Gal pals Reggie and Donna agree to an overnight cat sitting stay at a remote country estate. Their mission? Five-star care for nine indoor rescues. What they get instead is the arrival of a psychic hippie, a rejected rock musician, and a never-ending evening of surprises.
Judith Read is a Niagara, Ontario resident who has been self-publishing stand alone books since 2017. Her genres vary, memoir, "The Boomer Years, Reflections," comedy "Cat Ranch," psychological drama "Claddagh Hall, A Nest Of Writers," and her new Canadian fiction saga, "Etta's Way."
When she's not sitting in a local cafe immersed in her latest work, you'll find Judith hoofing it along village streets, knowing that her ever-hungry black cat, Cubby will be waiting to greet her as she walks in the door.
My definition of cozy this morning was swirling snow outside the window, a hot cup of coffee, and Judith Read’s Cat Ranch. Cat Ranch is a hilarious, yet heartwarming tale about tails...nine of them to be exact. And a reminder that if you live fully in today, accepting adventures as they come, there isn’t a lot of time for regrets.
Also, as Judith is a local (to me) author, there are lots of memories of growing up in Niagara and location dropping, which reminded me of some stories of my own. So I’m adding some comfy nostalgia into that cozy mix.

Two old friends cat sit and an evening of unexpected adventure unfolds. Old and young readers will enjoy this fast-paced, entertaining adventure. Friendships are born, protagonists learn from their mistakes, merriment ensues and not one cat was lost in the writing of this story. A delightful read from this short-story writers foray into novel writing. Highly recommend for readers looking for an escape, this talented author delivers.
Took me a minute to sort the different characters, but once I had it I was completely engaged. What a great read. A wonderful group of women helping, accepting, and sharing. Through their acceptance, they help with Dan's worse night, and 9 rescue cats, and so very much more. Don't miss this uplifting and surprising story.
