This was beautiful done and is now one of my favorite stories! Yet, the story ended so abruptly, that I am not sure what happens to the characters.

My rating: 3/5
Hero: 3/5
Heroine: 4/5
POV: first person
Angst level: 2/5
Steam level: 1/5
Genre: enemies to lovers (but more like just enemies, there’s not much love involved), high school bully
Trigger/Taboo: virgin h

Ella & her dad move to North Carolina because of her dad’s job. Ella meets her new neighbour Grayson & she’s hooked. They have a good bond but when school starts, she finds out Grayson’s a popular kid & he acts like he doesn’t know her. Ella gets bullied by him & his football squad.

Things I liked:
-I liked Ella really, although she got played every single time, you’d think she’d learned her lesson after the first time but no, she’s stupid and AF.

Things I didn’t like:
-Ella’s dad, I wish I could punch his face. He’s a fucking dick. He’s always working & not giving a fuck about Ella or whatsoever. He lost his wife early so you’d think he has this strong bond with Ella but he’s treating her like a maid or something.

My opinion: *CAN CONTAIN SPOILERS*
I got this prequel free with bookfunnel & I’m glad about it because I’m a little disappointed. I know it’s a prequel but the ending was complete trash. I was so confused about it. I really couldn’t stand Grayson, he was such a dick to Ella (for no reason) & he only was nice & sweet to her when they were alone. I know it’s the purpose of the story & I know this is the way it had to be but for some reason I didn’t like it. I was in complete shock after Ella gave her v card to him after being drugged by someone else & HE KNEW ABOUT IT BUT DIDN’T TELL HER!! (He tried to he said but he could’ve just say something like ‘I heard this was going to happen, please keep your eyes open’ or something but no.. He just let it happen & then she gave her v card to him because he was super sweet to her this 3 times over the last 2 years. 🙄
What also REALLY bothered me was the timeline, or more the lacking of it. There’s no real timeline, ghe chapter starts & it’s like they’re 2 months later without interacting or something happening or mentioning. & suddenly it’s 2 years later & BOOM, nothing’s changed AT ALL. I found this a little surreal but maybe that’s just me..

{Contemporary Academy Romance; M/F; Single POV}

Trigger Warnings:
— Attempted Date Rape [drugged]
— First-time sex
— Mild bullying

THE ROMANCE ❤️:
I love single POV romances, and this is why. Ella constantly guesses the motivations of her next-door neighbor and any other guy who approaches her. But without any true romantic relationships in her past, she is a bit naive.

Grayson is a football star at the local high school and he acts aloof and tears her down emotionally when in the presence of other players. Alone, though, he turns sweet and attentive. Personally, I think he is toxic and should be avoided after the first or second time, but Ella just can’t help herself. She turns stupid with desire every time he is nearby.

—One hot scene
—Definitely consensual; she controls the pace.

THE PLOT:

It’s pretty standard romance, with no real plot twists. I am glad the story is short, because I started to get bored. I read a lot, so I need a bit of flare or drama. The most exciting part is a developing subplot with Ella’s dad. He is always ‘on trips.’ I have a suspicion about this, but don’t want to spoil anything accidentally, since I have yet to read book 1.

I like Ella. She’s a self-starter living off her own income and also supporting her dad with chores. I like the writing style, too. I am on the fence about reading more, though.
