பெருமாள்முருகன் 2020இல் எழுதிய இருபது சிறுகதைகளின் தொகுப்பு இது. இதில் உள்ள கதைகள் முழுக்கவும் பதின்பருவத்தினர் பற்றியவை. வெவ்வேறு களங்கள்; தொழிற் சூழல்கள். எனினும் அவர்கள் கொள்ளும் மன உணர்வுகள் ஒருமை கொண்டுள்ளன. சமகால விளிம்பு நிலை வாழ்வை வெகுஇயல்போடு காட்சிப்படுத்தியிருக்கும் இவை நல்ல வாசிப்பு அனுபவத்தை வழங்குபவை.
இத்தொகுப்பில் மூன்று கதைகள் தவிர்த்துப் பிற கதைகள் அனைத்தும் இதுவரை பிரசுரம் பெறாதவை.
ஆவேசத்தைக் காப்பாற்றிக் கொண்டு எறும்பு வரிசை போல இருபது கதைகள் எழுதிவிட்டேன். ஒன்றின் காலை ஒன்று பற்றிக்கொண்டும் ஒன்றுக்குள் ஒன்று புகுந்து கொண்டும் இவை செல்கின்றன. இரண்டு மூன்று சேர்ந்து பெருமூட்டை சுமக்கின்றன. வளைந்தும் நெளிந்தும் கலைந்தும் கூடியும் எதையோ தேடி வரிசை போய்க் கொண்டேயிருக்கிறது. ஆம். இவற்றை எறும்பு வரிசைக் கதைகள் என அடையாளப்படுத்தலாம்.
This is a collection of 20 short stories that Perumal Murugan wrote in 2020. All of these stories are about teenagers. They are set in different periods and occupational contexts. Yet, their emotions and sentimentshave a certain coherence. These stories, which skillfully capture the lives of those on the margins, offer an unparalleled reading experience.
Apart from three stories, this collection contains previously unpublished work.

Perumal Murugan is a well-known contemporary Tamil writer and poet. He was written six novels, four collections of short stories and four anthologies of poetry. Three of his novels have been translated into English to wide acclaim: Seasons of the Palm, which was shortlisted for the prestigious Kiriyama Award in 2005, Current Show, and most recently, One Part Woman. He has received awards from the Tamil Nadu government as well as from Katha Books.

ஏன் இந்த ஒளிப் புத்தகத்தை கேட்டோம் என்றாகிவிட்டது. நான்கைந்து சிறுகதைகளை தவிர வேறு எதுவும் நன்றாக இல்லை.

In 2020, when the world locked itself within the safety of four walls and was reeling under depression and fear, Perumal Murugan pulled himself together to give birth to Maayam. Sheltering 20 short stories within it, the book is all about adults, especially those in their early 20s. Setting up the stories in the present-day villages with occasional travel to towns, the book is dripping with a range of raw emotions — love, enmity, tragedy, grief, fear, and anger. One can connect well with the statement because the stories all look the same like the ants unless one takes a closer look at.

வயசு பசங்க வாழ்க்கையில நடக்கும் நிகழ்வுகளின் கத இது. ஏதோ ஒரு இடத்துல நடந்ததாக நாம கேள்விப்பட்ட சம்பவம் தான் இந்த கதைங்க.
