Some readers run at Sarah with hugs and kisses, while others shoot daggers at her for killing their favourite character off. Sarah can only apologise and say, "The story made me do it..."
Sarah Michelle Lynch is a former journalist who wrote a trilogy of science fiction novels while on maternity leave. In 2012 she took a deep breath and published the "Ravage Trilogy" which was later re-edited and became the UNITY novels. Sarah is lucky that some readers have been with her since the very beginning and have read all the different books she’s written.
It quickly became clear from reader response that Sarah has a flair for penning erotic scenes and so, Sarah took inspiration from real-life people around her and wrote "A Fine Profession", a compelling and compassionate read. At book signings readers often confess in a whisper that they’ve read this book – Sarah’s first erotic novel – and sometimes, readers have even admitted it’s their personal favourite.
Sarah loves nothing more than to put her feet up with a book and be consumed by a story, so in turn, she endeavours to give you all this and more.
After reading the first book (Unbind) I desperately needed answers. What I got from this book was so much more!
For anyone going into this book or starting the series I urge you to make sure that you take your time reading them. They are books that need to be absorbed and digested. As a reader I had to make sure that I was focused completely on this book.
Unfurl is the concluding part to Cai and Chloe's story. This story is unique in its twists and turns, its dark and meaningful. Just as we uncover one lie we are faced with others until your not sure what is real and what isn't.
Like I said you need time to digest the story.
When Cai's Aunt passes away Chloe is shocked that Cai does not show more emotion for the woman that raised him. What unfurls are secrets and lies that have been haunting Cai, nothing is exactly what it seems.
What I love about Chloe is what a strong woman she is. Having her own horrid past she is able to support Cai and help him to fight his demons. She does what she thinks is right, even if it is to go behind Cai's back.
There is a deep connection between Chloe and Cai and despite learning some horrifying truths Chloe still stands by her man and offers him a release and a way to deal with his past head on so that they can truly start living their lives together.
An amazing read that I will have to revisit at a later date to reabsorb everything.
Cai and Chloe are trying to live as normal life as possible. All that changes when Cai's past comes back to haunt him...again. When Jennifer dies, Chloe is shocked that Cai doesn’t care that she’s dead. What Chloe doesn’t know is Cai has been waiting for when it would happen. Can Chloe help Cai deal with his past and all the damage between the two families? Cai must find a way to deal with his past without losing Chloe. Is Chloe strong enough to help Cai deal with his past?
This dark romance shows how as much as you want to protect the ones you love; you can't. Cai must trust Chloe to help him fight the demons that won't go away. But are the lies and deceit going to be too much for Chloe to handle? I thought I couldn't love this series anymore after I read Unbind, but once I was finished with Unfurl I changed my mind. This series is a MUST READ!
We finally have the ending to Chloe and Cai's story and I promise you it’s not one to be missed. If you thought that Unbind had crazy secrets, Unfurl takes it one step farther. All the mystery of Cai's past comes together and I literally screamed when 2 big reveals happened. Sarah Michelle does a beautiful job tying up all loose ends from Unbind. Again, she is so descriptive with her writing that you can literally see this all happening in your head. The characters are more relatable than ever.
I truly hope you give them a chance; I promise you that you will not be disappointed!!
This book isn't a 5. But it's not a 4. The authors use of the exclamation point was over done, and some of the dialogue was little off for me as an American. I've never heard the term " he really fucks me off" from an American but maybe I'm not "New York" enough. But the answers you get from this book as opposed to the first one make it totally worth it. That's really all the info I can give. I don't want to spoil anything. Just know it's worth it to stick through it to the end. That is all.
Unfurl is a story about Chloe, Cai, and Jennifer/Claudia.
Cai and Chloe is married with children and has moved back to London. When they lives is up in turmoil over his aunt/mother lies and secrets they have to deal with her past coming back. Jennifer is scared that all her secrets will get her loved ones killed and have to find a way to bring it all out in the open. No secret dies in this story of unfurl.
A fantastic but twisting and turning sequel to Unbind! Would agree with the other reviews that you do need to read the first book before attempting this. Still in love with the glorious but haunted Cai and Chloe is just the right heroine for this hero. No spoilers here so just give the two books a read in this series!! You will be left amazed by the way everything slots into place or does it??
*A Copy of this Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*
I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Unbind’ the first in the Sub Rosa trilogy, and it is essential that you read that before ‘Unfurl’. I could only give four stars to this one as you had to really concentrate to follow what was happening with characters both in love and suffering various psychiatric disorders between them. I also dislike the style of writing where events are described out of chronological order for no good reason (that I could discern)This was another case of having to concentrate or get lost in following the story. The author has, however, lost none of her descriptive ability and you will visualise each of the characters, including their psychiatric disorders which were well researched with no trouble. However, you may not like them as much as with book one.
