One vampire. Five witches. One young woman alone in the world who doesn't know about her own power. Five men who've promised to protect her. Hot and dangerous from the get-go.
Of all the weird things that happened to me, dying had to be the worst. Later, it turned out I wasn't dead after all, and that came as a real shock.
The bare-chested witches and the undead Romanian vampire are all that stand between me and the demons who want to kill me. Oh, yes, and salt and magic, if you can believe that. And that was just the start of the craziness. And did I mention the men's bare chests? These guys seem to have a problem with clothes. Not that I'm complaining.
Sorry, I ramble and digress when the threat of impending death gets too much.
Anyway, three of the guys seem to have the hots for each other and it's bound to end in tears, but that's another story. I'll find out more and let you know IF I survive the night.
EARTH is book one in a sizzling four-book paranormal romance series set in London. It features: Witches, magic, and vampires. A kick-ass woman at the heart of the story. Bisexual characters in a reverse harem romance. More explicit MMF scenes than you can wave a witch's wand at. Knife crime and fruit smoothies. Hackney in East London. A cliffhanger.
Approximately 53,000 words.
THIS IS A REVISED AND FRESHLY EDITED SECOND EDITION published in October 2020 to replace the 2019 edition.
HJP is a British author who loves cake and chocolate and menage romance. She lives in central England somewhere near the Peak District with her family. She loves walking in remote places and visiting very old and ancient sites. This is probably because she likes to let her imagine run wild. She'd like to believe in myths, legends, and magic. She also writes gay fiction under the name of H J Perry.
I really and truly liked the story. My issues lie in the production. Typos, grammatical errors, poor sentence structure... The lack of a good proofread and edit is noticeable. When you come across these it just iimmediately drops you out of the story. I appreciate a creative bender! And I understand that somes times you're just writing and it's flowing like water. But when I have to stop and go back to reread a sentence or paragraph 4+ times to piece together what the train orfthought was or what that word should have been, I'm less inclined to keep going.
Malka Selby does not know she is an elemental witch. She was raised "normal". She has returned to England and now the supernatural are after her because they can sense she is a witch. She meets two air witches at the beginning of the book who protect her from hellhounds but she does not know they are air witches. She has Hadyn a fire witch, Beck, a water witch, and a vampire named Varu Vasile trying to protect her. Malka discovers she is an elemental earth witch after believing she had died. The story was slow to catch my interest. Certain parts of the book I had to reread because I just could not stay focused. The action does pick up when everyone is out to get Malka. The story is getting interesting enough that I will continue with the second book. I received a free copy from Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Earth is the first in the Elemental Reverse Harem Quartet, which promises to be a titillating new series by Helen J. Perry.
Malka Selby doesn't know she's a witch. The joke is more or less on her because all the men she encounters seems to know who and what she is. And the kinky menagé contest she's having with her best friend to see who can have the most, the best, is getting lots of fodder as these men seem to make all her dreams come true.
Earth is a fast burn RH with lots of MMF action. I think you can pretty much bet on there being some hot MM alone because Malka loves the idea to death. Oh, wait, that might just be because one of the guys she's into is a vamp—an old vampire who loves to play with elemental witches. He doesn't care much for grudges between races. He can love anyone.
Earth introduces Malka, who is Earth magic. Haydn her guardian and fire witch. Beck a Hot with a capital H waterboy. And Varu. And a couple of Air elementals you meet in a one night stand but aren't introduced to. Air always so flighty.
I enjoyed this, and I hope to get to read Water too!

This book is like is written like is meant for young adults except is full of steamy scenes so is not recommend for underage people. This steamy scenes are mild for me and are just like a foreplay without a tension beacuse the real thing is not on the way. Malka is a likeable FMC. She is full of irony and constantly have steamy situations on her mind. Sometimes she is confused wich make the story funny. The author style is full of pun and I like it. The boys are hot but respectful wich is great beacuse I have enough of these alfa males in every book. The descriptions od a cemetery park and Varu's hause were interesting. The characters claim to be witches but anyone who read lot or fantasy or play video games know they are elementals. Anyway this is not a first book that I read in wich the characters claim to be witches and don't have familiars, don't do rituals, don't tell spells in rhyme, don't use brooms, in one world don't do witchcraft and claim to be witches. Regardless my complaints I am sure this book will find readers that will really like it.

If you see the over all plot, the concepts of the book are not really new.
The old Vampires Elemental witches Feud between the 2 factions A very powerful heiress to a coven who doesn't know her power Powerful warlock bound to serve & protect her Both witches & vampires trying to get her on their side and under their control
Then what makes this book and the series different? What sets it apart and what holds on to a reader to stay connected through this series.
The New A new set of powers for elementals Use of sex magic (though it has been written about, it has not been used in the same way as by Helen Perry) New powers for vampires New ways of protection Interpersonal relationship between Malka and her men An easy to follow writing style Some sub plots (which I won't specify because they would be spoilers)
What I did not like Too much sexual content too often (at times it detracts from the story line) Changing of narratives every couple of chapters is quite confusing
The story was a pretty typical elemental story: Girl doesn't know she is an elemental. Other elementals/supernaturals just happen to find her after YEARS of non-discovery. From there is where the story develops in a unique way. The characters are all well developed with individual personalities. Their personalities are consistent, which is required in a story with numerous love interests. My only critique has to do with grammar and word choices. There are many run on sentences throughout the book. There are also numerous instances where an incorrect word was used. The first example that comes to mind is the word INFINITY being used instead of AFFINITY. Finally, there are a few misused words that could have been due to typos. The one right at the end of the book is BLURB instead of BLUR. Most of these errors can be easily corrected by having reliable beta readers or hiring a good copy editor. Correcting these issues would definitely change my rating.
It's a fly by the seat of your pants beginning, with a "did I miss a few chapters or something?!?" feeling for quite a few pages.
This story really does start in the thick of it and the action just keeps going from there. It's a little discombobulating not knowing what is going on as reader but the characters for once seem to know more? I had no idea what was going on but the girl, Malka, was drawing men to her like flies to honey and she seemed to be okay with that. There steamy scenes some MM action cause there's an ancient vamp who isn't too picky and Malka doesn't mind either. All-in-all, it's a fast-burn story about a girl who doesn't know she has powers and is at risk from baddies who will use &/or eat her to get her powers. Enter 5 Elemental witches promised to protect her (oh yeah and 1 ancient vamp). Their all hot and no one can keep their pants on. Hehe.

Honestly, this just wasn't very good. The writing is amateurish (all dialogue, with very little description, and almost no world-building). The characters are flat, and most of them pop up and then disappear, some literally never to be seen again, despite being important to the series-wide arc. The FMC is petulant, unlikable, and poorly developed. The POV choices are baffling. The sex (which there isn't very much of) reads as if it were written by someone who has never had and is not comfortable talking about sex. Honestly, I know Perry has published several books, but I would not be surprised to discover Perry was relatively young when she wrote this one. It has that feel. Either way, I'll not be continuing the series.
This is a hot, sexy, steamy RH story about a witch who doesn't know she's a witch and the *men* (5 witches and a vampire) that she attracts. I was a little confused in the beginning because the story kind of starts out of nowhere. Things just start happening, and it heats up quickly. I had a little trouble connecting with Malka. She seemed kind of *airy,* especially at the start. The story was fast-paced and exciting, with plenty of MMF and MM action. Overall, I enjoyed it and am ready to delve into the second book.

Earth: Elemental Reverse Harem Quartet by Helen J Perry is such a wonderful story that I have loved reading. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series written by a brand new author for me to read. I can not wait to read the rest of this wonderful series that I am so hooked on. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires, reverse harem and paranormal romance.

It wasn't the worse I've read and wasn't the greatest I read. Initially, the storyline itself was decent, if a bit broken and hectic. Character build and personality was mostly good. I didn't feel any connection with our lead lady, to be a sup (that apparently she didn't know about) a bit spineless. The secondary charies as I said was pretty cool.
I found myself rereading a few passages, to fix the flow of things. It is was it is. It's a story, it's paranormal so it's readable. *smiles*
The blurb intrigued me so much I just had to check it out and I was not disappointed. I love that this book is different. I I love the elemental and this has it all. Also this is different in the way that the FMC thinks she died than learns she isn't dead and is protected by several hot guys. Lots happening and I'm intrigued so much. It's different from other elemental RH and I love that especially since I've read so many RH it's hard to be different but this is and I can't wait for more.
Had a hard time at the beginning. I like fast burn, but the beginning of this book was speed of light burn and that made me want to stop reading. But I persevered and when the story and plot really started I enjoyed more. It was enjoyable and funny but full of cliches. If you like a lot of fun times, this is your book.

A fast-paced reverse harem story, that makes for an intriguing read due to the different approach the author takes on the elementals. The beginning may appear a little confusing, but it was worth it to keep on reading. The story is scorching hot, with plenty of steam, so reader's discretion is adviced, as it's suitable for mature readers.
Varu and Beck were wonderful and there were some very steamy scenes. However I really couldn’t come to like Malka. She was kind of air headed and nieve and went along with things way to easily. I would have liked to have seen more of the other elemental witches.
I had a hard time getting into this, it was ok, but the characters came across a little flat to me. I will give the second book a try and see if I am more drawn in with that,

I wasn't a huge fan of the typos, and POV but all in all I really enjoyed this story line and look forward to continuing reading the series. This was my first read by this author and It has room for improvement but over all its interesting, funny and does keep you on your toes.
Everyone knows Malta is a witch but her. Weird and strange things happen around her. This book is really good. The characters are unique and the story really draws you in. It is a fast paced fantasy with action and drama. I read it in an afternoon.
This is an enjoyable paranormal RH romance. Characters are developed well and are likable. The story is intriguing with steamy scenes. I look forward to reading future books in this series.
I wanted to like this book more. The writing is fine style wise, but there just isn’t much plot. The sex (oral or otherwise) is so abruptly thrown in with little lead up to. I don’t understand her sympathy for the vampires unless she is an idiot or criminally naive.
