She wants to be an independent badass woman. He’s the fireman lovestruck by her feisty attitude and goddess-like curves. One embarrassing rescue will change everything.
Blake When we take the call to rescue a damsel in distress, I’ve got no idea that my life is about to change. As soon as I see the curvy goddess standing on the roof, I know she’s the one for me. She’s fiery as hell and fiercely independent with curves that are driving me crazy. She says she doesn’t need rescuing, but I’ll do anything to be her hero, if only she’ll let me.
Everly I’ve finally moved into my very own apartment and found the independence I’ve been craving. But getting stuck on the roof is not the badass maneuver I was planning. I’m not going to go gooey over some guy just because he rescues me and is wearing a fireman’s uniform, only my heart and my body seem to have other ideas. But is he worth giving up my independence for?
Do you love firefighter romance books? Then the Kings of Fire series is for you! Smoking hot tales of insta-love, featuring brave heroes and sassy heroines that will melt your heart.
Blake is book one in the Kings of Fire series. Each book is a standalone, no cliff-hangers and always with a happily ever after.
I think the heroine spoke to my desire for independence and I loved that she wanted that for herself. But I was annoyed with how nosy the neighborhood was, how embarrassed and red-faced she was and how the hero didn’t accept her multiple turn downs. I actually WANTED her to be on her own for a while longer.
I really enjoy it when on of the main characters is curvy. It’s nice to see a confident and strong female lead who doesn’t look like everyone else. I thought this was pretty good and easy to digest. Our main characters were very interesting but I wish we got to spend more time with them. That’s the one thing I really don’t like about novellas is that they’re way too short for me sometimes. I just wish this one was longer.
She is a goddess .... who is his damsel in distress!
Blake is the first book in the Kings of Fire series and it introduces the reader to the Kings Country Fire department and several of the firemen. This book is about Blake and Blake is a romantic at heart who loves to play his guitar, with his idea of classic songs being from the 90's Everly is twenty-two years old and has just moved into her own apartment for the first time. It may only be a fourth floor studio but it is all her's and she is excited, as she is not a badass independent woman. Everly had stayed at home for several years to help her mother out with her younger siblings after their father died. But when the youngest turned fourteen she knew it was time to have her own space. After the movers left Everly was hot so she opened the window to catch the breeze. This apartment does not have a balcony but it does have a roof outside the window and she decides to climb out and catch more of the breeze to cool down. Well there is one slight problem in that the window slide back down and she was not able to open it up again....so she is stuck up on the roof. Luckily a man comes out onto his balcony directly below and before you know it they are talking and he is phoning the fire department to get her down. The fire house gets the call and it is Blake's turn to take the "non-fire" rescue call. When Blake sees Everly for the first time he is at a loss for words as he knows immediately that he wants to get to know her. What happens next you will have to read for yourself but I will say that it is funny, sweet, sexy and romantic. This is a well written, funny and very entertaining story. I loved the characters as both Everly and Blake are the type of people you would want as your close friends. This is another RECOMMEND READ by Sadie King. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Finally Everly is out on her own decides to open the window for fresh air but then gets a better idea to go out the window on the roof. After moving she was hot! Once outside she's cooling off. Then the window closes while she's outside. Now she stuck outside so she yells down to someone who then calls the fire company She is mortified. She can't believe the fire company is coming. The firefighter is on his way up the ladder that she is NOT going down. Once Blake sees her he can't believe her smart whit and charm plus she's beautiful. He explains she needs to go down the ladder and she tells him she's NOT going. So what's he do but pick her up and throws her over his shoulder but that is when he smacks her butt and realizes why she doesn't want to go down. He yells down to the other guys clear the area so know one sees her lady bits cause they are for his eyes only. He asks her out on a date but she says no. He doesn't push it till a couple days later he sings to her. A few days pass and she goes to him and takes him up on his offer but instead invites him over. She has made dinner, set it up where they first met and then she tells him that she's not wearing any underwear so he can get to her lady bits very quick. That's all she wrote, the rest is history. Everyone knows the rule about never getting caught in an accident without clean underwear. Well, for Everly that is not the case. It would’ve helped if that were true. But being so excited being independent and not securing the window of her new apartment has led her into meeting Blake the firemen. Besides, put aside, Everly wants to be independent and yet she’s attracted to Blake. So as Blake is definitely determined to make it her his woman, he also has to make sure that she has some type of dignity when he fireman carries her down the ladder to safety. From there it’s a short story and anybody’s guess on how this is going to evolve without a cliffhanger. Just funny

This story sure did have a lot of chuckles. Everly, the oldest of five kids, finally was able to move into her first apartment. Her father passed, her mom was working to support the family, Everly stepped up to take care of the kids. This was her first time being alone. Her first day she climbs out on the roof to enjoy the breeze. The window blew shut. The handyman called the fire department. In comes Blake to save the day. It's so funny, you'll have to read it to believe it. Had a great time reading this book. Written by Cindy :)
Everly just moved into her first apartment, and on her own for the first time. She gets stuck on the roof and has to get rescued by the fire department. When they show up Blake is sent to save and learns a very interesting detail. After they get down he tries to ask her and she refuses him twice. Will he make her see she is meant for him? Will she tell him why she needs her independence? A short, sweet, romantic, steamy read that will have you wanting more. Can't wait to read what this author has next.
The beginning captures you and it is hilarious, OMG. The characters are so good, well thought out, and the storyline was great. I liked how the heroine stood up for her independence, but also realized not to pass up a good guy, just to say your one bada** woman. Cheers for the hero, for he did not give up, and was persistent in his pursuit.

On the rooftop. A good quick read. Blake likes what sees when he rescues the curvy beauty from the roof. Every is happy to finally be on her own and be an independent woman. She likes Blake and interested in her . So, why does she keep turning him down when he asks her out? Grab a moving box and help out.

Everly gets stuck on the roof wearing no panties under her skirt (which may get embarrassing if you have to climb down ladders) and Blake, the fireman who comes to her rescue, asks her out. She says no until she says yes. It is pretty short, the kind of story you can finish during a commute or lunch break. It was all right for a quick diversion, nothing deep or particularly memorable.
First book from the Kings Of Fire series. Funny, fast paced, well written, engaging, instant love with two likable characters. Plenty of steam between Blake and Everly. Loved how Blake hung in there and finally won Everly over. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an enjoyable quick read. Everly moves into a new Spartans gets stuck on the roof. The fire dept. I’d called and Blake is the one who rescues Everly in her embarrassing situation. Everly was independent and Blake was a sweetheart when he tried to win her over. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It's a quickie with little heat and not much in the character development. One minute the female MC is all about independence and the next she's all over the guy with no inner POV leading up to it. SPOILER ALERT--Why didn't the maintenance man just go into her apartment and open the window for her?--SPOILER ALERT
This story was a fun and quick read. I think this is my second time reading from Sadie King and she did an amazing job! Everly and Blake are so cute. This is an insta love romance that you can finish reading in a hour or so. The writing was great! Amazing work Sadie King!
Cute story. Funny way to meet. I liked her independence but it made no sense in regards to turning down a date. Plus she goes from saying she isn’t that type of girl because of the no parties thing to on their first date repeating the no pantries things no them hooking up. Lol. Make up your mind. Liked how Blake was determined and kept trying. Good quick read.
The entire premise of the beginning was a joke. I'm sorry, but if she didn't think about asking the maintenance man to open her apartment and her window so she could get back in (what an idiot), the fire department would have thought of it. That part was irritating probably because I have members of my family that are firefighters.
I missed where it said this was only 42 pages. It started out so good and I thought this would be the book to finally get me out of my slump but then it started going at lightning speed and I was so confused until I realized I was 85% through the book. This had so much potential to be an actual novel.
Everly Just moved into her own apartment. She is so excited, she moved on a hot day and her apartment is on the 4th floor. So she crawls out the window to a nice ledge, and the window slams shut, but the maintenance man calls the fire dept. And Blake a fire fighter comes up the ladder to rescue her. Short and Sweet.
A really good book one in the Kings of Fire series! It is fast pace, engaging, witty, funny, and well written with likeable characters, instant and off the charts chemistry! Definitely recommended!

This was so funny and just a fun read. She is nervous to date because she just got her independence (oldest child and lost her father so she stayed at home to help out) but Blake doesnt give up. So adorable.

Blake is a hot fire fighter and Everley is a bada$$. The way they meet is hilarious and Blake is hooked immediately. Now he just has to convince Everley, she can be with him and still be her best bada$$ self.
Everly gets stuck on the roof of her new apartment and the fire department comes to Help her. Blake carries her down the ladder then asks her out. She says no. After all she just moved in to her apartment and she wants to be independent. Good ending.
When her window suddenly closes and Everly gets stuck on a ledge she never could of imagined what would happen. Blake comes and changes her life with on look and saves her in more then one way.
This was a cute short story with a hint of steam. I liked the instant attraction between Blake and Everly and I also liked that it took some time to develop. I have only recently discovered Sadie King but I’m a fast fan.
