The lessons of stoic philosophy updated in a contemporary language. In this work, the practical wisdom of the Stoics is exemplified with their discipline and resilience in aphorisms that structure what is necessary for an active and dignified life.
This is The Way: Stoic Lessons on Strength and Honor is a great introduction to Stoic philosophy. It's full of mantras and lessons to live your life by. It's basically a handbook for the core principals of Stoicism laid out in an easy to understand manner. There are 294 short techniques to ease you into a Stoical way of life. It has really piqued my interest in Stoicism and philosophy in general, to the point where I am already attempting to adopt some of the beliefs for use in my life. I have purchased some more books on Stoicism and intend to read them shortly.
My one gripe is that I would have liked for each of the 294 lessons to be categorised under their respective tenet of Stoicism. This would have made it much easier to later reference a specific lesson. There is also repetition in some of the lessons but I suppose that's necessary in helping the reader understand and heed the lessons of the book.
