Geoff and Sawyer, along with their elven friends, Ariel and Ishara, must find a way to save Jane while trying to hold back a dark tide of evil that threatens all. Dangerous enemies from their past resurface to challenge them as they try to save Alluria while new allies rise to fight by their side. If not, an age of darkness will dawn. The fate of Alluria hangs in the balance as they come face to face with the Scarlet Queen herself in an epic showdown.
Reinhardt pens a grand story in The Scarlet Queen: A Gripping Epic Fantasy. I have read the stories in the series before, and this third book in the The Darkwolf Saga feels long overdue, but definitely worth the wait. Filled with good versus evil, fantasy and even a little magic, the characters have a dark cloud over them. It's not just a matter of survival, spells of evil, and even a connection between all the characters, human and elven. It's a fun and entertaining yet dramatic story, and I liked reading it. It was definitely an enjoyable journey. It's a great story to follow and try to figure out what will happen next. This author's characters develop and interacts well with the other characters. A real page turner. The best book in the series. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author. This book is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews.
For me, Reinhardt - always the storyteller - has excelled himself here. The complexity of the plotting and characterization (not to mention the pacing) is even better than the earlier books in this series. The relationships, especially the delicately balanced one of Sawyer and Jane, deepen as the characters grow older and endure more. There's no shortage of adventure - the whole book is an adventure! - but it seems to me that there's a strengthened power in both prose and storyline. Really fine writing.
“TheScarlet Queen:A Gripping EpicFantasy( The Dark Wolf Saga book three) by Mitch Reinherdt, was an unexpected rush of emotion! I Loved the cover of the book artwork and it drew me to this book. Once I purchased “TheScarlet Queen:A Gripping EpicFantasy” I realized it was the third In the saga and like I stated I was drawn by the beauty didn’t realize I was diving in with out reading book one and two but I am greatful that I started in the “middle “ per-say but still developed quick ties to each character. The Author of this book excuse me of this saga has much to be proud of! This the third book began with Jane , who you find out is a human brought from our reality to this reality which is based in a time of knights, elves, queens, spy’s, wizards, sorcery, vampires, werewolves, and necromancy , with two friends Geoff and Sawyer. Since I have not read the first two books some explanations allude me such as in the book you find out some of Geoffs “ family” from this world was also in the world of Auleria but again the author explains things with great detail but has an artistry about his writing that never overwhelms or bores a reader! I am honestly impressed and the fluidity of his writing and plots therein, I love to read but this series has me aching to find out how he will finish this series because as a “book worm” I grow attachment to characters in a way that I only want the Best for them as I would a friend, and the author Has my heart bleeding for these characters in a way I have once invested much time into these characters We’re so clear and pointedly written a a reader would have a hard time not caring for each of them. I don’t want to give anything away I will say Jane, Geoff, and Sawyer are prophetic hero’s that the elf, human, and other species have been waiting for (either to fight with or to fight for) and are spoken and described as children many times in this book. I think this series has molded a world and beings that will be hard for anyone to forget or want to stop reading about! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and the whole series to anyone whom likes epic battles of good and evil, or is interested in fantasy novels genre. The only thing I warn is obviously it’s NOT A Children’s BOOK and once you start reading don’t expect to stop anytime soon. The was sick when I started this book and fell asleep with it in my hands and dreamed of the amazing scenery the author created! Please don’t miss this book or series take it from me it’s a amazing and a complete and Total rush! I pray God Blesses each of you an Keeps you!

Readers’ Comments “If you enjoy fantasy books, you'll love this Packed full of mythical characters and magic. I think this is perfect for younger teenagers as it's not very complex in terms of the plot. I loved it and I thought the author did an excellent job.” Boy reader, aged 14 “In this story, you get to know all the characters really well. I have only read book 3, which is this book, but the author's good at helping the reader to catch up on what has been happening. But I would recommend starting on book 1 first.” Girl reader, aged 16 “There is a strong Lord of the Rings feel to it with a man and elf army fighting together. In many ways, it's sort of your typical good vs evil in a fantasy world novel. I do think this was well-written and the characters were interesting to get to know.” Girl reader, aged 15 “Cool story, exciting to the very end. The best fantasy book I've read in a long time. I liked this so much, I’m now reading the other two. Wrong order, oh well. The front cover looks amazing!” Boy reader, aged 15
To Sum It Up: ‘A gripping fantasy adventure, perfect for young adults and fans of Lord of the Rings. A FINALIST and highly recommended!’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
The Scarlet Queen is the third book of the Darkwollf saga. This fantasy adventure takes place in the land of Alluria and continues with a magic user named Jane who wakes up disoriented in the Garrison of Troll Fang Pass. She observes troops preparing for a battle that will take place in the northern trade city of Chalon. Jane leaves the Garrison and soon finds herself in the forest heading north because she feels a strong force pulling her. She hears a small group calling her name and in close pursuit. Jane tries to flee, but is eventually caught. An Elven lady uses a sleeping spell to subdue Jane. The group consists of Jane's allies. Her human friends Geoff and Sawyer who were transported to Alluria in the first book in the saga. Also there are two Elves named Ariel and Ishara. Ariel notices that there are two scratch marks on Jane's neck which she believes are the cause of the young girl's delirium. Ariel thinks that a Vampire is what scratched Jane's neck and if they do not act quickly, Jane will also turn into an undead Vampire. After Jane is taken back to the Garrison, Ariel tells Geoff that the Shadowlord from the north is trying to capture Jane. The Shadowlord and his Dark armies are trying to take control of Alluria. An eventual showdown between the Dark armies and an Elven/Human alliance builds up at Chalon. Jane has premonitions about the Shadowlord getting closer as her friends try to find a way to save her. I really enjoyed the characters and their interactions. It is told from many points of view which gives the the story more depth. This book can be read as a standalone because the author does a good job of updating the readers in this fun fantasy.
As the Scarlet Queen's vast armies swarm the lands of Alluria, Jane has been transformed to a dark druid, under the spell of the Shadowlord. Geoff, Sawyer, and Ishara look to Ariel for answers. Can Jane be turned back to who she once was or has the Scarlet Queen devised a trojan horse within their ranks? As Jane's power grows, so do the Scarlet Queen's armies as they crush those who oppose them underfoot. Distrust between the human and elven races must be overcome if the Scarlet Queen is going to be stopped. Can sworn enemies unite to save Alluria or is all lost?
The Scarlet Queen is an epic fantasy I couldn't stop reading. From start to finish, I connected with the characters and the riveting story transported me to Alluria. Mitch Reinhardt is a talented fantasy writer and his world-building skills are intricate, descriptive, and visual. I had not read more than three pages before I was hooked. The plot itself is a reader's dream with twists I didn't see coming, action scenes equally balanced with emotional scenes, and an epic final battle so intense, it took my breath away. As a Tolkien scholar, I found myself comparing Mitch Reinhardt's writing to Tolkien and it stacks up to the great professor. There are also similarities to Robert Jordan. A brilliant fantasy novel, The Scarlet Queen is a must-read. I need to go back and read books one and two now. Highly recommend!
Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in the hopes I'd review it.
Third in the series, “The scarlet Queen“ follows Geoff, Sawyer, Ariel and Ishara, as they struggle to find a way to hold back the ruthless conquering armies of the scarlet queen and the evil that rises with the ongoing war. The country of Alluria trembles with despair if those four cannot find a way to turn the tides. Love will enter for some, but old resentments between the races of humans and elves will hamper others and underneath, Jane, now a powerful dark druid is poised to conquer all. The worldbuilding continue3s to be excellent and the saga that the author built over the first two books comes toa head for some plot lines, while others only develop further (hopefully to be picked up in another book). I enjoyed the story, there was plenty of action and relationship and even drama to fill all the pages. I especially liked the realistic tensions between the races and how they were explored more than the previous books.
This was a great little read, especially for the younger audience!
It is Book 3 of The Darkwolf Saga. Book 1, The Wizard's Key, can really stand on its own, but Book 2, The Iron Citadel, begins a new story that continues in The Scarlet Queen.
Geoff, Sawyer, and Jane are still in Alluria to help the druid elf Ariel defeat the Scarlet Queen as she tries to take over the land at any cost, but they are not sure if Jane can be trusted after her bout with the vampire in The Iron Citadel. How can they abandon a good friend who never wanted to be infected with evil? But how can they allow her to endanger all of them as well as all of Alluria?
If you like fantasy and reading about magic, wizards, druids, elves and throw in villains this series will not disappoint. It had amazing characters and a unique way of putting this all together during modern times. Can't wait for the next book.
