When Ryha wakes up twenty years in the past, she can't help but feel grateful. And she doesn't waste her time questioning how she time traveled back to Y2K either. All she wants is to secure her future husband's affections, and cement a stronger foundation for their marriage.
What she didn't expect is her brother's attractive roommate; Xavier, and the way his touch elicits her body's most primitive response. He stirs emotions within her that she never knew existed, but she knows they can never be together. She already has a husband, didn't she?
Meets a man who could give her the future she always wanted...
Xavier had always nurtured a secret crush on his roommate's sister, but he knew Ryha was completely off limits. After becoming privy of Ryha's secret, Xavier will stop at nothing to help her—to have her—even though she is technically married to another man.
A man Xavier believes is not worthy of her. Xavier knows he isn't perfect (and he doesn't want to be), but he knows Ryha is perfect for him and he is determined to win her heart.
Will she be daring enough to accept her second chance at happiness and love?
When Niomie Roland isn't dreaming up sexy heroes and feisty heroines, she can be found in her kitchen cooking a concoction for her husband (that she won't eat herself), shopping online or watching YouTube videos.
I was flying through these pages. The story was beautiful and the romance was so sweet that I overlooked the frustration I felt with the heroine, Rhya. She gets the opportunity to go back twenty years and believes that it's to make her future husband (who dumped her so fiercely and cold at the beginning that it was sad and comical at the same time) love her enough not to leave her again. Re-living 2000 with her future knowledge, she is able to save a few lives, come into some realizations, and fall in love with "the wrong man". I had some questions here and there, but it was nothing that would completely take me out of the story. It's a solid 4.5 star story.
This was my first read by this author. I loved how she executed the story revealing each delicious tidbit where it was needed. The way she described the emotions of Ryha's self inadequacies in her marriage to Dexter was heartbreaking and desperate. Xavier so wanted forgiveness for what happened to his family made my heart just go out to him. He was so sweet and in desperate need to prove his self-worth.
Ryha's parents were self-absorbed and bourgie to know what was really best for their daughter. They could not see through Dexter's scheming. I wanted to slap her mother when she threatened Ryha. But going back in time, when she was in her 25-year-old life through the maturity of a 45-year-old mind, she finally found her self-worth and stood up for herself finally refusing to be molded into someone else's agenda. With the idea of doing better for Dexter finally shattering into pieces, she realizes it was Xavier that she was coming back in time for. In doing so, she not only saved him but others with the knowledge she had from the future like a butterfly effect, it radiated out to others. In the end, Dexter got just what he deserved.
The Pink Lady did her job and she did it well. I wonder if the next tapestry scarf she's starting is for Monica and Ryha's brother Julian? I would love to read about them too. I'm just glad that Xavier turned himself around and did not give up on Ryha. They were destined to be together from that first kiss on New Year's Eve 1999. They had such an erotic chemistry every time they touched. I'm glad they had the chance to move that hot energy on to their HEA. Ryha finally got her most wanted desire, to be loved, respected, and most of all a family.
Niomie Roland is fastly becoming one of those one click authors. I really enjoyed the story of Ryha and Xavier and their unconventional second chance of life and love. On Ryha's 45th birthday she finds her then husband wanting out of their marriage. With no hope or children she finds herself thinking what if she had a chance to do things differently. In enters the Pink Lady with a crazy proposition to give her that second chance and create a new path. Determined to get it right her soon to be future ex Dexter, Xavier has other plans. He shows her what she really needs is someone her truly loves her. Again I enjoyed this story both characters were great and they both healed one another in such a huge way that it put them both on a new path. I hope to read Julian and Monica story and I also hope to see more Pink Lady and the couples she weaves together.
Rhya had the one thing that most of us wish we had. A do-over, a second chance to find happiness when your present is filled with pain and sadness. With that being said, Xavier and Rhya set out tighter to right some wrongs, to grow and learn from each other, and without knowing, Xavier has a second chance as well. Great story.
I was pleasantly by how much I enjoyed reading this book. That's no slight against the author, only that I've started a few recently that I couldn't bear to finish and had all but given up. One, I deleted to make room for this one. I try to finish what I started but I just couldn't.
This had the right amount of drama and conflict - nothing too over the top. The main character wasn't over the top with negative emotions. The author didn't make her ex a complete monster in order to justify why she no longer wanted to be with him. He was a narcissist, opportunistic jerk no doubt but not a monster. The love interest is the right amount of broken (if that's a thing). Not so much that he's brooding and mistreats her. Just enough for interesting character development. He was just the right amount of hero. He didn't need to save her from herself, the world or life in general but offered her everything she never knew she wanted and needed.
I had a ton more but my first attempt didn't post and its difficult to be that eloquent twice, lol. All in all, I believed each and every one of these characters. From the main characters all the way down to our brief encounter with Angela. I think that's what I most enjoyed about reading this book. Now off to find/read other offerings.
WMWT is a clever premise that I imagine many people "knowing what they know now" wish they had the chance to experience. I definitely wish I could go back in time and make different choices and help others do the same for better outcomes. Although I got pretty annoyed at how long it took Ryha to realize how badly Dexter treated her and that their marriage wasn't worth fighting for. But she eventually figured it out. Enjoyed the story overall.
*Spoiler alert* I loved the story! It started out a bit slow and at times I wanted to slap Rhya but overall I am beyond satisfied. I enjoyed how the story included 2020 aspects: covid-19, President Trump, amazon, google, etc. I also loved that this story made you question how you would live if you could redo the last 20 years of your life? All the signs that you may have overlooked from people who are toxic, all the ways you dimmed your own life to suit a man or make your parents happy, the nice guy that you rejected bc he didn't fit your dream guy specifications. I think this book hit so hard because parts of it are like reliving parts of my youth. I nearly cried when I read about how hard Xaviers life was and all the things he overcame. I ended up weeping tears of joy at their happy ending. I also wanted to high five Ryha for writing herself a note of things to remember in the future. TOTAL GENIUS MOMENT!! However, the end did make me wonder if Dexter was somehow responsible for Rhya's parents death. He seemed sick enough to do it!

We first meet our heroine Ryha at the start of the pandemic when Dexter, her husband of twenty years walks out on her to go live with his mistress and child, the child Ryha was not able to give him. Rhya loves him and is convinced that if she could only go back in time he would remember why he loved her and they could have a second chance. By some strange magic she gets to go back twenty years prior. She is all set for her second chance with Dexter but that was before she took a real look at her older brother’s friend and roommate, Xavier. Suddenly, the more time she sends in Dexter’s company the more she wonders what she ever saw in him. Is her old love worth fighting for or should she give in to the new? I love a good time travel romance and this book was it. The characters were real and likeable and the story quite unique. I loved it.

When I read books I look for something in the story to pull me in and hold me. The line in the book "Did everyone look back on their lives with regret? Did everyone wish they could get a do-over?" says it all. I love time travel stories and this one did not disappoint. I felt Rhya's pain of her marriage falling apart but part of me wanted better for her. And as I read the story I found I wanted better for her brother, his friend and her friend. The twist and turns of the characters in the story kept me glued to the book as I read page after page of what would happen next. Questions of "what next" was always forefront in my mind. This is a good book to read and imagine a different world in this time of pandemic news. - I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had been in a reading slump as of late and I really couldn't find a story that captivated me until I found this story. I was hooked from the first page and could barely handle my duties for wanting to bask in the growing love of Xavier and Ryha. You will want to read this book.
Great book and concept of time travel to find your true mate and not the one your parents approved. We all need a Pink Lady and a magic wand for that one!Dexter was a sorry excuse for a man and by going to his apartment, during her time travel life, Ryha discovered that he had been cheating on her, even prior to their real time marriage, by going to his apartment. He had always been with Angela, his now baby mama. She found her backbone and fired him on the spot. Returning to to her place, Xavier was there waiting to show her what he had purchased. A cottage for them. They ended up expanding the cottage to seven bedrooms for them and their six children. They had been together over twenty years. Pink Lady erased Ryha’s memory of the time travel but before she did Ryha was able to write down her investment list: Google, Amazon, Tesla.

So this book wasn’t bad. But it was just a rework of the film Something New. Black woman from a wealthy family. Close relationship with her baby brother. Falls for a white landscaper. Realizes the guy her brother and parents want her with is only perfect on paper. It’s like the author watched the movie and thought what if, then threw the time travel spin on it and produced this. It is so similar! The time travel part was original but the plot wasn’t. Also Ryha was delusional about Dexter for about 90% of the book. He cheated, had a baby on the side, and left her in the future and she still wanted him back. Then when she goes back he dictates how she should dress, who she should talk to, belittled her and blamed her for his shortcomings and she still wanted to be with him.

The premise for this time travelling story is a wife Ryka gets dumped by her husband of 20 years for a younger woman in a cold and callous manner. She ends up travelling back in time to before they get married and she is hell bent on a do over even though Dexter is jerk then as he is in the future. She has the chance of the love of her life with Xavier but she nearly sabotaged her future. She annoyed me the whole book through, Dexter showed her who he was , she had the the gift of foresight, but she was determined to hang onto Dexter. Glad she came to her senses.

Charming, sweet & magical. A perfect modern-day fairytale.
I don't want to spoil it so I'll try to choose my words carefully. This is the story of a 45-year-old woman who gets a second chance at a happily ever after... and 25-year-old man who learns to believe in the possibility of happily ever after for himself, too. There's twists, turns, more than a bit of adventure, & a whole lot of humor and heart. If you could go back, what would you change? And what would change you? Magical in more ways than the obvious.
I really liked this book...but Rya for most of the book was a snobby condescending B! I mean i get it over the years Dexter had molded her to just be a quiet trophy. I didn't like Dexter and I was glad when everyone in her family quit thinking he would be a good match cause he was 'good' with the business. Rya finally got her head out of her butt near the end, but everything turned out for the best in the end. I am a little curious about what happened between her brother and monica..... New book soon? Lol
Ryha thought she was married to who she thought was the love of her life until he drops a bomb on her. She still believes there is a chance to repair things so when she meets a strange lady and is offered the opportunity to start over she accepts. Her eyes are opened to a side of her life she wasn’t aware of and saw things in a whole new light.

Ryha is faced with a choice. She is catapulted back in time 20 years and she is faced with a decision, set things in place to fix her current relationship with her now husband, who isn’t the prince she wants to believe he is, or take another course and explore a relationship she never saw coming with her brother’s roommate Xavier. This is not your typical time travel romance.
Ryha and Xavier had really good chemistry. Good read.
This was a great story to read. The start of the story was difficult - I hated how controlled the heroine was and how she still wanted her husband despite him being a douche bag. But as the heroine came into herself, the more I started to like her. The hero I liked from the beginning. I felt his pain with the loan situation and his family's death. I loved how the writer brought these two together and nurtured their relationship. Definitely a 5 star read.
This wasn't the same old time travel book. This one was way better than I've ever read. It was great to read a book that wasn't cookie cutter. This story had the right balance of Rhya needing something more. Something hers. I enjoyed this one.

I will be honest I was hesitant to read this story. I kept returning it until I finally gave it a shot. It was so good I read it in a night. I loved how the father and Julian supported her without hesitation, the mother left much to be desired. Dexter was an ass and Xavier, oh he has my heart. He is a man's man. Such a sweet story.
Nice twist from the norm. Now Rhya did get on my last nerves with her stubbornly resolve to win Dexter’s love but after 20 years , she can have that. Thankfully, she came to her senses. The chemistry between her and Xavier were out of this world. It was definitely a good book set at a nice pace pace with likable characters.
Excellent story told in a unique way and captured my attention from becoming to end! Xavier had me rooting for him from the start! Ryha had me on the fence but eventually I grew to !ike her. Their union was a beautiful thing of unconditional love and family. Kudos to The Pink Lady!!!!
This was a great book. I sure do wish we could go back In time and correct the path we took. I’m so glad she figured out the first path she took wasn’t the path she was supposed to be on.
