I grew up on a farm. No kidding. I did...complete with cattle, chickens, a passel of kids, and rows of vegetables. So, when I wasn't dodging siblings, feeding animals, or pulling weeds, I was hiding away in my bedroom with a book.

With maturity came love and marriage, and a real understanding of why my parents kept their bedroom door locked. *wink*
Now, I've turned a love of books into a sensual journey through the steamy world of erotic romance. Or is that romantic erotica? Well, one thing's for certain, the heroes and heroines have a great time as they fall in love.

As I live my dream by bringing the characters in my mind to life on the printed page, I want to thank my wonderful husband for his inspiration, support and patience, but most of all for letting me hog the computer!

An earthbound spirit haunts a pre-Civil War Louisiana plantation by fondling its victims? In 20 years of ghost hunting, 42 year old medium and lecturer, Dr. Travis Moreland had never, ever encountered that phenomenon. No matter. Travis would discover what was keeping the spirit attached to this world by All Hallows Eve-- the perfect time to send it packing to the “Other” side.

The ghost of Creole slave Dominique Savoie had haunted Beau Vista plantation for more then 100 years, waiting for the return of the spirit of her former lover, Thomas St. Maurice. As soon as Travis Moreland set foot on her plantation, Dominique sensed her lover’s presence. Her attempts to make Travis “remember” who he is and how much they once loved one another are unsuccessful--no matter what sexual tricks she plies. Worse, once research reveals what occurred the day Thomas St. Maurice died, Travis is more determined then ever to send Dominique into the light.

Authors Layle and Keaton’s novella had wonderful possibilities: a fabulous bayou setting, an intriguing storyline, and a likeable hero and heroine. Unfortunately, what the authors needed was a discerning editor to “flesh out” the plot deficiencies--most of which could have been fixed with a few judiciously placed sentences. For example, it’s never crystal clear how the Grangers, the new owners of Beau Vista know about, meet, and get Dr. Moreland to Louisiana. Had his most recent lecture tour brought him to their attention or the area? Where they introduced? Travis remarks that he’s never known spirits to be able to travel away from the sight of their demise. Yet he never offers nor considers why Dominique is able to do so. And, most difficult for the DHD to accept is Travis’s admission that he’s afraid of the dark. Say what?!

The DHD, who loves old movies like the original “Ghost and Mrs. Muir” starring Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison and TV’s “Topper”, truly hoped this story would get tighter and better as I read. Unfortunately, I found I had even more questions after I read the story then when I’d begun and for that reason I give RETURN TO ME 2 ½ BEACONS.
