Associate Pastor at Lakewood Church and sister to Joel Osteen, Lisa Osteen Comes, demonstrates how to keep an attitude of faith in discouraging times and to trust God in every season. At times, we all find ourselves in seasons of waiting—for our dreams to be fulfilled, our prayers to be answered, or our circumstances to change. But your dream has an appointed time and God always has victory in store for you. And the seasons of waiting don't need to be periods of discouragement or hopelessness. Instead, they can be rich periods of joy, growth and preparation for the plans and promotion that God has in store for you.
In It's On the Way , Lisa Osteen Comes reminds readers that during these inevitable times in our lives, God is faithful and our current season is temporary. Lisa teaches readers how to press through challenges, quit taking shortcuts instead of trusting God to give you His best, allow God to fight your battles, and silence the enemy within, while giving encouragement and practical steps to take when you don’t know what to do next.
In this encouraging book, Comes writes from personal experience. She struggled with infertility, battling anxiety and despair. She came to a breaking point but was encouraged to persevere and know that she would get through it.
She writes about being in the waiting time and standing in faith knowing that God has an appointed time to move. She encourages us to not give up on the dream God has given us. She writes about prayer, the reality of spiritual warfare, recognizing the enemy's lies, maintaining a positive focus, relying on the Word, dealing with fear, and more.
I like Comes' lessons from biblical examples. I really appreciate the practical application section at the end of each chapter. She provides encouraging thoughts and Scriptures and practical steps to take.
This is a very encouraging book filled with insights from experiences and the Word. Comes' life is a good example of knowing that God has a plan and believing He is working even when we cannot see it. She wrote this book because she wants to see others experience all God has for them. It is an inspiring and encouraging book filled with practical teaching.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Lisa Osteen Comes already inspired me in the introduction and her candid conversational tone carried me all the way through. I enjoyed her views and her insight and faith shine off each page.
One passage spoke loud to me, concerning not giving up on something I’m dreaming about or praying for. “Heaven hears me the moment I pray. Heaven has heard your prayers too. Whatever breakthrough, answer, promise, or blessing you’ve been asking God for—it is on its way. God always hears your prayer.”
It’s On the Way, in my opinion, isn’t a sit down and read your way through the entire book kind of book. It’s more of a sit and read a chapter, then set it aside for a while. Contemplate. Let it sink into your thoughts and psyche. Then when it’s made its full impact, reach for another chapter. Another application.
I mostly love the focuses on scripture, purposeful waiting, and overcoming discouragement. The book is encouraging and practical.
Thank you to the publisher for sending me the arc of the book. This was a really good read. Each chapter had applications and scriptures at the end of it. This can be read all at once, or a chapter every week. The scriptures allow you to dig deeper into the Word.
In It’s on the Way, Lisa Osteen Comes has written a book about how to handle the difficult seasons of waiting for a dream or prayer to come to pass. She explained how our dreams have an appointed time to come to pass and we don’t need to get discouraged or feel helpless. Some of these dreams can include: writing a book, starting a business, getting married, having a child, and pretty much any other dream you have been praying about. She described how in scripture how no one has witnessed or can even imagine what God has prepared for people that love God see 1 Cor. 2:9. She encouraged readers to keep praying. She reminded readers that God is listening to our prayers from the moment that we first prayed.
She begins the book by sharing how she was born with a severe birth defect. Her parents were told she would never walk or talk. Her parents believed that God could heal her and by age one she was healed and completely normal. She also opened up about how satan tried to kill her again years later in 1990, when she was working at her father’s church John Osteen. She was opening the mail when a pipe bomb went off with 10-inch shrapnel nails inside the box. She miraculously wasn’t killed and she only suffered from minor injuries.
In the book, she shared how she had a dream of having children and they struggled with infertility. She revealed how her and her husband would declare over their lives, scripture verses and the promises of God about children. She revealed how they made sure when they were getting a house that they would have enough room for children. They also purchased a piano because they believed one of their kids would play it. She also shared how they received in the mail two diapers and they both stood on the promise that they would be having twins. It took them eight years for the dream to be fulfilled and they were unexpectedly able to adopt twin girls and a son from Mercy Multiplied without having to apply through the adoption process. One of her daughter’s also plays the piano and this was like God was preparing their home ahead of time.
I would recommend this amazing book to anyone who is looking for encouragement on not giving up on our dreams. This book is a wonderful reminder that God is always with us even in our waiting period and our current season is temporary. I immensely loved reading about Lisa’s story and how her parents were faithful and believed that God could heal their child. I liked how she shared how her own mother; Dodie was also healed from cancer. She also touched on her divorce, her remarriage, infertility issues, and much more. One of my favorite lessons, she discussed was about the six ways satan steals from the Word of God. One of the most powerful ways that he uses is we listen too much to the voices of others. She also revealed how people told her when they were struggling having children that maybe it wasn’t in God’s will for them. She chose to not listen to them but rather stand on the promises of God. I liked how in the book, she looked at the story with the woman and issue of the blood and how she didn’t listen to the voices of others. I appreciated how she reminded readers not to let anyone talk you out of the promises of God.

IT'S ON THE WAY: DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS AND PRAYERS by Lisa Osteen Comes, the Associate Pastor of Lakewood Church, is an inspiring spiritual guidebook for those waiting for circumstances to change. Will our prayers be answered? When will our dreams come true? The struggle is real, but so is God's love for us. Through scripture, personal stories, and practical applications, Lisa teaches readers how to navigate the difficult times while waiting for the promises that God put in our hearts. Oftentimes, we don't know what to do. By resisting fear and trusting God to fight our battles, we won't be robbed of our joy and purpose in life. Our prayers are heard on the first day we prayed. By staying in faith and praising Jesus for his good works, we will receive the answers to our prayers. I believe the thesis for It’s On The Way is that God hears your prayers and victory is on the way.
It’s On The Way would make a great study book for a women’s Bible group. At the end of each chapter is a list of practical applications with scripture verses and practical steps any woman can take.

Wow. Praise for the book “It’s On the Way:Don’t Give Up On Your Dreams And Prayers” by Lisa Osteen Comes.
It’s a wonderful book of encouragement and motivation for those seeking emotional healing and restoration. The author gives elaborated examples of how to trust God in all circumstances and have a positive outlook in the face of adversity We all experience waiting periods occasionally, whether it’s for our hopes to come true, our prayers to be heard, or for our circumstances to change. However, God always has victory in store for us, and our dreams has an assigned moment. And the waiting times don’t have to be times of despair or discouragement. Instead, they could be a time of great delight, development and preparation for the plans and advancements that God has for us.
4.5⭐️ This is a book I can tell I’m going to go back to a lot when I’m in different waiting seasons in life. Lisa did a great job using biblical references to tie together personal experiences. Highly recommend!
This book arrived in my hands at the perfect time. Filled with nuggets of encouraging words coupled with scripture that spoke just to my specific circumstances. A good reminder that for everything there is a season and our time here on earth is accounted for and destined to be fulfilled according to His purpose and plan. Romans 8:28. Overall, an easy 12 chapters to read through. Chapter 6, titled Keep Calm and Shake it off, and Chapter 7: Don't panic - This is just a test both resonated with me. I liked the quotes at the beginning of each of these chapters—Psalm 55:22 and Psalm 112:7-8. Each chapter ends with a box of nugget points of practical application and suggested steps to take.
