21 chapters: rating: MA with sexual discussions: a story where our Darcy was His Grace, the Duke of Derbyshire. Mr. Bennet had died. Collins married Charlotte. An elderly distant relation decided to bestow a dowry on the Bennet girls and rent a house in town for them with a modest establishment for their comforts. Elizabeth and Mr. Gardiner tried to emphasize to their elderly Great Uncle Gardiner that he should NOT give in to Mrs. Bennet’s request for carte blanche. She would need to curtail her spending otherwise she would never be satisfied. It was meh. [3.5 stars round to 4]
I’ve read this now three times. The first time I read it, it left no impression on me. Reading it the second time… I was able to see why. It was bland. Mrs. Bennet was horrid and got on my last nerve. She absolutely had no sense and would embarrass the crap out of her two eldest at every turn. Even I was embarrassed by her actions.
Darcy was a wash-out and I just didn’t feel the love. I mean… something was off.
Errors: Miss Eliza… who uses that? Charlotte was the only person other than Caroline that used Eliza. How would anyone know to use it? Why would they presume to do so? Certainly not Colonel Fitzwilliam or even Charles Bingley. Even Mrs. Bennet called her… ‘Oh, my Eliza!’ Darcy once used it too. What?
Wickham was a pig. Georgiana was a silly little girl who wanted to play grownup until she was faced with the consequences of her actions. She was constantly weeping over something. Lydia and Kitty were, as their father has always stated, the silliest girls in England. Mrs. Bennet was simply ridiculous. Mary was practically a non-entity; she was just there. Our dear Colonel was himself and I just loved him. Caroline bit off her nose to spite her face and lit a match under Lady Catherine that backfired in her face. They both attempted to cause trouble but were pushed back by his Grace and his feisty fiancée. Yeah, that was good. They then dropped off the page and we heard no more about them. There was no epilogue so I assume… they got over their bitterness.

I found this to have a great storyline. The execution at times is lacking and there wasn't follow through with several scenes. However, an inventive alternative and enjoyable read.
