Great sequel

Book two is a great sequel in this series, I definitely teared up towards the end and wasn’t thrilled with a certain “situation” no spoilers! But it was good and I’ll keep an eye out for more from this author.

Wow, I am not sure what to think. The story was engaging and kept me reading just like the first book. Now, that being said this one had a twist and turn I did not expect. It freaking made me cry. Rude! 😜 If you like paranormal fantasy, get the first book and this, and start reading and don’t stop until you are done. The characters are lovable and some even change for the better. I loved it, even though it made me emotional and I truly hope, there is another one on the horizon about Jo, her family, friends, and of course about the love of her life.

A daring adventure!
This book was a lot of fun! Intriguing new characters come into play and we travel to Mexico, seeing how Jo handles even more magical danger. There were some parts that moved too quickly, but also a lot of powerful emotions. I enjoyed the read!

Marked in Roll is the second book in Whitfield's Hidden In Roll series about Jo Baker, a teenage witch from Roll, Arizona. After the events of the first book, she believes a certain witch hunter to be dead. She and her friends take a trip to Mexico. There she discovers that she and her boyfriend are in danger from hunters out for revenge, including Gabriel, who is not dead after all.

As in the first book, Jo is an excellent protagonist. She is plucky and likeable, with believable flaws and vulnerabilities. The fantasy from the first book is expanded on, as her powers have grown, and it is great fun watching her do the impossible. The plot is excellent, and contains twists that I certainly never expected, especially toward the ending.

This could have used tighter editing. Too many insignificant details are included, and information unnecessarily repeated. Sometimes this adds to the realism, but it also slows down the pace, and occasionally even weakens the suspense.

Yet this book engaged me throughout, and that is what is most important. I'm happy to be along this journey, and I will definitely be on board for the third book, Found in Roll.

Marked in Roll is a brilliant second book of the Hidden in Roll trilogy, following the events that occurred in the first instalment.

Jo is as spunky and fun as she always was, but she struggles somewhat with all the horrors that have happened since she discovered she was a witch. When she is invited to a trip down to Mexico, she jumps at the opportunity for a getaway, along with Mary and Logan.

But things don't always go to plan. There are witches and hunters still out there, not in the least in Mexico. Old enemies come back to haunt them, placing not only weight on Jo's shoulders, but also an immense, volatile burden upon Logan.

This is a story of friendship, love, and forgiveness, showcasing the best and the worst in young lovers and what it means to not always know everything. They do their best, and their struggles are heartfelt.

There are twists in this story I never expected, and I applaud the author for being so daring. And that ending left me wanting more! Luckily, there's a third book waiting for me!

Emotional Rollercoaster

I'm torn! I loved the book, but I didn't love everything involved in the book. I'm not sure where the story will go from here, but I'm definitely gonna read on to find out. My heart hurts after finishing the 2nd book of this exciting series. I have fallen in love with the idea Jo and Logan together, so I'll have to keep reading to try and resolve this new heartache. Stephanie knows how to keep us hooked and coming back for more.

Marked in Roll continues the story of Josephine Barker. It's written in much the same vein as the first book and again the story is fantastic. This story had more twists and turns than the first, and there is a shock coming! I even shed a tear or two. Suffice it to say that if you enjoyed book 1 you'll enjoy book 2.
