No, definitely no. I struggled to end it. The plot is simple. The hero is a private investigator who has to pick up the heroine's DNA because a rich man thinks she's his niece. The heroine was adopted and she knows it. They meet, have a ONS under false pretense ( she thinks he works in the hotel where she's staying), he leaves her his number but she writes it wrong so when she sends him a photo of her and another man answers she thinks he has given her a false number. Then they meet again, he tells her who she is (and who he is), she finds out she's pregnant, he proposes. The whole thing is boring, really boring, even when she finds out who her mother was and all, I really wasn't interested. It is very politically correct, even the sex is politically correct and there's no passion enough. Strange that I find very much sexier those older books (Diana Palmer, Penny Jordan, Robyn Donald f.i.) where the sex was not so descriptive but you could really feel the passion between the characters. Here it's all almost clinical, cold. The hero is a good guy, maybe he has some trust issues, but who hasn't and so she is. They both were celibate during their first separation, even if it was meant to be only a ONS. So, it's all ok. I wasn't interested in the plot and in the story of her adoption. The matter is that I find that most of these latest hps are very much worried about what's proper and what's politically correct, that there isn't almost any reason for real angst. Even this author that I loved in some of her former books, where you could have some good revenge plan, some good misunderstandings and some really hateful heroes, now seems to write only sedate books for people with blood pressure issues. Sorry, the style was good, I love her very kinesthetic way of describing the characters' emotions, but the book didn't move me at all.
This is a Romance, and the first book in The Secret Sisters series. I have to say I did not think the two main characters chemistry or fit together. The romance in this book was just ok. I did think the storyline was interesting. I have to say I wanted more from this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Presents) or author (Dani Collins) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
I really enjoyed this story as I do all of Dani Collin’s, she has a special way with words that brings out the best in her characters makes them come alive and easy to get to know, I loved getting to know model Oriel Cuvier and billionaire security specialist Vijay Sahir as they journey to a HEA through a lot of revelations.
Vijay has one objective find out if the model Oriel is the secret daughter of the famous Bollywood star, this is important to him to protect his sister but trying to get this done does not go to plan and Vijay who trusts no one is soon spending a very passionate night with this gorgeous woman.
Oriel is not looking for love or a one night stand but when she meets Vijay her emotions fly and she does something that she has never done before she hits heights of passion that she has never know before but it must be for one night she has a career that is important to her, but this one night leaves consequences and her life as she knows it is going to change.
Oriel and Vijay are good together but it takes them both some time to open up to love and to learn how to trust and that is a very important issue in any relationship and there is a lot going on in this story besides their journey to a beautiful HEA. Revelations form the past will also change lives and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I do highly recommend this one to any romance reader.
My thanks to the author for my copy to read and review
** I received this as an E-ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review, Thank you!**
This unfortunately was not the book for me. I just didn't enjoy it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the romance. I didn't care much for them together or their relationship. I just didn't care in general if they were together or not. The writing also was not my favorite. I kept putting the book down and then didn't want to pick it back up. I'm of course putting this all up to personal preference. I would say if you are at all interested give it a try, It might be the book for you.
Book 1 of 2 in Dani Collins new series "The Secret Sisters." I enjoyed reading this book and learning about Oriel Cuvier and her past. She was adopted by a wonderful family and had a great job as a model. Vijay Sahir impersonated a hotel employee to get some information on Oriel and their one-night stand got a little more complicated when Oriel not only found out Vijay wasn't who she thought he was, and Vijay had some information for Oriel about her birth mother. I really enjoyed this story and it has a twisted plot in the book.
Married For One Reason Only, Book 1 of The Secret Sisters series, was about Oriel Cuvier, supermodel, and Vijay Sahir, billionaire security specialist. Vijay was tasked with proving the identity of Oriel, to determine whether or not she was related to Lakshmi Dalal, a Bollywood legend. Thinking she might be out on assignment, Vijay knocked on her hotel room door, only to find her still in residence. Having given her a false reason for being there, she invited him in to check on something else in the room that had gone awry. While he was there, one thing led to another and they ended up spending the night together, only to go their separate ways the next morning. Vijay had left first while Oriel was still asleep (absconding with her toothbrush to do testing on), but he left her a note with his number. However, when she texted him later, it went to a stranger, forcing her to change her number...and both thought they had each been ghosted by the other. Vijay turned up two months later with plans to inform her of the results of the DNA test he had done without her consent. Thinking she might be interested in the outcome, he had not thought far enough ahead to prepare for her hysterical reaction. Oriel's reaction and visceral emotions that followed caused her to cast up her accounts, which made Vijay toss out a jocular quip about her possibly being pregnant...so he procured a pregnancy test just to be certain one way or the other... There were so many twists and turns in this book, they kept the head of the reader spinning. The levels of angst, drama, and mystery were quite high, as were distrust, pain, and anxiety. While there was chemistry and passion, they seemed a bit misplaced, but that could just be me. The characters were a tad unbelievable. Vijay, though he had been in love before and been betrayed by that love, didn't trust anyone, especially Oriel. He was somewhat immature in his dealings with others because of it. Oriel tended to be too trusting and easily hurt...understandable to a degree as she knew she had been adopted and that knowledge tended to make adoptees insecure. Still, she was more naive because of it too. She forgave Vijay a little too quickly for most of the hurts he had inflicted on her. While the book was short, just eleven chapters and an epilogue, it still managed to have a great deal of fluff thrown in to muddy the waters. The story was too repetitious as well, using the same information so often that it began to smother out the good parts of the book. However, there were still quite a few questions that never really got an answer, leaving the reader more than just a little frustrated by the end of the book. It was a good story...just not five-star worthy.
MARRIED FOR ONE REASON ONLY by Dani Collins is an August 2021 release by Harlequin Presents.
This is book one of a two-book mini-series. Book two is Manhattan’s Most Scandalous Reunion.
Oriel Cuvier finds a tall, dark handsome hotel worker at her door. She lets him in to do a bit of maintenance in her room. What she didn’t know was he was a security expert, Vijay Sahir, on a secret mission. Going out of her character, Oriel had a one passion filled night with him as the chemistry between them was scorching.
Vijay wanted to prove whether Oriel was biological child of a famous personality from his country. What would Vijay find out? Would he find out the truth? And what about the consequences of his passion filled night with her?
MARRIED FOR ONE REASON ONLY is an emotional roller coaster of a read. Author Dani Collins tenderly weaved this story together and brought it alive on the pages. I loved reading this story and now looking forward to the second book in this mini-series.
Security specialist Vijay poses as a hotel employee to get close to model Oriel. It's supposed to be simple—get a DNA sample from her hair brush, and go on his way. But things get complicated quickly, and their smoldering attraction leads to an unplanned pregnancy.
Oriel is furious about Vijay's deceit, but she understands his motivation. Yet that's just the beginning of the surprises waiting for her. Learning the truth about her birth mother has her reeling. Is the emotional upheaval too much for the budding romance between Oriel and Vijay?
This book is one twist after another. I liked how the characters showed so much respect for each other through all the difficult situations they found themselves in. There were lots of opportunities for them to lash out with jealousy and distrust, but they managed to keep it together and act like adults. This book delivers on the passion and the lush international settings I expect from Harlequin Presents. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I was just thinking how much this one reminded me of Vows of Revenge by the same author when up popped Roman and Melodie from that book and I knew I was going to enjoy it. What a rollercoaster! Our lovely Oriel is a supermodel who is immediately attracted to her hotel janitor. Little does she know he is actually an undercover billionaire tech mogul, trying to get hold of her DNA so he can prove that she is not the long-lost daughter of a Bollywood legend. Except, she is, and she has a twin (her story coming next) Their one night together leads to the inevitable, and they decide to get married. This one, most of the drama comes from the external forces disrupting the couple, especially the h. Nice couple, well-suited and great chemistry from DC.

A surprise pregnancy is just the beginning of the drama about to unravel in the first book of The Secret Sisters duet by Dani Collins. MARRIED FOR ONE REASON ONLY kicks off a little slow and confusing, but the characters and all of the secondary characters start to make sense eventually and deliver a satisfying romance. I'm looking forward to the second part of the duet.
Oriel is accomplished and successful yet doubts herself and where she fits. As the storyline unravels, she feels justified in her doubts as secrets are exposed.
Vijay is secretive and troublesome at first, but ends up being a pretty stable guy.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a lot of drama and subterfuge mixed into their romance.

Oriel Cuvier is the secret daughter of a famous Bollywood star and Vijay Sahir is a billionaire security specialist when Oriel becomes pregnant with Vijay’s child. Oriel and Vijay both have different career paths as they have a rollercoaster romantic relationship. I really enjoyed reading this romantic read. I received this free book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! This book started off with a sizzle and ended with a thrill! Oriel is vibrant, beautiful, and very vulnerable while Vijay is handsome, protective, caring, and maybe also a little stupid for a while. There is love and laughter as well as a little mystery to this story. I am certain anyone who reads it will love it!
This is the 1st book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. The characters were very well written with a good plot. The story held my attention, it was a page turner, I read it in 1 sitting. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Good ending.
I am a huge fan of Dan's stories. This one surpassed any of her earlier books. This story was so emotional and slightly suspenseful. Plus, dealing with the topic of adoption was amazing. Vijay and Oriel were a wonderful couple with a lot to learn. Can't wait to read Anna's story next!
Married for One Reason Only by Dani Collin, first in the Secret Sisters series. Vijay is after one thing and that is the DNA of Oriel to disprove or prove a theory. Problem is there is a spark between them and it then gets more complicated. A good read with a few twists along the way.
Great book! I thought It could be wrapped up quickly because they seemed genuinely without drama and then we learn a hidden secret! I can’t wait to read the next book!
I enjoyed reading this story! Love how it starts that it draws you in to see what is happening with Oriel and Vijay and kept me reading to find out how it turns out!

Because love moves in mysterious ways
A lot is going on in this story. It's full of emotion, mystery and passionate romance between a couple who have self-esteem issues and unanswered questions in their past. It is glamorous, but beneath the glitz are two people who long for a partner who values them.
Their first meeting leads to unexpected passion, which draws them together. There's a mystery to solve and many conflicts before they can achieve the happiness they deserve. The two main protagonists are likeable, and the plot has interesting twists to keep the reader engaged.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
