Rate this book
Joyce, possibly the most thrilling Christian novel you’ll ever read.“OH NO!” More than a shout, It was a scream.

Don’t read this at night! A Spiritual Warfare novel. It’s amazing, frightening, and at times, a heart-moving suspense thriller. Author Robert E Cook has written another action-filled novel that’s going to warm your heart as it makes your blood run cold!

When Tommy Joyce, a middle-aged detective was sent to investigate a dead body, the last thing on his mind was to see the most bizarre death he had witnessed in two decades working homicide.

The death was just the first. Bodies started to stack up. The cause of death could not be explained. The second was virtually impossible, and the third will give you nightmares. It’s a horror movie. Except it’s not a movie. The police turn to alternative sources for advice.

What do a fortune teller and a Christian pastor have in common?

For Tommy Joyce they become indispensable. Each offers valuable advice and unique insight into the baffling and grotesque series of killings.

Then come the pictures. An ordinary lady of unshakable faith has the proof. The pictures verify the fight is not against flesh and blood. She proves the battle is against the powers of darkness not of this world.

The pastor knows the danger. He has insights only a man of prayer can have. He leads a contingent of battle-hardened warriors into spiritual warfare that proves the fight against evil is real.

There is truth in the one thing Joyce has missed all his life. Spend time with the veteran detective as he learns of a realm of which he has never heard.

Joyce takes you on the ride of a lifetime in a battle of good and evil. When the two worlds collide, there is more than just noise. Be warned. Only a weak heart will cause you to put down this mystery. A true thriller of demons and angels.

The battle rages and Tommy Joyce is on the front line. Death is an all too real possibility. Be there when he comes face to face with a power he is ill equipt to confront. Yet he does.

When the pastor rallies his team of warriors, the fight is taken to the enemy and a spiritual war is waged. The fight is truly to the finish.

The finish. Wait for it.

A rare small town spiritual warfare story

I finished reading the book Joyce. I gave it five stars because of the topic, spiritual warfare in a small town, the characterizations, and the accurate descriptions of Christian's committed to hearing the direction of God. Spiritual Warfare is an interesting and important topic. Giving it a fictional account allowed for a peek into what few will see.
It is real.
I was tempted to give four and a half stars, only because I wish the story had been longer. The backstory of the major players could have been included. Also how did the minister and the praying mother connect to the pastor? It would have been nice to see follow up on Joyce. Was he thanking the pastor for his life? Or was he thanking the pastor for helping him find the way to eternal life?
Maybe a follow story will be written if enough readers leave a review.
The author does offer another story about this topic.
For all the readers of This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti, this will be a treat.
