Redeeming Scrooge

An Opposites Attract Christmas Novella

It’s said opposites attract… and this steamy Christmastime novella has a couple who will test that theory--in a variety of ahem, ways.

Sophie McMannis owns a party planning company and lives for the holidays.

Grant Conrad, a card-carrying scrooge, is also a former all-star baseball player, womanizer, and her aunt’s boss. When he steals a kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve, he has no clue who she is. She knows exactly who he is and can’t compromise Aunt Kathryn’s job--no matter the full-body shiver he induces.
In between arguing over a stolen kiss (but was it really?), a box full of decorations, and the commercialization of the holiday, they fight against a mutual desire (not very convincingly neither saw coming.

Can Grant overcome his aversion to Christmas and convince Sophie that a womanizing scrooge can be redeemed? Anything is possible with the help of one meddling aunt, a pixie, and plenty of mistletoe.

I enjoyed Sophie and Grants story as well as the little Pixie who really gets Grant to see the true meaning of Christmas and helps get him out of his Scrooge tendencies. I hadn't realized this was part of a series but I was able to read it by itself and really liked it. Wonderfully written opposites attract Christmas story.

Sophie loves everything about Christmas and Grant dislikes everything to do with it and her aunt's boss. He doesn't know who she is but steals a kiss from her on New Year's Eve. They butt heads all the time and she knows all about him and his womanizing ways and is determined not to give in to what he makes her feel. Can he convince her to give them a chance?

Grant has not stopped thinking about the kiss he shared with Sophie two years ago, but his dismal attitude towards Christmas leaves them worlds apart. Sophie is determined to prove Grant wrong and the passion blazes as these two butt heads with Sophie determined not to give in to temptation. As Grant gets drawn into Sophie’s world, this scrooge can’t help but change his ways as Sophie along with the pixie in the cancer ward is going to show Grant what the Christmas spirit is all about.

Grant is the scrooge, he is not a lover of the holidays. Sophie loves all things holiday related. They steal a kiss at midnight New Years Eve. Can these opposites attract? This is a short warm and fuzy holiday story. I enjoyed the ups and downs of Sophie and Grant. I thought the book was humorous and well written. It kept me engaged and was an easy story to read

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. It is amazing that Grant and Sophie can have such a spark between them. Especially with so much against them or standing in their way on top of being opposites. She is a lover of all things Christmas. He is a true grinch wrapped up in a scrooge body. Their story has humor, drama, lust and finally love i enjoyed their short love story.

This was a very cute romance. Grant is definitely a Scrooge, but I love how Sophie slowly gets him to show his softer and caring side. I liked how the author slowly revealed how Grant's feelings for Sophie changed, and it was actually quite sweet. Their chemistry is super steamy hot and found this book had a good combination of fun, romance and sexiness all put together.

I rate this book 4.5 stars.

I am not much of a holiday book reader anymore with this year being doubly the fact. But since I have read this author I was in need of some cheer so thought why not. This is also a quick one so it should not be too much of a torture lol. One loves the holidays and that is Sophie so much she has a planning party company. Then there is Grant whom is a grouch or scrooge. Funny these two argue about a kiss. So Christmas will have to sprinkle its magic on them as we follow them through this one.

Cute story. Grant hated Christmas and Sophie loved Christmas. It's a well written story and the characters were believable. Now it's time for Sophie and Christmas spirit to sprinkle their magic. Enjoyable story. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Redeeming Scrooge by Debra Elise. Rescued by Love Book One. Sweet holiday romance with opposite attracting and fast paced drama. Sophie loves the holidays (all the holidays) and Grant does not. Together – they see the other side and we get to go along on their journey of budding love, acceptance, and a very Happy New Year. This can be read as a stand-alone and you won’t really feel like you’ve missed out of you haven’t read the entirety of the authors series before. Some characters do appear but not in a way you feel you have missed out anything important.
Sophie lives and breathes Christmas whilst Grant detests the season of good will.
Will Sophie continue to push him away despite her strong feelings and will Grant push his Scrooge like ways on Sophie despite wanting her too.
A really fun story with lots of Christmas cheer.

I really enjoyed this story. Sophie LOVED Christmas and Grant hated it. You discovered why Sophie loved it fairly early in the book but it took a little longer to find out why Grant hated it. Both had valid reasons but could they reach a compromise? I loved the little pixie in the story and how it made Grant see things differently. The couple had great chemistry and the whole story just clicked.

This was a charming love story. I loved how Sophie stood her way against Grant in the beginning, how she didn’t swoon over a former famous baseball player. How a little girl in the hospital would be such a crucial part of their relationship.
A must read!

I received an advanced copy of this story for an honest review.

This story definitely tugs at the emotions. How do you rationalize being heart-stoppingly attracted to a self described scrooge and known womanizer? Do you follow the passion and give in even if it is only one night and a notch on his belt? Do you hold out for more seeing as Christmas means everything to you?

There is a wonderful weaving in of bringing Christmas joy to a children's cancer ward at the local hospital, where both Sophie and Grant lean more about themselves and each other.

Good character development with definite attraction between the main characters. Being opposites puts them at odds. There is the witty banter and posturing.

I look forward to reading more in the series.

This is a new author for me, and damned if she didn't tug at my heartstrings and make me cry with the first book! Grant is the arrogant millionaire/womanizer who hates Christmas, but needs a date for an important night, Sophie is the self employed event planner who ends up being his date. I enjoyed this story a lot, Lily Ann stole the story, and I must admit I shed a few tears during this book, but my oh my this couple had chemistry. There's something about a child who has cancer and is in the hospital at Christmas that just touches my heart, this book does it for me. Well written, and I plan on reading more for this author.

ARC I received for honest review.

Christmas loving, party planner Sophie McMannis is set up with her aunt's boss on a last minute blind date as a favor. Grant Conrad is a former baseball all-star, player, and all around Christmas scrooge that tends to get what he wants and he wants Sophie. Sparks fly both in temper and attraction between them. Throw in an adorable pixie hiding under a bed in a pediatric cancer ward, lots of mistletoe, and a Santa suit needing a Santa to wear it made this a quick, sweet read for the holiday season.

I received a copy of this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Grant and Sophie are facing all the barriers that can be found - blind dates, meddling aunt, mischievious pixie, heart-rending cancer patient, mistletoe and cupid's arrow. This was an enchanting read, but then I didn't expect any different from Debra Elise. Looking forward to more from her and will definitely be recommending her to my friends.

This is the 1st book written by Debra Elise that I have read and I can honestly say that it will definitely not be the last. In fact I have just purchased her Idaho Outlaws box set and I can't wait to read more stories from characters that I was introduced to in this book. Ms Elise know how to grab only her readers from the 1st page the last with her amazing storytelling and world building. Her characters are so delightfully flawed that you can't help cheer for their happily ever after. Grant and Sophie's story is one of thinking that you have everything you could want in live then finding out that you don't even come close to things that are important. This story has everything that you could want: comedy, drama, tears and of course hot romance. This is the 1st book in the 1st book in the Rescued by Love Series and you will definitely be sorry if you miss it!

excellent holiday grumpy/sunshine story

This book far exceeded my expectations. It’s the first I’ve read by this author and I’m interested in reading more now for sure. Sophie is a party planner and loves the holidays. Grant is a wealthy playboy, her aunt’s boss, and a self described Scrooge. She has no interest in meeting him. Yet when they finally meet, the chemistry hits them both. I enjoyed reading about them both fighting their feelings but then overcoming their differences with compassion and understanding. There is sweetness and cuteness overload from a young cancer patient in the children’s hospital and seeing her role in thawing Grant’s heart and bringing Sophie and Grant together. I also liked the heat level. They had strong chemistry but didn’t have a bedroom scene until closer to the end. I’ve read a few books lately where there are too many explicit scenes and it just gets boring after a while when there’s not enough plot in between.

This was a second change holiday themed romance.

Sophie knows the score with men like Grant, so she stays clear, especially after getting too close at a New Years Eve party. But then her aunt (his assistant) offers her as his last minute date for an event.

These two were clearly make for each other and have an instant attraction, but his anti-commitment and scrooge attitude put her right off.

Sophie did get a bit annoying with her constant need to convert him to the jolly season, but he does a good job of showing her that his womanising ways are over.

An enjoyable easy read.

* holiday romance
* second chance
* bah humbug male

Grant prefers not to celebrate the holidays, Sophia is all things festive. When a kiss a midnight has Grant seeing things differently, Sophia can only stand back in the shadows. This fast holiday story will warm your heart and bring laughter and smile to your face, as Grant and Sophia navigate through to their HEA.

Sophie is so sweet and loving and kind. She is community and charity focused and driven for her business to succeed. I love her attitude and her outlook on life and her ability to turn her past around. Aunt Kate is a sweet secondary character who adds value to the story. Grant is business oriented and a hurtful past that he allows to color his life, unlike Sophie. He is an arrogant jerk who grows and learns through out this journey and ends up melting you as you begin to love him.

Short, sweet novella that I wish would have been longer. There we’re parts that felt rushed to me due to its novella status. It has so much potential but fell short. Overall I did enjoy the characters and the story. I loved getting to see Grant’s soft side escpecially with Pixie(if you know you know).

Grant the scrooge

Grant is a scrooge that has fallen for Sophie a Christmas enthusiast. After a quick kiss he's in pursuit of her. Sophie has feelings too but him being a scrooge keeps him at bay.

Can they come together and resolve their issues?

I enjoyed this read 📚!
