Reminiscent of the Boxcar Children and Nancy Drew books I read growing up. Set in modern day Outer Banks, this book has me wanting to go back to favorite barrier islands and see what mysteries I could dig up. This book is perfect for those pre-teen/young teen readers. I'm looking forward to reading more books in the Fishwrap Mysteries Series

The Parker House is a cute beach town book for upper elementary/middle school kids. I believe this is the author's first publication. I enjoyed the setting of the Outer Banks, it's a fun/harmless little mystery, and the ending was cute and applaudable.

There are a few instances where, as a mother, I think to myself, "Nope. Not a chance I'd let my kid get away with that; unrealistic." It is, however, a work of fiction. At times, there are some scenes that seem underdeveloped, but the intended audience may not feel the same way. There are also a few minute typos, but overall, I enjoyed reading the story with my daughter.

And Fun fact: the author uses her children's names as some of the characters...How fun is that? Follow her @outerbanksmom for more updates on the North Carolina coastal town.

This is such a fun book to read together as a family! My 9 year old LOVED the stories that were shared and my 5 year old enjoyed it as well. They were always excited to find out what Joey and his friends were up to next in every new chapter. As avid Outer Banks vacationers it was fun to follow along and recognize some of the local spots mentioned throughout the book that we have visited! It was a great story that kept all intrigued and can’t wait for book two to come out!!

This book was a lot of fun to read. Great characters and relationships. The mystery was intriguing and it was fun to read about some real life local restaurants and locations as well as some Outer Banks lore.

A quick read in comparison. A "couldn't put it down" mystery.
The personalities can out out quick and complete, typical teens to which we can all relate.
Would love to read more from Audra.
