My name is Tamsin Vale… And I’m no longer the last fairy. I found someone else finally and brought them out of the darkness.
A huge part of me wishes I hadn’t. The answers he had weren’t ones I wanted. I can’t trust him, and I don’t think he’s going to be any real help with the serious trouble we’re in.
Plus, he’s poking the men in my life and they aren’t handling it well. Everything is shaky right now. I’m on the outs with Mel and everyone has an opinion on that. We win one battle and more evil pops up. I make up with one man in my heart and another hurts me.
All I want to do is run, but I made promises that I plan to keep. I might be doing that alone instead of with help like I’d thought. Maybe people will come around. Maybe things will get better and I can find a way not to give up.
It’s probably more likely I’m going to learn about supe prison from firsthand experience.
Artemis University is an ongoing hot burning reverse harem, university-age paranormal academy series with darker elements, strong language, violence, and a heroine who follows her own moral compass of what is right… And who she ends up giving her heart to.
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
Eights books into this series and I'm still want to keep on reading. Love this series so far. But the relationship trouble and insecurities of the FMC start to annoy me, because people talk to each other!
I gave this 2 stars because I want to know what happens to Faerie and I am still interested on that part of the story. But the rest has gotten REALLY repetitive.
One of the guys screws up, Tamsin runs away then eventually "puts them in their place". This has happened several times throughout this series. At first it was refreshing that the author was showing how relationships can be rocky and that there are rough patches, but now we are 8 books in and it is just getting repetitive. I was glad that she ends this book with all of their relationships on the mend, but how she dragged on the Craftsman reconciliation was annoying. The having sex thing when NEITHER one was ready was cringie.
I also have issue with Neldor being portrayed as just another sexist asshole. It makes no sense that a male that was raised in the Fairy community and in their matriarchal culture to so blatantly act this way. Add in that he has been frozen in time for the last 20 years and it makes even less sense for him to be just as sexist as all the corrupt, evil males that have allegedly gotten that way because the fairies abandoned this world. It just makes no sense and feels like the author is just trying to make a quick simplistic villain.
The smackdowns are sometimes fun, but still preachy and once again repetitive. How the councils keep doing the same things over and over again is also repetitive. I did not like how things are going down with Mel, but I am willing to wait and see how that gets resolved. I personally don't feel like Tamsin did anything particularly egregious to her, but whatever, we shall see how that goes at the end.
Honestly I am just ready for this series to be wrapped up and see how it all gets brought together at the end.
Never one to disappoint Erin Flynn, when it comes down to my favorite fairy Tamsin Vale. I love the development of this storyline and all the other characters that makes Tamsin the person and badass heroine she is.
However, I just have one complaint that I wish you would take heed of since this has been an issue for me with the last 4 books I've read. Seriously, dude, you really, really, really need better proof readers. There's so many grammar and missing words errors that it's becoming taxing and annoying. It really disrupt the flow of the story.. Please fix this, I beg of you, because it will give this book series and characters more integrity and a stronger foundation.
I love this series but Tamsin is so broken and her ups and downs and woe is me in relationships are so dragged out that I almost feel frustrated and end up skipping all of the Tamsin doesn’t want to forgive one of her men even though she’s deeply in love with him and vice versa parts . It seemed like half of the book . I would rather read more parts about what’s going on in Fairie than Tamsins same I’m too broken to forgive moments( half of the book ) even though everyone can tell they’re not going to do it again. Or even when it’s explained to her about her bio mom. Tamsin is so broken it’s like talking to a rock when it comes to any resolution which in my opinion is too drawn out . Overall I still love this series and I’ll be reading the next book but hopefully the next book is better and it’s not filled with a broken stubborn Tamsin and her drawn out relationship issues. Just my opinion. Overall this series is one of the best that I’ve read . This is the first book that I just haven’t loved or just didn’t like .
Just learn to communicate already. All of the issues she has with the guys, is that they're not communicating... Like, at all. 3 of them "fucked up" multiple times, but craftsman did once and suddenly he's the worst of them all, and for 5 or 6 books, she can't forgive him? Relationships goes both ways, they both need to communicate. Tell him in words when he gets lost in gis head about magical stuff, don't just stomp off in a huff and expect him to know. She should have told him when he went off in his head, that he needed to pull his head out of his ass. But she didn't. I completely understand her hurt, that he would be conflicted about the power play offs, and the way he reacted. But i do think she's made it into a bigger issue than it is. The same with the guys, their dynamic is getting kind of toxic. They do or say something she doesn't agree with and suddenly she can't trust them and maybe they don't love her, and maybe they don't bla bla bla. It's every book... Every single book after they all fucked up once. I hope it won't continue like this. Because 25 books of that is just.... A lot. I like the books, i like the plot, and the conflicts and how they are or aren't solved. But the issues in the relationships with the 4 guys... It's a lot. The back and forth is getting a bit much. It's every book, and multiple times in every book now. I'm glad they've made up now, but i'm just eaiting for the hat to drop again and it starts all over. They don't communicate at all. In this book, they actually explained things to her, about why Lucca reacts as he does, how some things trigger Darby, or even all the shit with Craftsman..... Just talk, communicate. But also, the second Tamsin feels hurt, she pushes back and it hurts them back, but she's so damn focused on her hurt and how they did her wrong, but never how what she's doing or saying may hurt them. She saw in this book, and it hurt her. And they take it, because it's all their fault. All 5 of them are at fault dammit, they're not communicating, they hurt, jump to conclusion and seperate themselves from each other while hurting, and then they come to blow in giant arguments. Like i said, it's starting to be a bit much. But i still do like the books, and will read as much as i can. Here's to hoping that not all 25 books will have these issues.
I always enjoy this author's books. Her heroines are almost always overpowered, special snowflakes and I am so here for that. I will say that I find her main females hold grudges against the main male(s) for so long that, for me, it becomes tedious. I will still take that over a character who is a doormat and forgives too easily. There were some plot threads that I was thrilled to see progress in this installment. I am very much looking forward to book 9 to see more!
I am giving my first low star in this series. This book was unhinged. In this installment, the story takes a backseat to Tamsin's relationship dramas and it was TEDIOUS reading! I got really annoyed with Tamsin and her hypocritical rants. Oh and the soapboxing (sigh) ... This took me out of the story and made me wonder if Ms. Flynn is a miserable person in real life.
I seriously Lucking FLOVED this book.. this whole series.. okay so with said .. there was a lot of drama and bullshit arguing going on in the beginning.. I felt myself getting really tired of it but I’m glad I stuck with it because omg around 40 percent in I was so happy for Tasmin.... she’s finally getting somewhere and it’s going to be EPIC. The boys are finally digging their heads out of their asses.. I am still super sad about Mel though.. it seems her ride or die ... isn’t two sided.. that hurt my heart... the boys are enough to keep her mind off of it but when things calm down.. Tasmin has it weighing heavily on her conscious.. I am ready to get to the next book. I am so excited it is already at the editor.. I love that we don’t have to wait too long.. I love this series so much.. Darby, you sexy Irish vampy nerd.. I love you!! Way to close out the year!
Like the last few in this series, this book hits the ground running- and dares the reader to catch up. Things are moving, twisting and shaking out, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
OMMFG I'm in love with this series and I cannot wait for the next book!! Tamsin is amazing and I am so glad that she is getting help and has accomplished a lot in this book. Thing's are starting to come together and that ending has our girl ready for WAR against the councils. I'm also 😊 that the issues with her men are either fixed or on the way to be put to rest. I still think she needs to have more mate's than the original 4, I'm thinking at least one Light Fae and one Dark Fae. She really needs some Fae love!! 💜💙💚💛 Faedogs and Hobgoblins!!!!!
To say I loved this book is a small thing! I don’t have the words needed to convey how darn good this installment of the Artemis series really was! Epic fights, EPIC I say! Tamsin is amazing as always, and just really knows where to land the hits! Everything I had hoped happened, did. I can't wait for the next one, and the one after, and really hope to see even more to come. I love her world, so please keep writing Ms Flynn!
Amazing series, funny lines and surprises at every turn! 100000% the series to read
I love this series. I am constantly on the edge of my seat. I love the highs and low of the heroine had me laughing, crying and desperate for more. Cant wait for the next book. YOU ARE AN AMAZING AUTHOR ERIN!! ❤
I just adore Tamsin Vale and her fight for equality and for a better world. She is strong and fierce and always is ready to go into battle to get rid of evil. I cannot wait for more of this series.
I love the pacing and how we don’t have to bare witness to every little thing but the culmination of event of motions. I appreciate the light versus dark is nothing more than accepting oneself. Can’t wait to read the next coming books.
O my god! Another epic book! Tams has taken a turn for the better, with a couple of wins (saving the hobgoblins in Africa, getting her relations with Hudson and Julian sorted, and awakening a lot of fairies that aren't assholes) that finally managed to lift her spirits. And mine along, because reading this rollercoaster series, I could use a win as well:) great plot developments!!! Now it is really time to deal with the councils as their anti-women rhetoric and attempts to attack and slander Tamsin are getting ridiculous. Working with the Underground to attack HAVEN and Geoffs pack might finally push Tamsin too far.
(Added details after reread to keep track of what happens in each book).

OMG love love love Tasmin and all that she goes through. So happy she actually is starting to heal in this book and has gooten all parts of her soul back. Love how Erin gets a person invested in a story and can't wait for the next book....Thank you Erin
So I love this series. It’s honestly one of my favorites and I look forward to each new book. I like the characters, the diversity, the world building, and the plot.
However. I wish the writing was more concise or maybe just leaving explanations more so the reader figures things out on their own as opposed to every si game detail being spelled out. Every time there is an argument or monologue, whoever is speaking says their piece with not only facts but also metaphors, similes, allusions, and personal anecdotal examples.
This gets tiring, especially if it is repeating a main theme or idea of the whole book series. There are so many times where I’m like “did the main character already have this conversation?” Turns out yes, but with a different character. Same conversation but I have to read the main character say the same stuff to every single other character.
Also, I’m ready for more stuff to happen! The last two books seemed to not really have a climax. Don’t get me wrong, shit went down, people got hurt (literally and figuratively) and the plot developed. But, I find myself getting tired of reading certain parts in the book because it happens the same way every time: someone doe something/says something to Tamsin, she gets them back by doing something out of the blue, the person is like “how could you possibly do this”, it is reinforced that she is smart and adaptable despite being a woman and young, all her friends tell her she’s amazing but also is a wild card. I’m ready for some big events that stir good chaos or bring everyone even closer. I know wars are won each bullet at a time but I’m ready for plot, not more filler.
Regarding romantic relationships, I’m happy to see things going the way they are. I’m so tired of such an intelligent, understanding, adaptable, and empathetic main character not being any of those things toward her lovers. You would think you would want to be those things towards the person you love, despite any pain they’ve caused. It makes me wonder if this is how the writer thinks relationship are and how conflicts are dealt with?? Tamsin has been hurt and traumatized, yes. But it doesn’t feel like some of this conflict shouldn’t have gone on for as long as it did or as it still is. It’s like she turns into a brick wall of “no” when people try to explain their feelings or thoughts behind a choice/mistake. But then is up in arms or makes them feel bad when other people question her.
If it keeps going as is, I suspect there’s at least four books left. Especially looking at other series’ lengths the author wrote. Hopefully the storyline can keep my attention enough to see how everything ends. I want to see it all but my attention span is short.
This is a great series so far and the author is pretty quick with releases. I enjoy the different characters and overall I like Tamsin. However, there are several things that irk me, even from book 1.
1. Needs a new editor or fresh eyes. I am not the grammar police, but I expect better by book 8.
2. I believe Tamsin is unrealistic in regards to her men and mistakes. People will always mess up, but she acts so traumatized even after she finally listens to the otherside. I do not expect or want immediate forgiveness. However, if something is so wrong that you can never get past, the relationship is over. Stop dragging it out. She makes mistakes and overeacts all of the time, and the guys never really complain.
3. She is not fair in her relationships either. She seems to place Darby above all others and Hudson as a bootie call (that got a little bit better in this book) and the others are add ins. Fine she does not believe or respect mates, but I would hope and want her to not continue a relationship with someone she does not want to be with or does not respect. That is particularly in regards to Lucca. I do not know why he is in her harem because she truly acts like she does not like him or like I said, a add on.
4. The misogynistic, sexism, patriarchy and so forth is getting extreme. Yes, only men are in power. Yes, women are mistreated. Yes, women are a commodity only. Yes, Tamsin is the only one to care or stand up against this wrong. It really just aggravates me that every man is evil and she is the only person against because all women are sheep. It is so in your face that it is ridiculous. I do not know why the underground was brought up because the only true enemy has been the elders and counsel. Maybe that will change in the future, otherwise the underground seems more like hired mercenaries than an evil group.
5. The "bedroom " stuff gets on my nerves because it feels like 2 different people. In most incidences she is a strong woman that knows what she wants and needs with/ from her partner. I love that. Yet, when she acts like she is shy or traumatized, it is bull. She acts like oral will be demeaning, but she expects it and does not see the double standard. Also, in another breath she acts awkward or talks about being inexperienced. You cannot have it both ways. She is either confident in the bedroom or she is not. I can understand having some triggers due the the assault, but the author needs for Tamsin to have one personality.
Even with these pet peeves, I enjoy the series immensely. The storyline is unique. The world and character development is outstanding. When the books are available, I cannot put them down, so I end up with sleepless nights.
So it was really hard for me to rate this one and tbh I only gave it a 4 as I do love this series and the last hundred or so pages really really saved it! As I said before, I’m a huge fan of this series but this book was a bit of a disappointment. I absolutely loved that more faeries have been found and it feels like we’re closer to getting some answers and to Tamsin coming out and justice being served etc and I’m very very excited about that! However what disappointed me about this book is that I feel like the majority of it, especialllly the beginning, was literally centred on Tamsin and her continuous boy drama. So much so that it felt as if there was absolutely no plot building or any type of movement happening with in the plot. The first, like, 200 pages or so was literally just Tamsin and her boys working through yet MORE of the SAME issues. I’m not opposed to drama and self discovery and relationship issues and discussing trauma, however, it should be added as a part of the plot, not completely taking away from it. And it shouldn’t be too much. This was definitely too much, especially as it’s constant and not just in this book but like literally every book. I mean come on, you’ve got four boyfriends and you’re literally crying and arguing with all of them alllll of the time? Damn. But yeah that really took away from the story for me because we literally got nothing about the plot it was just 200 pages of going through the same old drama that we’ve seen time and time again. And I mean come on, Tamsin is always portrayed as highly intelligent yet she thought they were “just dreams”? Da,n bitch, ask him maybe???? You’re sooooo open about sharing your business in front of literally everyone all of the time but casually asking “hey are these actual dreams or magical mate dreams” isn’t something you can do??? Common sense honey. Anyway, when the actual plot and storyline actually got going I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book! But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Erin I am BEGGING you, can you maybe make Tams a little less whiny and drama focused next book? I’m missing out on all the plot! And also I’m so glad she finally have one of her men some head because wow that girl is SELFISH in bed. But there we go. I’m looking forward to the next book ❤️

In the last book when Tamsin is losing hope, Faerie 'aids', and I use that term loosely here, her in releasing a fairy from the darkness. Doing this hurts her and the fairy released isn't what Tamsin hoped. Prince Neldor is a royal pain in the arse, he believes they are betrothed, something Tamsin will not ever go along with. He annoys everyone even the almost unflappable hobgoblins. She also delivers some vengeance to some who need that which will cause a bit of chaos in this book.
In this book we see the first of the consequences of the vengeance, which really is nothing more than a lot of hot air and annoyance.
Professor Campbell shows her true colors in this one and Julian finally realizes how blind he's been, that was fun...
Mel is still pissed and has distanced herself, totally not getting that what Tamsin did not only saved her live but her family's as well. This is causing Tamsin a lot of pain, but there really is nothing she can do about it.
White, Craftsman and Larson are evaluating how much energy to unlock another fairy. In this way perhaps it could be done without hurting Tamsin. It's almost surprising that Neldor is the one who finds someone who will boost everyone's mood. Especially her lawyer Geiger who is quietly becoming more frustrated.
Cluym is a dark fairy like Neldor but he is also Geiger's mate, so hopefully will have some logical sense. Everyone is anxious when the time comes to do this, all hoping it works and Tamsin isn't injured again.
Now along with Cluym, several light fairies were awakened. Iolas, Captain of the Light Guardians and four of his Lieutenants. While they still need to acclimate, they do know Tamsin is the heir and their Princess. They will protect her, even from Neldor.
Julian messes up even more by making assumptions, now they have to figure that out. More with the fae dogs, and allies with regard to the hobgoblins still in captivity and oh so much more!
Every page in this book is either sizzling or an adventure in one way or another. Lots of good, more bad unveiled and somewhat taken care of as Tamsin continues to unfreeze fairies a few at a time and continues to learn not only in classes but from others as well.
I am already reading the next book in this series as it became available just before I finished this one.
Please note the following review encompasses books 7 through 12 of the SERIES. As each book depends on the prior books, I am not reviewing each individually to cut down on repetition. Following this review, I will be reviewing the series in batches of 5, with a final end review of the series as a whole.
As always, I will endeavor to minimize spoilers, but please read at your own risk.
OH.MY.GODDESS.
I am practically speechless right now. I just closed my Kindle on that wicked relationship cliffhanger at the end of book 7, and my better half (at least according to him) is laughing at me for looking like a fish with my mouth opening and closing. (He's a real peach 🍑, 😆)
So far, I can honestly say that I have never read anything like Artemis University before. It is one of a kind, which honestly makes me a little sad, because it is so freakin amazing. It is nonstop. Full out. Action, coming of age, romantic relationship drama, friendship makers and breakers, enemies to lovers, heiress to the empire ... I could go on except I can't find the words. This series has everything you could want. Hot and steamy. Warm and domestic. Plus some swashbuckling and tight pants. It is almost the Princess Bride of romance series.
Well, if Buttercup was really a Fairy, and there were multiple Wesleys, some of whom are quite dark on the morally gray scale. The R.O.U.S.'s easily could translate to the assorted corrupt elders and councils, provided they could survive and even thrive away from the Fire Swamp ....
I am getting way off track. Anywho, there is a metric frakton that happens in these 5 books, but I am not going into details. No spoilers, remember? Just trust me. Have someone hold your beer and download the first book. It feels like a crazy leap, but you will love every moment of learning to fly.
However, before I go, I do want to add a content warning of sorts because mental health matters. Contained in the story so far, you will find past trauma (physically, emotionally, and smexually.) There are forced abductions, bullying outside of the harem, references to ongoing trafficking, violence, attempted forced mating and SA, intimate partner abuse, family disconnect and related trauma from both sides, and discussion of forced breeding. Please know your limits and read responsibly.
Loved it! Spoiler alert If you haven't read this book yet only read first half of review
I absolutely love this series! Its one of my favorite series I've ever read in this genre and I'm an avid reader consuming 3-400 books a year. The characters are so real I feel like I could pic up my phone and text Tamsin lol and the world the author has built is absolutely believable. Full of twists and turns that keep you guessing, and pulls you in wanting more but the best part is her characters that have you laughing, crying, loving and hating and to top it off the passion of a RH without the trashy aspect that often accompanies the genre. My only negative criticism is her inability to give Julian another chance because he will leave her again. I have a similar childhood has Tamsin one of the reasons I love her so much! I've done therapy and work hard on my self awareness and self worth and can completely relate to nor trusting people will stay but this is a little over the top and exaggerated. Also Hudson same thing and then there's Mel? That really bothers me because Mel is so important to Tamsin and her leaving her should be MAJOR but no we barely focus on it at all but obsess over the pain of craftsman! You gave the situation with Hudson more time than Mel just no, no. We focus on the value of women for a great deal of these books but don't give her relationship with women the same time or attention it bothers me. The other thing but j.I'm still holding out is we've been waiting for her people and fighting to find/free them since the beginning but we've only met a handful and that's it....like what!? But like I said I have faith Erin will get there. Thank you for letting me share my love and frustration lol as any great book will make you feel
I flip flopped between 3 and 4 stars and rounded up because I genuinely like this series (and the Seraphine Thomas books). I like that the faeries are waking up and except for the dark Prince Neldor, they all seem to be understanding of her situation and willing to help. I enjoyed the unity going on and I liked that Tamsin is going on the offensive with the bad guys now instead of constantly playing defense. I like her friends. The friendships are one of my favorite things about Flynn's books. Although I am mad at Mel, which is a shame because she was one of my favorites. Im not too giddy with her guys... if you forced me to pick the best, I'd go with River, but I'm not 100% sold on Hudson. I'm not a big fan of Lucca or Darby at all right now. The bear is my least favorite of all her guys. Don't even get me started on Julian... The romance aspect is almost a recurring theme for most of Erin Flynn's books: Boy seduces Girl. Boy hurts Girl. Girl tries to leave or get over Boy. Boy cries and apologizes by seducing girl. Girl forgives Boy. Sex and Food are had by all. ... It's obvious I'm into the series and invested in the characters and story but... I skim the sex scenes most of the time. I've read a bunch of Flynn's books and all the heroines talk the same. Phrases are repeated in every series I've read from her. It drives me insane that in almost every series, the Heroes aren't ever reliable 100%. I don't feel the romance and these books are giving me serious trust issues in the love and loyalty department. I forgive the editing because Flynn is pumping out these books faster than I thought possible.

I have so many conflicting opinions finishing this book. Let me start by saying I'm VERY happy Tams has reconciled with her whole harem (first time in eight books).
I'm furious at the loss of Mel. I'm over her moody distance. Over it.
I hate Neldor. I don't think that will change.
I do continue to adore Tams at every turn. She is an OG. Every person that needs a champion has her without question.
Okay. To my conflicting opinions. As I have BINGE READ this series in six days, I looked up the author's FAQ and found that she intends to make the Artemis University series Roughly 25 books. Twenty- five. That means, we are not even halfway into the series. We aren't even a full third into it.
I understand wanting to tie up all loose ends and doing so nicely so that the reader feels like they got the whole story but that just seems excessive to me. Even averaging quick releases every six weeks, the author is bound to burn herself out on this story which would be the worst possible fate for AU.
I don't think it's worth recycling relationship issues to tie up all the possible justice and 'eye for an eye' Tams needs. The continued issues Tams' has with her men does not add to the story for me. If anything, there are two harem members that could fall off a cliff and I wouldn't bat an eye. I actively struggle to read passages featuring either of these men. It takes 2-3x longer to read because I'm ready for them to sod off.
What does this mean for me as a reader? Well. I will keep reading the series until I reach my breaking point and just hope the author changes her mind about the length of the series. 13-18 books? Awesome. 25? Excessive.
I realized something while reading this book. In terms of loyalty to friends and family with Tamsin, I am just like her where it is both a positive and a negative, both a good and bad thing... it helps and it hurts. But otherwise I'm just glad things are finally going g Tamsin's way and things at least partially worked out. I do have some theories about what might happen. 1. Her mother is actually alive through some miracle or she has an aunt or uncle and such etc etc, 2. I'm hoping she finds her father and she can have that father figure in her life or he'll be a total 180 from what you would expect and 3. Where tf was Mel.... I'm mad we didn't see any of her in this story (sorry if you haven't read it yet but it's not even a small spoiler honestly get over it) so I'm hoping we see some more of her and both Tamsin and Mel air out their problems with each other and become best friends again and back to being badasses. Honestly, Tamsin is like my new role model I loved her courageousness, and fierceness and the not taking shut from anyone attitude and how she always stays strong no matter what... I admire her greatly and wish I had more of her in me... I look forward to the next 2 books.... hopefully the last 2 bc I want Tamsin to relax and get her HEA :)))
Thanks for the wonderful Christmas present! I was in the middle of another book so I waited to finish that one before starting to read this though i whooped and hollard my excitement in Christmas day and downloaded the book immediately when I saw the notification. As much as I love to read my family Never thinks too get me books for Christmas so this was awesome.
Now that I got that out of the way. I love this series. I love how kick ass Tamsin is. I love how she is so smart too. I started this book last night and couldn't put it down. I want to see pictures of her throwing knives in her braids because I think that is f*ing awesome and would be so cool to do. I do wish her man candy was less candy and more involved in her endeavors to bring about change. I am hopeful that will happen when things don't have to be so secretive. I am glad she was able to give them all a second chance. Relationships are hard and the good ones are worth fighting for, I am glad she was able to let go of her past abuse enough to try and hopefully they will continue to help her heal. I am also real glad Nelson is an excepting not a rule to fairy attitude. I am so excited for the next book and delighted to hear it is already on editing. Thank you so much for your hard work writing these books!
I have some mixed feelings about this one; so much so that I'm not going to follow my normal review format and am just going to throw all my thoughts at you together. Tamsin is finally able to wake more fairies and achieve some progress for Faerie and a personal goal. I think there is some forward momentum with her guys. I got some satisfaction from a public beating at one point, but it was also contradictory and confusing. Tamsin and company assist some allies when they are attacked in force, but then there's a big cover up that just didn't sit all that well with me. I know we read sexy romance novels for the fantasy, but the multiple orgasms and calling names out every time is actually wearing on me a bit. I'm pretty much losing track of all the politics so I just roll with it now. I also tend to skip a lot of the repetitive and monologue type stuff. So...Tamsin exhibits behaviors very characteristic of fairies, plus several other clues, but NO ONE but a couple good guys have figured it out on their own? I try to just roll with it, and I do for the most part, but it's the hardest part for my suspension of disbelief to keep up with. So, yeah. I still love Tamsin, Craftsman, Hudson, and Darby (and others) as well as the series as a whole, but that last part grates hard on me and this - while still good - just wasn't among my favorites of the series.
When I started this series, i wondered how in the workd the author could rock out 20+ books on one story. Now i know why… three books in we read chapter after chapter of Tam bitching and preaching. Then slapping her guys around. It feels like she is about to become a dictator queen, and her poor boyfriends do nothing but piss her off then beg for forgiveness after SHE is the one who isnt listening or jumps to conclusions. I feel like i have enough of the story to just jump to the last updated book (20) and Ill know exactly what is going on. Eight books in and not much has changed. Problems with the same council idiots. Or new ones. But yeah. Problems with every single mate. I seriously feel bad for them. She is an asshole. She is toxic as hell. And we all know the Prince will be a mate. At some point he will see the error in his ways, he is truly her mate, and she’ll constantly jerk him back and forth like the other guys. Of course he will constantly be begging for forgiveness for some small slight, just like the other guys. She’s a dick at this point. I’ll probably skip to 20 and not even waste my time on the books in between. She is crazy predictable now which is a shame because the first three books were super enjoyable. I kept on truckin hoping something would change. It didnt :(
