I NEVER HEARD MY FATHER SING
Two small Central Texas towns form the primary backdrop for Gus Jacob's recollection of things that once were, but are no more. Times and seasons memories of boyhood in the mid-twentieth century - reflections of adolescence - challenges of adulthood - personal musings in his 'December years.' He opens his heart to reveal not only the ordinary and poignant, but also humorous and tragic events that shaped his life. The endeavor all began as a private chronicle for his children and grandchildren, echoing an unknown "If you don't know where you're from, you can't know who you are."

These are precious memories of a time and lifestyle that can only be imagined today. I might be biased, Gus being my grandfather and all, but it's a book worth having for anyone whose family experienced the mid century in the United States, and especially Texas.
Thank you for sharing your story with us, G'pa. I am so happy that your memories are now mine and my children's, to the degree that they can be!
