Hello, it's lovely to meet you!

A bit about me - I began as a suspense/thriller writer (you can find me here on Goodreads under D.F. Hart, if you'd like to learn more about that body of work).

I wrote a supplemental character named Maddie in book Three of my suspense series, and I put her through quite a lot in that story. She resonated deeply with me, more than any other supplemental character I've written to date. And I felt she deserved a happy ending.

I have my MBA with Accounting concentration, and live in Texas with my fabulous husband and two fur-babies that aren't spoiled one single bit.

The seventh book in the series brings Faith and Rick's story. The author does a fantastic job bringing them together , helping one another over the walls they've built around themselves. She does an amazing job taking them on an emotional journey and coming away with a deep , heartfelt love with a strong connection and chemistry. It's well written with perfectly painted scenes , moves quickly and smoothly and is a wonderful read.

This is book seven in the Another Try Novellas series and tells the story of Faith Thomas and Rick Connor. Faith is in her mid-thirties and been married for over a decade and a bit of a romantic, whose heart was broken to find her husband in their bed with a much younger woman. Devastated by his betrayal, she leaves him behind and returns home to Texas and gets a small apartment and a job using her accounting skills. She still hasn’t unpacked everything afters six months, trying to spend her time working as hard as she can and avoiding any invitations to go out. She especially doesn’t want to let anyone into her heart again, so no one can hurt her that way. Rick is almost forty and has opened up a bookshop in town and lives in an apartment above it. He inherited the building he put his shop in, and he called it Book Keepers. He retired from his position as a cryptologist in the Navy, and suffered a huge personal loss some years before, and it was only his uncle who helped him keep his position until he officially retired in October. He only moved to Pantego, Texas five months before, after his uncle Jack died. After renovating the building he only opened his shop at the end of March. Both live near each other, but working as hard as they have, they have never run into each other.

Faith finally pushes herself to go out one evening and visits the bookstore to look for some more books in her favourite series. She loves the way the store is laid out, which she gets immediately when Rick greets her and points out the layout. It is organised in a very different way from most bookshops or libraries and she automatically understands the division of left and right brain topics used in the layout and even the ordering of books in a series by their number within the series, rather than alphabetical, which would be so annoying when you are looking for the next one in the numbered series! I totally get that. Rick has been alone for four years after his loss and made his peace with being alone, that is until Faith walked into his bookstore. It is close to locking up time and he asks her if she would like to get something to eat at one of the local eateries. She agrees, but won’t let him know where she lives, but agrees to meet him at Mama J’s.

There is an immediate attraction between the two and even Mama J can see the chemistry. He wants to see her for dinner again the next day, but she has to go to a conference for the small manufacturing company she now works for. Sensing her reluctance to be tied to an actual date, he leaves it in her hands to come to the store when she is comfortable enough to see him again or not! Whilst she is away, she gets to think about her live and whether she wants to try another relationship again. Both have been devastated by past events and closed themselves off to love and relationships, but when the chemistry hits between the two of them, they have to reconsider what they want from life and if they can allow someone else into their hearts again. Gut wrenching events in the past storyline and utter betrayal, things that have happened to others in life, and the decision is whether to live your life or just pretend to and keep busy with work. Both have to reconsider what they expected for their futures and whether they can live without each other or not. Another short but hard hitting romance, with very realistic situations and characters. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Learning to fly again...
by and1515

What started out as just another night out with the girls ended quite differently then she'd ever dreamed but now Faith was no longer wearing her rosy colored glasses nor was she ignorent of her spouce's deplorable choices.
It totally amazed her how quickly three hundred and sixty five days can disappear in the blink of an eye.
One day while out and about she came across a niffty book store with a clever title and wow she'd been impressed with some of the wonderful titles he had available.
Faith surprised herself by having dinner with Rick the nice guy who owned that wonderful bookstore
and of course she felt compelled to share her sad wooful tale.
He'd been excited when she'd walked into his little shop and even sharing a meal with a beautiful woman and of course he could understand she was a little gun shy and being cautious.
But honestly Faith continued to reflect on the past and who hurt she still felt however she deserved to be happy.
He'd been happily surprised by her message but with a smile he quickly replied.
Faith knew he'd made his previous career in the military and she had quite a laugh when he explained some of his duties.
However like herself she knew it took a lot to share more of himself on a deeper level.
Faith couldn't understand why he was so attracted to her; she couldn't help but want to pickup her heals and skedaddle as quickly as possible back to the only place she now considered her safe haven.
She came back.. Again he'd missed her and he wasn't going to waste one more moment.
Yet life keeps chugging along and every now and then it throws a world size curve ball at you leaving you wondering why now?
And what's next?

This is book seven in The Another Try Series and it is Faith and Rick's story and omg what an emotional ride. Faith washout with friends when she gets a strange e-mail telling her to go and and press record on her phone, she thinks that this is.strange but she goes with it only to find her husband Kevin who she had been married to for ten years in bed with another woman and that is the end of her marriage and she is devastated, angry and so hurt that she moves away and closes her self off to life other than work but one year later and she decides to go to the book shop and that is when her life chances. Rick is ex military but now he owns Book Keepers book store and trying to get on with his life the best he can after having his whole life fall apart years ago even though he still finds it hard to carry on and that is when Faith walks into his book store and he was completely taken with this beautiful woman. Omg this book completely broke me with everything that they had both gone through and I felt all there pain as if I was going through it with them. There chemistry and connection between them was instant but they both had walls so high and were both a little bit broken but will they be able to get past everything so they can both get the happy ending and future together that they really deserve. Faith Hart is an amazing author and writer and I have read all her books and I have enjoyed every single one and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Walls go up quickly but they aren’t torn down nearly as fast. Faith gets the shock of her life when she’s sent an email to go home NOW and to have her camera running. Needless to say, what she saw and caught on camera changed her life. Now, the walls go up …. FAST.

However, all it takes is for the right man to come along. He can bulldoze those walls down with a little finesse. And Rick is the right man. He knows what pain and loss is too. He lost everyone that mattered to him four years ago. His healing was slow and he became a hermit wanting little to do with the outside world UNTIL ….

Two people who know loss. Two people who struggle to find themselves again. Rick is ready but Faith needs more time.

⁉️ QUESTIONS…. LIKES….. WISHES ⁉️

... Did Keven ever see, really see, that he is an idiot?

... Walls do build when trust is broken. It was good to see the realism here.

... Would have liked less self talk, less internal dialogue.

... Wanted to know what Rick was working on …. what was he deciphering?

... Wanted to know more about Kevin … did he ever have any real feelings for Faith? What happened? Any regrets? His ‘ending’ was a little too convenient, almost like it was thrown in as an afterthought.

Faith Thomas is devastated when her marriage ends after catching her husband in bed with another woman. Ten years of marriage were over. Faith returned home to Texas and never wanted to fall in love again.

Rick Connor is ex-military, a retired Navy cryptologist, who has opened a bookstore to keep busy. He remains alone and accepts that. But when Faith Thomas comes into his bookstore to browse, something changes. She makes him want to open up and live again, if he can convince her to share his life with him. Would he be able to show Faith that he can be trusted? Will she give him a chance to prove himself?

This was a good story. The two of them had dinner and talked about themselves and their pasts, which is a fantastic way to begin healing. Are they off to a good start for more? Grab your copy and see how their relationship progresses. These characters are so likable and worthy of something good coming their way. Could it be time for a HEA?

I have really loved reading One Last Try by Faith Hart because it is about getting a second chance at love. This particular story is about Faith and Rick. Both have had some really hard experiences the last couple of years. Faith is unsure about giving her heart to another man. Rick resigned himself to forever be alone. When they meet, it is like fireworks!! I really hoped that they would realize what they need is each other. But it is a slow burn of romance for the both of them and I would highly recommend reading.

I really liked this story. Faith gets divorced after catching her husband cheating on her. Moves to Texas and gets a good job. Rick also moved to Texas after his Uncle passed. He owns a bookstore. When they meet they really hit it off. But will it last? I kept holding my breath for the shoe to fall. Can’t say if it did or didn’t read it yourself.
