Broken: The Problem of Sin

Rate this book
Help your little one discover God's love and redemption.

"Because of Jesus, we aren't broken anymore."

With the help of their mother, the Bible, and a broken picture frame, two lovable sisters discover the reality of being broken by sin and the joy of God making them new through the life and death of Jesus.

Broken is the first storybook in a series designed to help parents begin to have discipleship conversations with their young children.

Kind Words For BrokenThis is a great book to teach young children about sin. It's not scary, and it's not loaded with guilt. It's just a perfect testimony. It also has beautiful pictures and has two very lovable main characters. As an adult who loves children's books, I really enjoyed it!Johanna

I love that the book's plotline is simple and easy for children to follow and yet there are so many layers of Spiritual depths you can dig into. There are Scriptures that are highlighted in the book that you can help your child memorize. It also leads into a natural conversation about salvation and accepting Jesus' sacrifice for us to pay for our sins. It explains our own brokenness and how we cannot fix ourselves but only God can make us new. The illustrations are beautiful. My 3yo loved the book, understood the sins highlighted as well as ways to reconcile that sin through Jesus.Beth

What a wonderful book for children to read and share with their parents! This book is written in a way that children can understand what sin is and how important it is to turn to Jesus. The illustrations beautifully show the story to help younger kids to understand. I highly recommend this book! Amy

Fixing The Lie

My first time reading this author. I love the subtly of the story. It has a simple touch that families can read together and not take offense. Like the art as well. Bravo.

The author does some things very well. I like the questions in the book, which facilitate easy engagement with little ones. I also appreciated the clarity of the included Scripture, and the way it brought it down to a child's level. It's a good short story to provoke thought and get a conversation started.

Having said that, I didn't connect with the characters or find them particularly compelling. The jump to confessing felt a little sudden. I would have liked to see a little more on the relational aspect of God and His children. I appreciated the recommendation of another Amazon reviewer for Arlo and the Great Big Cover Up. That was what I hoped this would be. Still, this is a decent first book with room for improvement if the series continues.

I won a digital copy of the book from Goodreads Giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity to check it out!

A simplistic look at sin, perfect for children

I really enjoyed this short story for children. It explains sin in a way that is easy for small children to understand and come to terms with. The use of the broken frame to help illustrate this fact was perfect. I highly recommend to new Christians looking for books on how to teach their children more about Jesus.

Amazing Grace!

This is a great book to read to children to teach them about sin, repentance, and forgiveness. It’s written in language that kids can understand and is highly interactive (it includes discussion questions throughout the book that teachers or parents can ask kids while reading the story to them). Bible verses are also included. The illustrations are cute, and the characters are relatable. I would recommend this book for younger kids.

Broken: The Problem of Sin is a book about two sisters who broke the frame of their mother's favorite photo. Through this short and sweet children's book, the great lesson of avoiding sin partnered with great illusions is a wonderful way to help cement this ideal way of living to young children.
