A Teenager's Guide to Investing in the Stock Market: Invest Hard Now, Play Hard Later

Rate this book
Did you know that you can become a millionaire just by investing the money you make from delivering pizzas one night per week? In fact, any amount of money you invest in the stock market today will grow to a much larger sum later—the key is starting now! The average American waits until age thirty-one to begin saving and investing for retirement, and they end up 2.5 million dollars poorer because of it.

In A Teenager’s Guide to Investing in the Stock Market, early-investor Luke Villermin breaks down the Wall Street lingo, levels the playing field, and serves up seven chapters to help young investors obtain:

- Inspiration to start saving and investing for retirement today
- Confidence in how the stock market operates and how to choose investments
- A step-by-step road map to opening an online account, purchasing stock, and putting money to work

If you start investing early enough, you only need to save and invest $125 per month to become a millionaire. Buckle up for the most “adult” thing you have accomplished since you passed your driver’s ed test. There is so much to lose by not starting ASAP.

If you invest hard now, you will truly be able to play hard later.

My son and I read this book together while I convalesced this year in the hospital. My husband helped him set up a Charles Schwab account. And now that I’m out of the hospital, Benny is finally going to make some stock picks!

This book opened such huge possibilities to his 13-year-old strategic and mathematical mind, which is already so good at recalling soccer players’ stats and forecasting how they will work in combination with each other to produce wins or losses. He had asked for more investing books for Christmas, and a special journal to help him track the investments he makes now.

And all of it started with this super accessible book!

Super short book, complete bare fundamentals of stock market and vocabulary. Nothing wrong with that but if you've done 10 minutes of your own research you probably know everything in this book. This is NOT a get rich book nor does it outline any path or really give any realistic scenarios of building large amounts of wealth. Purely a beginner introduction to the stock market. If you want strategies and in depth information pick a different book.

FIRST OF ALL I'M NOT A TEEN
I decide to read this book with thoughts that it will be like Investment for the dummies. But it wasn't.
I even made some conspectus!
So why only 3 stars&
-1 for size, I think.. I really know that for teens and dummies I would like to see more detailed info about how to work with interface of different brokerage, more statistic info, so in perspective it can make this book more size of book then manual.
-2 book started with language kinds TV commercials for soccer player school team, and ended in professional investment vocabulary. It was hard to jumping.
What I can say in general? I did not waste my time, because i didn't know about investment at all. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't something what I can named as good

I really enjoyed this book! The book provides a large amount of important vocabulary with easy to understand descriptions. This book excels at giving examples of different topics such as retirement accounts and the power that they hold. I learned a lot about the differences between certain types of funds and highly recommend this book to others; however, one thing to critique on is the depth that the book provides. It is very good if you need a base layer understanding but if you already know a lot about investing it might be wise to look for more deeper books. Great read!

A nice, concise book to help, and more importantly, motivate teenagers to start investing at a young age in a relatively safe and easy way. Grabs their attention early by explaining the power of compounding returns, and briefly touches on topics such as diversification, tax advantaged accounts, fees, and common pitfalls of investing. Then it goes into how to setup an account and get started, followed by recommended reading afterwards.

Great Short Read If You’re New To Investng

If you’re entirely new to the concept of investing, this is a good read to dip into it. Although it doesn’t cover in super much detail about exactly what to do, it gives enough of a foundation to get started. The books the author also recommends in the last chapter are great follow up books to read that will go into much more detail. All in all, this book is great value for both its time and money.

Easy to learn investing

I bought this book to help teach my nephews about investing. I bought them custodial IRAs so we can invest together, and I chose this book to help them make their own choices. It's perfect.

A nice, easy read. Very interesting and breaks down financial planning into more approachable concepts. Wish this was around when I was a teen.
