The Ære Saga #1

Perfekt Order

Rate this book
All's fair when you're in love with War.

For seventeen-year-old Mia Ahlström, a world ruled by order is the only world she allows. A lifetime of chore charts, to-do lists and study schedules have helped earn her a spot at Redwood State University's engineering program. And while her five year plan includes finding her very own happily-evah-aftah, years at an all-girls boarding school left her feeling woefully unprepared for keg parties and co-ed extracurricular activities.

So nothing surprises her more than catching the eye of Tyr Fredriksen at her first college party. The imposing Swede is arrogantly charming, stubbornly overprotective, and runs hot-and-cold in ways that defy reason . . . until Mia learns that she's fallen for the Norse God of War; an immortal battle deity hiding on Midgard (Earth) to protect a valuable Asgardian treasure from a feral enemy. With a price on his head, Tyr brings more than a little excitement to Mia's rigidly controlled life. Choosing Tyr may be the biggest distraction--or the greatest adventure--she's ever had.

This story has gotten very high reviews on both Goodreads & Amazon, but I had some problems with it.

First, it's told in first person, from our heroine Mia's point of view.
But the author drops clues about what's going on that I, as the reader see, but Mia does not.
This makes Mia clueless.
But more importantly, it drives a wedge between me as the reader and the heroine.
In first person, I am supposed to see things as Mia sees them, experience things as Mia experiences them. I'm not supposed to figure things out or question what's going on if she doesn't.
The story would have been better presented in close 3rd person, where you can show the reader different things from the characters.

But I also had a problem with Mia's age in the story.
She's 17. This is her first time away from home.
She's only kissed 3 guys in her life, and then she meets Tyr.
Tyr is much, much older.

I found this to be a little creepy.
Imagine a 40 year old man dating a 17 year old.
A 50 year old man dating a 17 year old.
A 60 year old man dating a 17 year old.
Yeah, creepy & a little perverted.

I don't have the same problem if the woman is even a few years older.
At the very least, Mia should have been 18.
Sex with a 17 year old is statutory rape in California, where the story is set, if the age difference is more than 3 years, even if the 17 year old is willing.
And remember, the author portrays Mia as being young, naive & clueless.
So yeah, at 17, this is not romantic.
It's a little disturbing.

Author: please make Mia 18 with her 19th birthday coming up.
If Mia had been a little older, a little wiser, I would have enjoyed the story A LOT more.

I wanted to like this story, I really, really did. But, there were just too many things that didn’t add up and they kept increasing as the book went on. I’ll just explain the big ones.

1. Most of the book felt more like an education in the multitude of Norse Gods and folklore. ALL the Norse God/mythology was given SO much page time that I wanted to bang my head against the wall! There was no need to delve into every God, realm, story, species and ability all in one book! If the author would have stuck to just the ones pertinent to THIS story - then introduced others in future books, she would have had time to actually develop the characters enough to make a reader want to read on rather than walk away.

2. Because of the above, VERY little time was spent actually building those believable characters and plot-line. I could never buy into Tyr and Mia’s relationship because I was never given the opportunity to understand why Try was attracted to Mia or why he even liked her - let alone fell in love with her. Not one single reason!! Just - BAM! I love you! No explanation, no mention...nothing. The only reason Mia gave for her falling for Try was how hot he was. TOTALLY surface, completely skimmed over.

3. Mia being 17 just didn’t work at all. Especially with a centuries old God who we have no idea why he likes her in the first place. It REALLY doesn’t work with the sex aspect. Make her an official adult and include the sexy parts or keep her underage and lose them but being underage and intimate with.. well, the already mentioned OLD deity... uh...no.

SO...there are the big problems. There were many, many smaller threads that were lost ( Mia’s roommates??) or suddenly appeared out of nowhere (the conversation at the end to all the things each loved about each other.. Where did all those things come from? We never saw them!)

With all that said, however, I really do think the author has talent. The writing, itself, flowed smoothly and the ideas and basic storyline were unique and very creative. Maybe things will improve as the series continues. I doubt I’ll try anymore but others may enjoy the concept enough to give them a go.

Meh.

I really liked all of the mythology behind the story and I enjoyed the characters. The story itself was a bit on the boring side. The book is 472 pages long and it took until about the 50% point before anything of note actually happened and there started to be a purpose to the book.

There were a few really stupid and contrived scenes in this book that had me raising an eyebrow and shaking my head. They were back to back around the 35% mark but thankfully it didn't continue to be like that.

I think that main character Mia was a tad immature at times for this storyline but at no fault of her own. She was only 17. Her age didn't really fit the seriousness of her relationship or her high level of responsibility.

Also, the verbiage used in certain places by the gods didn't quite fit. For example, main character Tyr said he was going to "hit someone up" for something. He is around 1000 years old but didn't reflect that in his speech at all. Even adapting to different cultures and time periods, there would still be a gap in the local lingo.

I really liked the secondary characters quite a bit; more specifically, the gods and the valkyrie. They are great and I really cared for them as I read.

Even though I enjoyed the other characters and like the main characters, I'm not going to continue the series at this time. I might later on down the road but for now, since I just wasn't all that into the writing and the filler, I will move on to something else.

IT'S FINALLY OVER!!

I wish I could give this negative stars. Five big negative stars.

This is by far the worst book I've read this year; it's bad, boring and incredibly stupid. I didn't enjoy anything it offered me, even though there was a lot of potential.

I'm usually more lenient with self-published works, because I know authors don't have a publishing company that can help them revise their stories and correct them. And if I don't like the book, I always try to find something redeemable so I can up my rating (that was the case for Blades of Magic for example).

But Perfekt Order has nothing remotely good to offer.

I fail to understand why this book has this good a rating. There's nothing good about it: the plot is non-existent, all the characters are one-dimensional, the writing is a bad attempt at flowery prose and there's so much sexism in this book that I struggle to understand how a woman could write this.

The only reason I picked this up was the prospect of reading an entertaining action story revolving around Norse Mythology, with an interesting interspecies romance. I mean, iBooks did promise a "dazzling adventure and a truly epic romance". Guess what? It didn't deliver.

This was like reading a bad Twilight fan fiction. Meet Bella Swan Mia Ahlström, our beautiful, virginal protagonist who's the new girl in town. She just moved to Forks Arcata, California to attend University. Though she's a control freak and needs to have all her life perfectly planned, she quicky forgets her daily activities - like working out and going to class - when she meets Edward Cullen Tyr Friedriksen, an impossibly hot man with bulgy muscles and a misterious life. They meet at a party and obviously fall in love at first sight, because it wouldn't be a Twilight rip-off if there wasn't some instalove.

Every time a hot guy appears, Mia has to describe how sexy and fuckable he is. She must have talked about Tyr's huge torso and perfect abs and beautiful face like a thousand times throughout the book.

Then, there's the Freiya thing. The first time Mia knows about her, she hates her. This is by far my most hated trope.

Finally, it's really stupid how the author tried to give a personality to Mia that wasn't coherent with Mia's actions.

That's what happens when the author tries to write stupid patriarchal romance tropes.

All in all, I hated every character with every fiber of my being, specially Mia who's so dumb and useless she could have been replaced by a water bottle. The story in itself didn't make much sense at times. Here's an example of the stupid shit roaming this book:

The wolf snarled, a stream of angry sounds passing through his lips.
"He's saying Tyr's wrong. Jörmungandr and Hel will come when he calls them, and together they'll wipe out the gods and take down the compound." Brynn shook her head.
"You can speak wolf?" I asked incredulously.
"Can't you?" Brynn whispered over her shoulder.
"No," I muttered.

I mean, why would Brynn even explain what Fenrir was saying if she thought Mia could understand him??? And why would she think Mia could understand him when she's human???

This book is a bad joke. Worst of all, it could have been saved by the Norse Mythology, but the only things related to it were the names of a few characters (Tyr, Freiya and Fenrir) and infodump throughout the story about basic Norse myths. If you want to learn more about Norse Mythology read the Wikipedia page, at least it will be more entertaining than this pile of rubbish.

I was recommended this series by a close friend and when I finally got around to reading the series. MY MIND WAS BLOWN!!!! I love this book! I am a huge sucker for Norse Mythology and this book tugged at my heart strings. Now I have argued with my friends that Ull is better than Tyr (of course we all have different opinions), so sadly Ull still has my heart. But it doesn’t me that I didn’t love and enjoy this book.

Mia is stubborn and someone I could relate to, she needs to have control and her life to needs to make sense and be in order. She is a character that had a strong personality and the character was well written. I don’t have anything bad to say about her which is a huge compliment to the author.
Throughout the book Mia matched Tyr stubbornness and didn’t let him take control (You go Girl!!) Even though Mia has a strong head on her shoulders, I would google at Tyr was well, A hot man like that I would be a puddle of goo as well.

Try can be a complete *you know what* but he ended up growing on me as the book progressed. Reading about the God of War in this book I knew he was going to piss me off and then soften my heart. And of course S.T. Bende and her amazing stories, she made me fall for Tyr. There was a side to him I never thought or could of imagined that he had. I cried, laughed, got angry, and a whole bunch of other emotions with this book.

Having Mythological and Supernatural aspects in the book has me in overload. I loved this book and I can’t get enough, I read both books in one day and I will be reading it again because it was such a good book. I feel like I am rambling but when you enjoyed a book this much you can’t stop talking about it. I even went online after reading this book to find out more about Norse Mythology. I didn’t sleep at all that night, I learned so much!!!

Even though I loved this book Elsker will always hold a special place in my heart, but this is a close second (Sorry Tyr, Ull has stolen my heart) But besides that this book was well written and if you love mythology then you will be glad to have read this book. I'm so glad I discovered S.T. Bende as she's introduced more of the Norse world to me which I love & she writes an epic romance.

Quotes:
"And I love the way I feel when I’m in the same room as you. Like my heart is warm, and I’m finally in the right place. Like I’m not all alone anymore.”

“For a math genius, you’re unusually unobservant.”

"It’s not the most conventional first date, but since you’ve got feelings for my stove, it’ll have to do.”
“I’d apologize, but I’m not even remotely sorry. It’s a seriously sexy stove.”

“No time, prinsessa. Thar be monsters in them woods.”

"He knows Thor’s bolt could have hurt him if he’d wanted to. The lightning was a warning.”
“I thought Thor was the God of Thunder,” I whispered back.
“He multitasks.”

What would you expect when you are about to read a story about the God of War?

Mischief and mayhem of course! Does this book deliver these? Oh yeah and much much more.

Not only did I cry like a baby but I also swooned and laughed. S.T. Bende can make mythology interesting for even the hardest disbeliever.

Mia is your average college student working her way to greatness. Little did she expect to stumble upon a real life God on her way to the top.

Tyr... The stuff that dreams are made of! The God of War is stubborn, naughty and overprotective. His shields are way up but when Mia comes along even he has a hard time to withstand the temptation and his true chance of love.

Add the big bad wolf and a whole crew of Norske friends and you god a fairy tale to remember!

Are you ready to battle it out with war? The battle will commence... Soon! ;)

-------- Side note ------

This book was so different from the Elsker saga yet you could see some comparisons. I felt that this one might feel a little closer to the real world. It’s not immediately boom and that’s it. Here we really felt the insecurities they both had.

Oh and S.T. Bende I got a bone to pick with you young lady! You did not tell me that the next book was going to be “...” Or I might just have been not so attentive to notices the posts. But that’s besides the point! ;-)

FLOVED!!! S.T. has a way with Norse mythology, and writing in a way that really pulls you in. You instantly love Mia - she's strong and independent. A very strong and great companion for Tyr out charismatic God of War.

I loved the Elsker saga so much I felt like I was cheating on the old crew with the new, but really they are both amazing. I really am hoping that S.T. gives us a cross over novel (hint hint)

Mia is neurotic, loves her life to have order, to be rational, to make sense; to have Perfekt Order! She is a strong likable character that I enjoyed getting to know.

Tyr starts off as a hot jerk, you want to like him and really hope that he turns around cuz he comes off very hot and cold. But trust in S.T. and her magical story telling. I felt like I was experiencing what it means to be the Tyr; to be the God of War; and to have experienced tragic loss.

Brynn and Henrik are amazing supporting characters and cannot wait for more to their stories. Brynn is the best friend that everyone wants - happy and upbeat; exactly what you need her to be. Henrik - he's great, ungodly smart, and great comedic relief in some situations.

You cannot help but fall in love with this crew - if you love Norse mythology, swoon worthy Gods, and a kick butt strong fem-fatal, you will LOVE this book (and the series I'm sure)

I got this book knowing I would want to read through the series as I have also read S.T. Bende series the Elsker Saga, which I loved. This first book did not disappoint. I was into it from page one. The romance and comedy makes for a great read. The detailed descriptions that S.T. Bende creates with each situation as well as the feel and mood makes it easy to keep into the rhythm of the story and the characters. I love the budding romance not only with the main characters but also the small back stories and side romances with the secondary characters. I can totally relate to the OCD nature of the main character. lol. And all I can say about the motorcycle riding, leather jacket wearing, Norse God.....YUM! ;). I can't wait to read the next stories to see what is in store for the characters in the series but this first book was left with a satisfying ending as I hate cliffhangers. Totally recommend this book to anyone that wants to be swooning over a Norse God and laugh and have fun with all the characters.

I have found a new favorite author in S.T. Bende. I meet Ms. Bende at the 2016 Roanoke Author Invasion and thought what a unique series and take on Norse mythology. In meeting Ms. Bende, her passion for all mythology and writing was contagious. In Perfekt Order I found well written characters, easy to follow plot with a satisfying ending. I like that the books are connected yet can be read as stand-alone books. The books are as lively as Ms. Bende and Brynn which made time fly when reading them. This is a young adult book yet it was fast paced and captivating enough for me. Looking forward to the next book.

This is the first I've read by S.T Bende and I lo ed very every bit of it. I can't wait to ready the other series and get more of the Norse God worlds. This so far is a very clean story. It alludes to sexual happenings but stays very clean. The amount of research that had to have happened to make this book awesome had to been alot. STBende goes into great detail but still understandable (I didn't feel like I was reading a textbook for a mythology class) about the relations of the Norse Gods. It made me want to know more of the Norse Mythology.

This was a great read. It was full of laughter, and craziness. I did think that the ending could have used more work. There were some parts where I was a bit bored at. However, the book as a whole kept me engaged, and thoroughly entertained. I am happy that I read this book. I got to know more about Asgard (I forgot the spelling). The characters were awesome and funny. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Overall, an enjoyable read.

This is the second of Bende's series I've gotten completely hooked on. She writes engrossing tales full of danger and intrigue and is great at the Norse mythology. Can't put her books down and ended up ordering the next one in the series the moment I finished. Though her stories are sensual, there is no smut. They are just good clean fun.

A story about a Norse god is something I like, especially when they are as good as this one.
Mia is moving to a new place for her study. There something strange happens to her and next she meets Tyr.

He tries to stay away from her, but he can't
Which means she gets involved in his life and she finds out her is the god of war. Next to that there are some problems with that including an evil wolf.

Great read with action and love
Can't wait to read more in this series

The few Northern Gods

S. T. Bende has a wonderful way to transport you to a world FAR, FAR AWAY you still be in your own real world!
She has a wonderful way with words to teach some words from each realm!
When I have the finances I will get my books that are my true love of past time!
Thank you S. T. for the monsters, Gods, love, fear, worry for the future and awe for the lessons of the past!
I know fiction and I also think that there is a bit of truth in fiction!

Good book, but not like the other series. It was quite enjoyable none the less though. Her constantly using "Cheese and Crackers" when frustrated was hilarious; though I'd have given up on Tyr a long time ago.

Although I read the blurb for Perfekt Order, it was quite some time ago. So, when starting the book, I decided not to refresh my memory and went in semi-blind.

"First impressions took a heartbeat to make, but a lifetime to break."

Not knowing much about what I was getting into, my first impression of Mia was  a positive one. She's a bit of an introvert,  preferring to stay under the radar, although she did seem eager to try new things. Being a character so fond of math and science, such clear-cut subjects, I was immediately curious to see how she would cope with her impending brush with all things mythological and supernatutal. When we first meet Mia, she's enthusiastically and clumsily moving into her new home at college. While working off some of that nervous energy, she's thrown off kilter when she encounters something horrifying on her first night in town. The author throws readers right into the action very quickly here, which I loved.

"If my Prince Charming was at this party, he’d better find clavicles sexy."

While our heroine was modest and geeky in the best possible way, the other characters' personalities were just as distinguished and strong. Bende really has a knack for writing completely endearing characters that are easy to fall in love with. Jason, Heather, Charlotte, Henrik and Brynn are all fantastic supporting characters. Freya, in particular, was one that I adored. I do wish we would have seen more of her throughout this book, but I'm sure we will in due time. Tyr, of course, is as dreamy as ever. Imposing and mysterious, he oozes quiet charm and protectiveness. And not to worry-- his determination to keep Mia safe doesn't mean he gets away with being bossy. Our heroine has a backbone. Hallelujah! She puts her foot down early on and I definitely gained some respect for her with that act. She's a strong, admirable character. One downside to Mia, however, was how slow she was on the uptake for such a smart girl. I'm sure someone's brain would automatically try to rationalize strange occurrences, but how many events have to occur or very specific, very unique names have to be dropped (right after discussing them, in fact) before things start to fall into place? Of course, her being slow to catch on is part of prolonging the mystery, so it wouldn't normally bother me, but there were times when it didn't line up with certain qualities that I knew her character to have. And, hey, at least Brynn agrees with me.

“For a math genius, you’re unusually unobservant.”

But Mia adjusts pretty well once she does put the pieces together, and continues to exude strong-will and bravery. One small issue I have is that, despite all of Mia's demanding that she is capable and strong, she was never really given the opportunity to prove this. She is clearly a strong girl, I just wish we could have seen more of that, and that she could have had a bigger role in "saving the day" or fighting alongside Tyr. I suppose I was hoping for her to bust out of that protective bubble her friends placed her in and blow everyone away.

Things take an exciting turn towards the end of the book-- plenty of action and suspense to keep you flying through those last pages. The romance in Perfekt Order was disgustingly sweet in the best way, something I've come to expect from this author. Mia and Tyr, while an unexpected match, are an enchanting couple and I'm looking forward to catching up with them in the future.

Fans of Norse mythology and all things supernatural will love sharing Mia and Tyr's adventure. And if you're like me, and aren't so familiar with certain stories and characters, don't be deterred. Bende does a great job of giving us a crash course in everything that's important in order to follow along with and thoroughly enjoy this story! I can't wait to continue on with this series.

"And I love the way I feel when I’m in the same room as you. Like my heart is warm, and I’m finally in the right place. Like I’m not all alone anymore.”

Review to come!

Update 2/6/16:

See more reviews on my blog Novels and Necklaces

S.T. Bende never ceases to amaze me with her wonderful way of mixing Norse mythology into an exciting adventure of a story! I have been a huge fan of S.T. Bende since reading the Elsker Saga, and while this has a similar feel, it's a whole new story with unique and amazing characters that will easily find a way into your heart the instant you meet them. Ms. Bende's writing pulls you in immediately, and every scene is richly described so you feel like every scene is playing out in front of you. I never wanted this book to end because I love being in the world S.T. Bende has created so much!! While taking place in the same "world" as the Elsker Saga, this is a standalone series. You don't have to read the Elsker Saga to understand anything...but seriously, why wouldn't you want to read those awesome books??

The best part of this book is the amazing cast of characters that Ms. Bende has written. I fell in love with Mia immediately. She's spunky, sassy, and independent. Mia is so strong, and handles anything that life throws at her with a comfort that would leave others freaking out. Granted, she's a bit neurotic with all her order and OCD-ness, but that was one of her many traits that made her so relatable to me. Tyr, aka the God of War, is too hot to handle! He starts off as basically an jerk (albeit a very hot and dreamy one), but you know what's coming...you see a different side later on after he finally lets Mia in. Tyr is the ultimate protector, I mean come on...he's the God of War...but he just wants to keep everyone he loves safe. Throughout the story, I truly felt like I understood the weight he carries on his shoulders, and I just wanted to give him a hug. Together Mia and Tyr are an amazing couple. They balance each other out, and give each other strength during the rough and crazy times. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they definitely have some steamy scenes!

The supporting characters are just as amazing. Brynn had me cracking up with her crazy, upbeat personality, and Henrick was just as perfect too. Each book in this series will be about a different character, and I can't wait for their story!!

Definitely check this series (and the Elsker Saga!) right away!! S.T. Bende has crafted another amazing story with an awesome cast of characters. She incorporates Norse mythology into the story in an effortless way, and you can tell how much research and time she puts into writing her novels. I can't wait to read the next book, Perfekt Control!

Happy reading :)

4.5 Stars

I loved the Elsker Saga, so I was really looking forward to this new series by ST Bende, still set in Norse mythology, but with a new set of people and gods. And I'm happy to say I was not disappointed. I loved Tyr and Mia's story!

Mia's arrival at her new college was no gentle transition. Right off the bat, she is thrust into some crazy action, proof positive that this was going to be a fun and exciting read. And it was. Journeying with Mia as she tries to figure out what's going on around her was great, particularly because Mia was such an orderly, schedule-obsessed, black-and-white person. Mythology coming to life wasn't even on her radar. So watching how different things were revealed to her really kept the story interesting and exciting. There were great twists and turns - I mean, really great twists and turns. This storyline kept me intrigued and guessing. I felt just as invested in the outcome of this story as Mia and Tyr; just as attached to this fantastic group of Norse gods and their futures. Even through the last few chapters I was kept on my toes, and I loved it.

With all this excitement, of course there was romance. How could there not be romance when a fantastic girl like Mia meets a hunk like Tyr? Even though Tyr was not the most forthcoming guy in the beginning, I could totally feel the chemistry between these two. But I actually liked that Tyr was hard to read in the beginning because I liked the more gradual approach to their relationship. I loved how they got to know each other and how much they ended up having in common. They were a great match. The only thing I didn't love (and actually made me hold back half a star in my rating), was Mia's age. I know it's not a big deal, but I would have personally felt better if she was 18. It may not make much of a difference with the "deity-age-gap" but that's just me. Otherwise, I loved them, loved the friendship they had, loved the strength they brought out of each other, loved the trust they built into each other, and loved the love they felt.

Plus, there are some other truly fabulous characters. With Henrik and Brynn, you can't go wrong. These two are the cutest, and I cannot wait to read more about them. Heather and Charlotte are great roommates, bring normalcy to the gods and Mia's life. And then there are some other gods we meet, that I won't reveal, but I really loved, and cannot wait for more from them as well. The casting was fantastic, and made this story that much better. I loved 'Perfekt Order' and cannot wait for the rest of this series.

All's fair when you're in love with War.
For seventeen-year-old Mia Ahlström, a world ruled by order is the only world she allows. A lifetime of chore charts, to-do lists and study schedules have helped earn her a spot at Redwood State University’s engineering program. And while her five year plan includes finding her very own happily-evah-aftah, years at an all-girls boarding school left her feeling woefully unprepared for keg parties and co-ed extracurricular activities.

So nothing surprises her more than catching the eye of Tyr Fredriksen at her first college party. The imposing Swede is arrogantly charming, stubbornly overprotective, and runs hot-and-cold in ways that defy reason . . . until Mia learns that she’s fallen for the Norse God of War; an immortal battle deity hiding on Midgard (Earth) to protect a valuable Asgardian treasure from a feral enemy. With a price on his head, Tyr brings more than a little excitement to Mia’s rigidly controlled life. Choosing Tyr may be the biggest distraction—or the greatest adventure—she’s ever had.

I received an arc for an honest review. I have to state that the amazing S.T. Bende did not disappoint! I absolutely adore Mia and Tyr! They are definitely perfekt for one another. I enjoyed the fact that Mia was not a push over and had the whole southern belle thing going for her, “Makeup to mud in the time it takes you to say bless your heart.” Throughout the entire book, she matched Tyr stubbornness and didn't let him coddle her. It was also adorable when Mia and Tyr first met, she was always in a state of shock- usually caught staring at his hot body. I almost had a cuteness overload! I also enjoyed the mythology and supernatural aspect of it. It was so interesting and the story progressed very well.
Now let's talk about Brynn and Henrik... they are cuter than a dickens! I cannot wait till the next book: Perfekt Control. They are so adorable and they will make a mighty fine deity couple! Thanks St for the opportunity to be a beta reader and I look forward to your following books

I've heard many great things about this author, and now I finally know what all the hype is about! I love to read stories involving different types of mythologies. Norse is one of the newer myths that I have begun to get into, and it's growing increasingly more fascinating to me. I loved learning more about the Norse legends in this modern adaptation by Miss Bende. This book was a winner!

Now, I have to get this out of my system. Don't misunderstand me when I tell you that Mia is literally the most oblivious person I have probably ever met (however well you can "meet" a person who is fictional). Did she just not even pay attention to ANYTHING that her friends and teachers were teaching her about the Norse mythology? Because she had to have pretty basic things repeated to her an awful lot. And the whole deal with almost EVERYONE around her being related to the old Norse legends:

"Odin? Is he a friend or an uncle or something?” Was every Swede named after a Norse god?

I literally yelled at my book like "Freaking NO! But every NORSE GOD is named after a NORSE GOD!" And proceeded to face-palm my forehead. Seriously though! It took her half the dang book to start asking the obvious questions. *deep sigh*

Regardless of Mia's completely oblivious nature, I adored her and Tyr's story. They are so sweet together (despite Tyr's overbearing personality). They support each other's weaknesses, protect and care for one another, and see past each other's faults to the loving person beneath. *breathy sigh*

I highly recommend this book to those with a love of mythology/ancient history, drama (but in a good way), and (of course) romance. It's a great way to spend your time. Be forewarned, it is part of a series that is yet to be completed. If this turns you off, come back to it in a few months—a year. You won't regret it!

S.T. Bende is the USA Today bestselling author of The Elsker Saga. Perfekt Order is the first book in her second series, The AEre Saga. These two sagas are very similar considering that they both involve college age women falling in love with Norse Gods. However, their concepts are very enticing, and I enjoyed both.

S.T. Bende has the gift of writing a contemporary novel that incorporates mythology accurately. I don't find a lot of novels that incorporate Norse Mythology, let alone conemporaries, and even though Perfekt Order is an older young adult novel I found that it was suitable for all adults. It doesn't focus on what I call the "cheese" of early adulthood college life, but instead chooses to focus on the mythology and growing up.

S.T. Bende's writing, itself, is very clean, and she doesn't over describe or include filer of any kind. Her writing is full of action and romance, and I was pleased to find that it wasn't just direct at women. I particularly enjoyed her descriptions of Redwood State Unviersity, particularly the forest, and I felt myself falling into the novel along with Mia. It reminded me of when I was thirteen and reading Twilight by Stephanie Myers for the first time. I rarely am able to feel that magic that I felt when first reading Twilight due to the mass of books that I go through on a daily basis, and it was nice to fall back in love with a setting and cast as beautiful as those in Perfekt Order.

Perfeket Order is everything that I want in a novel. It has mythology, action, romance and suspense, and not once did I find myself bored and wondering whether i should finish the book or not. S.T. Bende's writing is beautiful, and she is a wonderful storyteller. She shows me what she sees, instead of telling me, and that is all I could ask for.

Cheese and crackers! ST Bende has once again crafted utter Perfektion in this hilarious (be prepared to snort aloud), YA (slightly more NA in my opinion) tale about maintaining balance through negotiation, opening to others (as well as risks and flaws), revealing secrets, embracing change, and of course accepting love. Mia, a slightly OCD girl is already struggling to maintain her peaceful order when she starts her new college life on the west coast. Her new roommate Brynn (a bubbly firecracker of a best friend) pulls Mia into her little Swedish group of TA/engineer/frat boy Henrik (he’s the next book; thank the gods, we get more of him!) and Tyr, the domineering, bossy and drop-dead-gorgeous goliath of a man. But when Mia’s brother tells her to live a little, he probably didn’t mean for that to involve other Realms, avenging monsters, space guns, and relationships with Norse gods! I enjoyed following the developing play between the girl who makes chore schedules and the man who organizes his kitchen cabinets as they struggled to find balance between their controlling personalities, especially with the overprotective Tyr in an internal battle over Mia’s involvement in his life. I’m a fan of Norse mythology, and the twists that ST Bende creates with them are always scintillating, though this is by far my favorite of hers… Well, at least until the next Ære book. I laughed (hard), I cringed, I worried, I whooped, and I swooned. I’ve dog-eared every few pages as ‘favorite quote’ or ‘best scene’… and I had to make room on my book boyfriend list for Tyr (and his ego). Highly recommend. Jeg elsker denne boken!

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. The first book in the Ære Saga is an appealing tale of adventure, Norse mythology and love. Tyr, the God of War, is a captivating, sexy character with an unexpected uncertainty and gentleness about him that contrasts and compliments his tough "God of War" persona. The author manages to illustrate his vulnerabilities without making him seem any the less tough. Mia, is a human college student with an independent and somewhat OCD streak, she becomes embroiled in the Asguardian's world when she is attacked by one of his enemies. The chemistry between Mia and Tyr is palpable from the start and the need to see how their relationship develops keeps you from putting the book down. Set on Earth, it is a love story that blends Norse mythology very effectively with modern times. Though Mia and Tyr's story is foremost in the book, you can not help becoming attached to the secondary protagonists. Brynn, Henrik, Elsa, Forse and Freya are all likeable characters that add depth to the story and that leave you wanting to hear more about their lives. Perfekt Order is a quick, easy read with humour, romance, adventure and some great characters. A excellent start to the series and worth reading wether you like Norse mythology or not.

I liked the book and I'm excited to read book 2 based on the reviews looks like it'll be better than the first.

I enjoyed Tyr and I liked the push and pull at the top of the story.

However Mia got annoying and a little unrealistic for me saying things (incessantly) like
Bejeebus, cheese and crackers! High school kids don't talk like that and neither do college kids unless they're the ultimate socially awkward geek

The one thing that can be a central theme in these type of books is that the main character (females) neuroses trump they're will to survive. Air go you know your boyfriend is a god fighting a mythical creature yet you're pissed bc they locked you in the room so you're not a distraction let alone get killed.

Or the best she's being stalked by a homicidal maniac and still insists on going to school even though everyone is risking their lives for her -- that $h*t takes me out of the story.

Side tracking but I'd like to see these authors make the female protagonist more well rounded & fun (like max in elemental Paladins) not always these nagging hags lol... I digress.

With that being said I still enjoyed the book enough to read book # 2

I put off reading this book for a little while because the indication that mythology was involved (that I knew nothing about) made me not want to use my brain to read it. FATAL MISTAKE!!

This book is awesome!

Yes I know I use the word awesome ALOT but seriously, I love this book. I love reading stories that allow me to identify with the main character in some way and allowed me to get lost in the world. S.T Bende is a talented author. You don't need to know alot about the mythology to enjoy this story because it is broken down for you in a not so obvious and completely engaging way. The characters are easy to get wrapped up in, especially the main character seventeen year old Mia. The story is funny at times, and tugs on my heartstrings at others. What I did love about this story is the way that S.T Bende orchestrated Tyr and Mia's romance into a thrilling adventure, and that you really aren't able to guess how the story ends unlike most books that I have read in the past.

If y'all haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend it.

What another amazing book from S.T. Bende. I loved this story & boy do I have a new book boyfriend in Tyr WOW.
From the first chapter of this book I was hooked & couldn't put it down. I loved meeting all the new characters and can't wait to read their stories. I just hope that there is more of Tyr & Mia in the future as I feel there is more to their story.
If you have read the Elsker saga then you'll love this book just as much (I think this book actually has the edge over Elsker for me but that's because I fell for Tyr right from the start). If you haven't read Elsker you don't have to read that before you start this book but I recommend it.
I'm so glad I discovered S.T. Bende as she's introduced more of the Norse world to me which I love & she writes an epic romance.
