know how to use “to” and “too” correctly as well. I’ve never written a review of this nature and don’t mean to sound snarky but it was SO bad. I guess I’m especially bummed because I have KU but decided to pay for this book because of high reviews and the blurb.

Kaci writes a gripping and emotional story of two broken souls that find each other and help each other heal.

Noah is a marine that was hurt in the line of duty. He was saving his leader, Johnny, when they hit an IED. Noah was burnt down his right side including his face. The two of them were in hospital in Germany when life changes for Noah. His fiance shows up but tells him that she cannot stay with him because he is a monster now with the way he looks. Well, the next thing he remembers is a beautiful woman sitting with him when he wakes up. Lexi, Johnny's sister is beside him telling him not to give up. Why is she staying with him? Can she get him not to give up and fight for his life? He starts to see the beautiful woman that she is and that she is someone he wants in his life.

Lexi and her best friend and sister-in-law, Becky, go to Germany to see Johnny as they are the only family that can fly right now. Lexi witnesses Noah's fiance telling him he is a monster and that she cannot stay with him and storms out. Well, Lexi takes it upon herself and goes after her and gives her a piece of her mind. She decides that no soldier should have to go through that and be alone and decides to stay with him. She visits and talks with him daily to help keep his spirits up. He feels that he is not worth staying with but Lexi thinks otherwise. She starts to have feelings for him but feels guilty, but why? What secret does she have that might change everything? Will she open up to Noah or keep walls around her heart?

Kaci had me teary-eyed more than a few times reading this book. Her writing is outstanding and the proof is the emotional rollercoaster that you ride while reading it. She grabs a hold of your heart and has it beating faster at times and feeling all warm and fuzzy at other times. I have read a few of her books, but this one is d definitely my favourite of hers. I got so invested in the storyline and with Lexi and Noah that I could not put it down. Yes, it was very emotional but worth every tear that fell on my cheeks.

This might be the most boring romance book I've ever read. Just a literal day-by-day telling of very slow hospital burn recovery.

There is no romance to speak of. Just constant hospital visits and then "I'm in love with you". The reader gets no foundation of romance between these two besides her sitting next to him while he SLEEPS ALL DAY. And, while that is sweet, it's not the foundation of a relationship and it's definitely not interesting to read.

𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: ⭐️💫
𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟: Rated R / 1-4 descriptive sex scenes, may have harsh language.
𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦: past death of spouse, burns, mention of past war-related violence
𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗟𝗦: 3/5 - You will definitely feel some feels.

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. This is a breathtaking story about surviving and trying to move on.

When Lexi gets the call that her brother was injured because of an IED, her and Becky (brother's wife/best friend), immediately fly to Germany to be with him. While there, she meets Noah, who was severely burned in the attack. Noah has no one because his fiancee dumped him the minute he was injured. He doesn't know why he should keep fighting until Lexi shows up. After Lexi witnesses what Noah's fiancee says, she steps in and defends Noah and decides that she will sit with him until he gets better. The two become fast friends, and their is an attraction, but can their love survive outside of the hospital? Are they meant to be more than friends? Can Lexi move on after the death of her husband?

This story was so inspirational. Lexi and Noah needed each other more than they realized. Noah understood the pain with Lexi losing her husband, and Lexi was scared to move on, but with Noah she can. The hardest part is moving on. I loved how they started out as friends and just go to know one another. Lexi was truly their for Noah, she did not care about his scars or injuries, she just cared about him.

Be prepared to cry throughout this book. You will cry both sad and happy tears. Kaci Rose is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I cannot wait for Easton's story, I will probably need a whole box of tissues!

To be totally honest I am not sure where to begin this review, or what to say that will do justice to how epic this story is. There is no doubt that The Oakside Military Heros is going to be the must-read series of 2021. Noah and Lexi's story will take you on a journey that will touch your soul, and this couple will remain with you long after you turn the last page. Kaci Rose has gone where few writers dare to go when writing a military romance, and that is to follow the journey of Noah's recovery after he is terribly hurt in an explosion while on duty in the army. In the bed right opposite him is Lexi's brother, who was hurt in the same explosion. From the moment Lexi and Noah meet, it is as if their souls are connected, and Lexi is by Noah's side as he starts the painful path to recovery. But, make no mistake the chemistry burns hot and bright between these two, and that flame only gets brighter and strong as the journey of new beginnings born of tragedy unfolds, in a romance like no other you will read this year.

Lexi has also dealt with tragedy in her past, and it is as if the gods knew that Lexi needed Noah as much as he needed her for each to finally heal.

I hope like me you are as mesmerised by Saving Noah as I was. And I am eagerly awaiting Saving Easton the next book in this series. A must-read read series for 2021.

I can't count the number of times I wiped tears from my eyes as I read this. Tears for Noah, tears for Lexi, happy tears, sad tears...so many tears. I'm also kicking myself for not checking this book out sooner! It was really hard to not fall in love with both Noah and Lexi from the start. I loved how Lexi stood up for Noah when she barely knew him, how she gave him a place to center as he healed. Better was how without even realizing it, Noah helped Lexi heal too. They had a quiet courtship that was very much based in friendship and if that was all, both would have been happy for that, neither even dared for more. So when it happened you couldn't help but to cheer them on.

I really loved how this one ended, loved the path that they created for themselves and how they are helping so many others. It will be a labor of love for them, one they will enjoy every day.

I've read sports romance and cowboy romance books by Kaci and loved it. But I didn't know she could write military romance too. Oh my did I loved this one! I loved both Noah and Lexi's characters and their story line. They have instant connection and it's amazing to see it grow into an attraction between them.

This is SO good! I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I love me a scarred military hero and I desperately wanted to love this book so much, but it just missed the mark entirely for me. Thankfully it was a relatively quick (& free) read, but I do regret not DNFing it early on like I wanted to since it definitely wasn't something I enjoyed and I have a TBR list that I will likely never see the end of in my lifetime so don't need to waste my time on a dud like this.

It's a tale as old as time. Noah, a Marine (not soldier!) heroically injured in the line of duty meets his perfect soulmate, Lexi, while recovering from his wounds. Not a unique premise to be sure, but sometimes there's a comfort in reading a great execution of a predictable story. Unfortunately that wasn't the case with this book, which was heavy on the insta-love and light on actually showing the development of a romantic partnership and building of a meaningful relationship. Even the tiff at 92% was steam-rolled by the big, bad villain not allowing the characters to experience growth together.

The writing was painfully dull managed to make this relatively simple story drag on until I was just praying for it to end. The writing (first-person, present) was stilted and the conversation was awkward and unnatural. The internal thoughts were exasperating and didn't seem to shape the story in any meaningful way. Internal angst was brought up and just as quickly swept under the rug, everything was just too easy and worked out too perfectly without any work from either MC. I fell like the author did anyone who has ever been wounded in the line of duty a huge disservice with her portrayal of the aftermath. If you are going to take a bite of a story like this be prepared to chew and swallow it in all it's heart-wrenching glory. I was bored, even with the villain, who was such a caricature of a terrible vain human that it brought the hero's judgement of human character into question. Ugh. Eww.

A lot of missed opportunities here as far as making a robust romance rather than an insta-love mess that both characters ruminate about with their internal dialogue ad nauseum. Everyone and everything just worked out so perfectly, too perfectly to make for a compelling read, which is what I was looking for, I wanted to feel/see the relationship build not just be told that it had.

I'll be passing on other books of the series and likely steering clear of the author in the future since her writing just isn't compatible with what I enjoy reading.

I have been waiting for this story and series for a very long time. I first met Noah and Lexi in the authors previous books like Accidental Sugar Daddy and a few other books by the author. So I have been really excited to read this series. It is very much a second chance at love for both characters after a loss, in addition its a military romance and also its very much a modern tale of beauty and the beast.

In this book we meet Lexi whose brother Johnnie is in the military and he gets injured and her best friend and his wife get a call that he is badly injured in Germany. They get to the hospital and discover Johnnie is injured and lost part of his leg and his roommate is his team member, Noah who saved his life but also burned parts of his face and body while trying to save his teammates.

This is the story of how Lexi realises Noah has no one to support him and to make him fight for his life and so she befriends him and serves as his cheerleader and friend as he slowly recovers. Noah has a long way to go and I adored that she was there for him day in and out.

Lexi is a widow and lost her husband many years before and so she works hard to try and save Noah's life. But she also has not really moved on from her loss and her and Noah form a friendship and they both have to decide to move on and let the past go and move on. This is a romance with a heavy military theme and explores romance after someone has lost the love of their lives and how they move on to find a second love.

It was a wonderfully told story and is a beautiful tribute to the men and women who serve in the military and the ones who they love and the families that support our military men and women.

This story made me laugh and cry. I adored what Lexi manages to accomplish. She is a very special woman and what she does for Noah and with her home was absolutely amazing and I was really honored that I got to read this story and I cannot wait to read more books in the series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

So this review will contain book spoilers. So firstly lets start with Whitney. She travels all the way from USA to Germany just to break up with Noah. I mean it had nothing to do with his overall injuries, he could have just lost a finger and she would have been gone. There was 0 character development for her, which the author could have done, even a "X months ago" start show her what her character is perhaps at a gathering of some kind. As for the execution of the break-up I would have done it slowly, she was more interested in her phone.. then she could be asking the plastic surgeon questions like " will he ever look like his old self" ect. all the while having Lexi and family overhearing all this, perhaps having Lexi just chat with him while the fiancé wasn't there building up the friendship. Obviously eventually the fiancé breaking up with him.
-Secondly Lexi brother looses a leg and is absolutely fine. Theres no PTSD i've not known anyone to loose a limb but I could only guess they would be heartbroken.
There was just zero negative, realistic emotion with the injuries the soldiers were suffering. It was also one of those books where everyone was perfect other than Whitney. and the book was full of coincidences. He was in pain, the nurse was just coming in with pain meds. Someone was feeling a certain way and the other person just KNEW what they were thinking. Really don't like books like that. I got halfway through and skipped to the ending cause i was curious and it could have been so much better, I was hoping a 100% HEA, kids running around the Lexi and Noah are married. Noah is doing well in other aspects of life , Self esteem, the way he looks/feels. ect. but nope a very dull boring ending. There was none of the HEA. I wouldn't bother reading this book. If you like books like this you should take a look at
Pepper Pace - Beast
Simone Stark - Written On His Skin
Elizabeth Kelly - Broken
KC Enders - Broken

Great Series Starter

I'm a sucker for a wounded hero/military romance....add in that Lexi, the FMC also dealt with military related loss and I was a goner.

I really enjoyed the world building done in this book, this sets up the series fantastically and I can see myself being hooked.

The book has a solid storyline and the romance/steamy scenes were enhancers not the focal point and I REALLY appreciated Kaci's attention to balance in that respect.

Can't wait to read Easton's story next!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve written a review, so I may be a bit rusty. Here goes nothing-

I’m giving this one a reluctant 2 stars. It was not the worst thing I’ve ever read, and it was definitely not the best thing I’ve ever read. Which brings me to my first point.

I honestly do not understand all of the 4 and 5 star ratings. How? How is this the best book, deserving 5 stars, that you have ever read?!

The story was a good premise, even if OTT in places.

The other woman drama near the end was completely contrived and unnecessary. I would have felt better about it if I came away from the scene with the feeling that Noah had the closure he needed, but honestly, I never got the sense that he even needed that closure. Whitney dumped him in Germany, and I never felt like Noah was too broken up about it.

I’ve read some reviews where people are complaining about the author’s insensitivity about the plantation, and that the author should have taken the time to write about its history, and slavery. I’m not sure I agree.

Put your torches and pitchforks away, people! Let me explain.

As a caucasian woman, I am deeply ashamed of that part of our history. The idea that someone is made to feel inferior to anyone else based solely on the differences in their appearance, is completely abhorrent.

However, I don’t feel that it would have been appropriate to include a complete rundown of the history of the plantation in THIS story. In my opinion, that would have taken the focus away from what she turned the plantation INTO.

Creating a safe space for our returning injured Veterans is the point of THIS story.

I will concede enough to say that she probably should have included a one or two paragraph account of its history, and how important it was for Lexi to turn something negative into something positive.

Moving on, the biggest complaint I have is the writing itself. Over-exuberant and often inappropriate usage of commas is rife throughout the book, and really jarring and discordant. Other times, the sentence structure and word choices are odd or confusing; mostly I understood what the author was trying to convey, but felt that better descriptors or word choices or sentence structure would have gotten the point across more effectively.

My final complaint is, admittedly, quite persnickety of me. I LOATHE when authors use this spelling: Cum and/or Cumming.
It’s so jarring. And stale-dated. It reminds me of really bad 70’s and 80’s porn.

Ouch. Hot mess.

It had potential and fell flat in the worst ways. It was blandly sweet, with flat characters. We are supposed to believe Noah and Lexi’s brother were injured Marines - Noah with life threatening burns and her brother losing a leg- but there’s zero emotional trauma. Sure. When Noah is first mentioned, she overhears that he may not even make it, but then suddenly he’s talking and fine. The recovery time for both he and Johnny is miraculous. She’s never met Noah, but overhears his vile fiance waltz in and dump him (while he’s supposedly on his deathbed) because he won’t look good in wedding pictures and would scare their future children with his scars. I wish I was making that up. She’s a cartoon villain caricature. We’re supposed to believe she flew overseas literally just to say that. Of course, she brings more drama later. Because what every story needs is a forced contrived drama with a caricature villain 🙄 Which only makes me question WTF he was even thinking being with someone like that. But I digress. Lexi- who is “dead inside” after losing her military spouse- decides to take up post next to his bed for the next few months or whatever. And thus begins their snooze fest.

It felt flat. I could have rolled with the insta-love non-romance though. It’s was sort of blandly predictable, but whatever. I’ll take a sweetly bland romance as a palate cleanser on occasion.

The worst offense though was the gratuitous overuse and chronic misuse of commas. They are everywhere. Randomly. To the point of distraction. The sentence structure was often weird and distracting, which also drew me out of the story immediately.

It was too much. Too. Much. You can’t have crap editing AND a weak storyline. Something’s gotta hold it up. And it just didn’t. It had potential, but fell hard.

This is the story of Noah and Lexi. Noah is a marine and is injured by a IED along with fellow members of his patrol, including his Unit Leader Moore (Lexi's brother Johnny). He suffers burns down the right side of his body including his face but the harsh words of his fiancée Whitney hurt just as much. Lexi travels to Germany to see her brother with this wife and her best friend Becky. Not long after their arrival at Johnny's bedside, Noah's fiancée Whitney arrives and her harsh word to Noah make Lexi furious. Lexi can not bite her tongue and tells Whitney exactly what she thinks of her breaking up with Noah because of his scars and when he is fighting for his life. Lexi then approaches Noah and after chatting she asked him to fight for her and choose to live. They both feel an instant connection. Lexi lost her marine husband two years prior and was not lucky enough to get him back to fight so she wants to help Noah all she can to want to live and return home to his family. Through his journey to recovery she has the memories of her late husband to deal with and the lost of their dreams. Guilt then rears it's head as she starts to fall for Noah but are either of them ready to fight the battles that lay ahead.

Although this is an emotional, and at times heart-breaking story, it is also real and believable. Be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions and to want to slap Whitney or at the very least verbally abuse her. A delicate subject well written. Can't wait to read more in this series.

Noah has survived at attack that left him scarred & Lexi lost her husband in the war. They both meet at through the military her brother Johnny services too. I love how much respect Lexi has for the army even thou she lost her husband too about a year ago.

Noah has such a big heart and he is proud for serving his country. That heart of his is link to Lexi. When they make eye contact with each thing just click in place. You do will it from chapter 1🥰

It's all in the sparks of love 💥 Noah & Lexi start to learn more about one another personally rather from a far. Which is adorable and it's just sweet love. I wish they were my friends cause they are loyal & big hearts.

I love Lexi job food and she created her own online magazine 😍 see she would make amazing friend cause she can cook and knows the best recipes.

I will admit I had a few tears in my tears especially when he said am fighting for you. She brought him back and he did the impossible. She was a stranger at first even though they knew each other through the military. The it turned into friendship then steamy undying love that will pull at your heart strings.

Johnny I feel in love with him too. He would go stateside until all his men have gone home too. True hero there. Becky is a AMAZING best friend & wife. The perfect team.

There is a character I hate and her name is Whitney. No spoilers on why I hate her but watch out!

Kaci Promised a happy ending...no spoilers on that 😉

☆MUST READ & FAV☆
A scarred hero military romance THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY. It is a small town romance too that will melt the heart too. Get ready for tears & smiles

4.5 Stars for Saving Noah (Oakside Military Heroes #1)
What a great start to the new series and if Saving Noah is anything to go by this author is sure to have a hit series on her hands. This is Noah and Lexi’s story and I was drawn in from the very start of their emotional journey. This is a roller coaster of a ride but it’s certainly a ride worth taking.
Noah is in a German hospital recovering from an horrific attack defending his country, badly burned and scared he has no one to visit or sit by his bedside and honestly that there broke my heart. Lexi is in Germany because her brother was also injured in an attack, she is there with her best friend who is married to her brother Johnny and when she finds out the man in the next bed has no one to encourage him through the pain treatments ahead of him she decides she is the one to do exactly that.
Noah knows no one will want him now with the horrific burns he suffered but he hadn’t met Lexi and now throughout his painful treatment there is encouragement and hope but will there be a future, will this couple act on the feeling they both have or will leaving the hospital mean leaving their love……
This book touched me on so many levels, it’s an emotional roller coaster, it’s heartbreaking and heartwarming, it has wonderful characters and I was captivated by their journey. Looking forward to the next instalment of the Oakside Military Heroes.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
By the time you’ve figured out who is who, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
You’ve Been Warned! Get your tissues out because you are going to need them. This is the first book starting off The Mitchell Brothers series so be prepared for the books to come as it seems it is going to be a really great series. Lexi is one of the strongest women she is widow to one fallen soldier and sister to another. When her brother gets hurt, they Lexi and her brother Jonny’s wife arrive to the hospital and while visiting she meets Noah the man who saved her brother’s life. In the process of saving her brother Noah is burned on one side of his body. Upon meeting Noah there is an instant connection and chemistry, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored so Lexi continues to visit Noah helping him recover. A friendship and bond is formed between the two of them giving each a chance at love and for Noah life from a new perspective they had a relationship built on so much more but is it enough for happiness?

What a story!! Noah finds himself in Germany in hospital after their vehicle was hit by a IED device when on patrol. He is told that he has severe burns all down one side of his body that will scar, but what is worse is when his fiancée arrives she splits up with him, as she couldn't be seen with him looking disfigured. Lexi, who is in Germany at her brothers beside hears everything that is going on and quickly jumps in. She decides to be a support for Noah as he has no one else and very quickly they form a bond. Noah becomes dependent on Lexi's company but she also depends on him, as she has went through so much loss in her life already. When Noah is fit enough to travel back to the US, Lexi offers to look after him and very quickly their connection grows, however Lexi starts to feel guilty about moving on from her late husband. When Lexi goes to visit her late husband she remembers a promise she made to him, to move on and be happy and live her dream. Lexi knows exactly what she needs to do to make it all come true. Such an emotional rollercoaster reading this book, it had me in tears in so many places and so heartwarming in other places. Such a fantastic book, so well written! A fantastic author! I really can't wait for more from this series!! I definitely recommend this book!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Truly a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!! This story was one that consumed my thoughts, seduced my heart and blew my mind. I absolutely loved the strength and resilience in Lexi & Noah. Their attraction was palpable, chemistry explosive and love was so damn swoon-worthy you felt deep in your soul. The best part of this book is how rough it is, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s raw, hopeful, heartbreaking, depressing and uplifting. It combines all of these emotions and more into one HELL of a story. I loved that we were able to visit with Becky & Johnny (Lexi’s brother), from Kaci’s “Yours Truly, Your Soldier”. I’ve been soooooo excited for this new military series that Kaci is writing and she DOES NOT DISAPPOINT in book #1!! I’m a USAF brat, ex-wife and mom, so the military is in my blood. Military romances are one of absolute favorite tropes to read. Just read this book and you’ll see what I mean! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I received this as an arc for my honest review

If ever a book deserved more than 5 stars this is it. I was captivated from the first page and it held my attention throughout. Again Kaci Rose demonstrate her unique ability to write a story that is both heartwarming, steamy and full of emotions. I think this is her best story to date.

Lexi and Noah had an instant connection and their chemistry was perfect. I loved how the relationship was built over time and as a reader I couldn’t help falling right along with them.

The storyline was so full of emotions and I had tears in my eyes several times both happy tears and sad. I can’t wait to read Easton’s story.

The story was okay, a 3 stars maybe but the part that really bothered me and ruined the book was the plantation. I’m not sure if the author realises what a plantation is but completely ignoring the vile history of plantations and the inhumane treatment of enslaved people in these places and then trying to make it out as some glamorous concept was super insensitive. Authors need to be more aware of the racial history behind certain topics/places and do research.

It was a sweet story but I wavered between a 2 or 3 rating. Just ok book.
