Axel Silverblade, alongside his companions, successfully managed to save Skytown from the forces of the Ender King. But new troubles rest on the horizon. Darkmist has vanished, abducted by their enemies. In order to survive, Axel and Caitlyn will have to rely on the generosity of the pirate Jim Cook. But can he be trusted? Meanwhile, new threats are rising. A prison ship abducting Minecraftians slowly advances toward Dinnertown, one of the few remaining bastions of people. Darkmist is supposedly on-board, but the only way inside involves a trip to the Nether, Minecraft’s most dangerous realm. And even then, a dark secret awaits them within the prison ship. A horrible truth that will turn friend against friend, and might very well bring an end to Axel and his friends. Can they overcome the horrors of the Ender King? Or will they fall like thousands of other heroes before them?
I used this as a read aloud in homeschool with my Minecrafts obsessed kiddos. We have read other books by this author and have loved them. This book was just as well done. There is the hero (who doesn't necessarily see himself as hero material) and all his trials and tribulations. We loved the quest like narrative and that the hero of course battles all obstacles in his way. Definitely a feel good book that is great for a bonding opportunity for kids and parents.
I read this book with my nephew who is a huge fan of minecraft. He loved the book. I thought it was adorable and the characters were cute. I even laughed a few times. Who doesn't love lady grey??
