From the New York Times bestselling author of This Is How It Always Is, a Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine Book Pick, comes a timely, topical novel about love and family that will make you laugh and cry...and laugh again.

How do you let go of the past when the past won't let go of you?

Everyone knows everyone in the tiny town of Bourne. But the Mitchell sisters are especially beloved, and not just because they’re teenage triplets. Mirabel is the smartest person anyone has ever met, and no one is fooled by her wheelchair or her Voice app into thinking otherwise. Monday is the town’s purveyor of books now that the library’s closed—tell her the book you think you want, and she’ll pull the one you actually do from the microwave or her underwear drawer. Mab’s job is hardest of all: get good grades, get into college, get out of Bourne.

For a few weeks seventeen years ago, Bourne was national news when its water turned green and was declared unfit for use, but it was too late for its residents. And just when it seems life might go on the same forever, the first moving truck anyone’s seen in years pulls up. Then a new student enrolls at Bourne Memorial High. He’s smart and handsome and exciting—and the Mitchell family’s sworn enemy. And soon, in a town where nothing ever changes, suddenly everything does.

Triplets, Mab, Monday, and Mirabel. Mab is the first out and seems to not have any issues. Monday is on the spectrum and Mirabel is in a wheelchair and is non verbal. The town’s water has been poisoned by a chemical plant and most of the town’s citizens have health issues. The girls’ mother has been working to bring reparations to those harmed, but there is never enough evidence. The son brings his family back to town and his son is the same age as the girls….
Frankel does a great job with each of the girls’ characters. They go by One, Two, Three and Mab narrates chapters titled One , Mondaygives voice to Two chapters and we hear Mirabel for the “Three” chapters. Good read.

Great read! It was a little confusing with the different characters, but I switched to audiobook and it was much easier to follow who was talking even. I really loved the bond between the 3 sisters! I loved their fight, their drive to not give up on their town and themselves! I loved the towns backstory even though it was awful! But Laurie Frankel’s interpretation of these events which in turn have happened was well written! A fun great read!

Maybe slightly under 4, but good. Dragged a bit trying to get thru the story with 3 different perspectives, but enjoyed hearing some of the events from each of the sisters very different views. Bourne is filled with people who have been wronged and trying to make sense of it and will they won’t they get their justice and what does that look like? You can’t help but love the girls and Nora and their commitment to the town.

Excellent book. Very well done with the different "voices" of the family. I highly recommend.

I liked it but it was pretty predictable. Some Scooby-Do meddling kids solved the mystery after the bad guys almost got away with it. Just felt like it had been done and redone plenty.
