Everything has changed. And it could mean the end of the world.
The comet has arrived. The elite mages, once primed to hold their ground, now find themselves in a panic. They've been separated, and the upper hand they once called their own has been stolen from right under their noses.
The Pishacha are ready to release Kashmeru from his tomb, to destroy the Lotus empress, and follow their dark god into the new era. To stop them, the elite mages must give up the very thing they've been fighting for--and hope it's enough to win the war.

Ahhhhhh It’s so nice to find a series that just grips you from the first book! I read books 1 and 2 last year and have been dying to get to the rest of the series ever since! Here are some highlights from each book that I LOVED:
Crimson: The intertwining of cultures, the unique, Chakra-based magic system (different "colored" Mages all wield different powers), the main character, Mayhara, who is calm, poised, and self-assured. The genre-splicing is great, too - dystopian-meets-epic with an urban twist. I'm very much looking forward to meeting the other Mages and seeing where things go from here. BTW, when Mayhara used her magic to apply lipstick? Brilliant. I love magic that's lethal AND cosmetically useful ;)
Copper: If I thought book 1 was fast-paced and brilliant, then I better come up with a better vocabulary to describe the second book. Wow! The magical system, the suspense, the inside look at those camps - everything is heightened the second time around, which only made the reading experience more enjoyable.
Golden: The elite mages have to join together in the fight against Kashmeru’s shadow army and the dark mages. THIS is the book where urban becomes epic. And I just love the blending of Asian and apocalyptic, which makes it a truly unique story in the fantasy world. BTW, EVERYTHING moving from this point forward is upped – the tension, the stakes, action, the character development, the impending feelings of doom. This was definitely the most intense installment!
Emerald: After joining forces (hooray!), the elite mages (including some new faces!) have tracked down half of the magical daggers but the enemy isn’t far behind. This one was SO EPIC but holy crap, there were some heartbreaking moments. Plus a serious cliffhanger. But that’s okay because IT’S A COMPLETE SERIES so I got to move right onto Sapphire!
Sapphire: Our ragtag band of kickass mages is finally able to get the upper hand, but not without some serious hits. I mean, yeah, sure, that cliffhanger from EMERALD is resolved but AT WHAT COST, DOROTHY? And Naree, what are you even doing?!?!? Kashmeru has the upper hand and this was a serious nail-biter of a book. But the writing was just so good ;_;
Amethyst: Up until now, I *think* Jae was my favorite mage, because he’s just so wonderful and caring and just an overall swoon kind of guy. But Mayhara is such a force be reckoned with! Anyway, Akutake is rapidly approaching, the mages’ magic is being disrupted, and time is seriously running out. My favorite part about this book was the character development – we got so much backstory and insight. Really, really satisfying.
Diamond: THIS WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. I honestly thought I knew the direction it was going to go and then, boom, Dorothy blew my mind. I knew I’d be happy with the conclusion but THIS. Wow. It was just genuinely, serious, truly GOOD. It’s going to be really hard to let go of the characters, especially Jae and Mayhara. Thank you for such an incredible ride!!
“Empire of the Lotus” by Dorothy Dreyer, is a series that blends epic and urban fantasy with and an Asian themed apocalyptic world into one of the most original stories of the moment. Every new installment moves Mayhara’s story forward and her quest to save the newest reincarnation of the Lotus Empress; it deepens the story, adds new elements to the world, explore the characters’ evolution, showing new aspects of the plot.
“Diamond Mage” brings Mayhara’s epic story to an amazing and beautiful end. As Akutake arrives, the final battle against Kashmeru to save the Empress has to be fought. Still fighting against the disruption of magic the mages will have to find the location of the remaining arcane daggers, to avoid have them falling in Kashmeru’s hands has always been paramount; in order to succeed the mages will have to risk everything for a chance to stop Kashmeru. This final battle is more than a mere battle, it is in fact the fight that decides the war.
After six full instalment you may think, you know where this one is leading, and maybe you do, but you would never have expected the turns and twists that will eventually bring Mayhara and her friend to that final end. I said it before, but it worth repeating this is a beautiful end to this amazing series.
“Empire of the Lotus” is a beautiful epic tale that mixes Indian, and East Asian mythology, carefully crafted descriptions, and a great variety of characters, to create a wonderful fantasy world, with added layers of dystopian.
Epic finale to this amazing, magical series. After the possession of the amethyst elite and losing the sacred daggers, the elite mages are growing desperate to win back the upper hand. But the advantages gained are few and far between, and now that the elites have been divided by more than just interference of the dark mages, time is running out. In order to succeed, everyone has to do their best, and hope.. because it does not have to be enough. I am sad to see these characters go. This was an amazing series with a very unique feel, full of magical moments, impressive special abilities, and delicate balance between good and evil, between dark and light, and between love and raging emotions. There is so much this series can offer to a reader, and the deep connection to the characters is only the beginning. The ideals, the high moral standards, and the willingness to sacrifice oneself to save many give only a glimpse into the richness of the story. When I find the time one day, I will definitely reread the whole series.
What a ride and journey through this series. It is a stunning story and series that draws you in and doesn’t let go. I absolutely love Mayhara and how strong she is throughout the series. We learn more and more becoming attached to the different mages in each book. I have read through them and this last book had so many twists and turns in it. One minute you are cheering the next you are feeling all their pain and sorrow.
The descriptions were radiant in as such it felt like you were standing next to each person in the story. It is addictive in such a beautiful way. I absolutely adore Dorothy Dreyer’s writing. It has you engaged throughout the entire series making you feel like you are part of the story with such a huge investment in what is occurring. This story has a very epic ending that I absolutely am so glad I was able to read. I was completely surprised by the ending and completely amazed with the direction it took. A fantastic must read of a book and series.
We start where everything seems in a low place for the elite mages. They discovered that several are missing and have no way to determine where they are or how to get ahold of them. All the daggers have been stolen by the dark mages. The grimoire and scroll seem to be not in their possession or able to be used. Mayhara and Yuki wake up in the spirit world chased by Avi. As they travel they discover old friends and family to help them on their journey to the final battle. The rest of the group decide to head to New Delhi and hope the others will be led by fate to them. Karina makes a deal to save Penny and hopes that her gamble will pay off. This had a very satisfying conclusion to a series that swept me away quite unexpectedly. These are quick, enjoyable reads with paths that I wasn’t always expecting and glad for how we got to the end. I highly recommend this series.
The ending to the series isn’t fully predictable. This book has a lot of action, some decent wrap up of characters stories since there are a lot you grow to enjoy in this series. It’s honestly not my favorite of the series but the endings are sometimes like that, it’s hard to let go of characters and their lives you’ve read so much about.
Diamond Mage (Empire of the Lotus Book 7) by Dorothy Dreyer is an amazing last story of this series and it has a lot ups and downs that hold your interest. I highly recommend this story and whole series to everyone I loved it!!!!!!
