Ten Minutes to Bed is a beautifully illustrated series by Rhiannon Fielding and illustrated by Chris Chatterton. it features Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Mermaid Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Unicorn Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Monster Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Dragon Ten Minutes to Bed: Little Dinosaur ( My favorite) These naughty children each go on an adventure before bedtime, doing everything they can to stretch out there bedtime buy alas sleep catches up with all of them. Each book is a countdown from 10 minutes to bedtime, brimming with magic and cuteness. There a lovely series of books for children of all ages.
Ten Minutes to Bed is one of our favourites and Little Dragon is up there with one of the best. The dragon is so sweet, with brilliant illustrations - one of the major selling points of this series for us - and we loved the story too.
I don’t think the narrative is quite as heart warming as some of the others, but it’s still a great addition to the series and we’ll revisit it often!
First, my review for this book's editor -- or whoever was responsible for the hype on the front cover:
"The magical BESTSELLING bedtime series from Rhiannon Fielding and Chris Chatterton"
HELLO!
One reason I enjoy reading books, including books for children... Is the same as why I enjoy reading and rating books for myself: People who like books tend to have their own working thinkers.
AS IF THE GROSS HYPE above the title isn't enough, what else is on the cover?
* Over-the-top illustrations * Six different fonts for the 17 words on the cover, if I computed them correctly. * Garish colors unrelentingly, creating the illusion (for me) that every creature, tree, and strangely-formed mountain, is SCREAMING. * A pink spirally loop-de-loop, likely there for no earthly reason at all. (Although at first I thought it might represent flatulence from the violently aggressive pink gal, the one who is belching flames.) * And glitter. Glitter on a book cover, for crying out loud!
OKAAAAY, ON TO READING THE ACTUAL BOOK
Is this story's alternative fantasy process for going to "The Land of Nod" supposed to help children? Help them to gently nod off to sleep? I find it pretty confusing, and I'm an adult.
By the time we get to the (inevitable?) rainbow illustration, I can't resist noting: This may be the crudest, least rainbowlike, illustration of a rainbow I've ever seen. Anywhere.
ALTOGETHER, I'LL GIVE THIS BOOK FOUR STARS
Assuming that this book was manufactured for readers with a taste for garishness, and they prefer their words predicatable, and there is no such thing as a TOO-CUTESY illustration. Hey, it's kinda a winner.
OTHERWISE?
Regarding all other kinds of readers, you might want to avoid this blookkkkkque.

A sweet bedtime story with a bit of adventure. This is the first Ten Minutes to Bed story that I've read. I loved the map of the The Land of Nod on the endpapers (daytime and nighttime versions), which shows places and characters introduced in the other books.
It's nearly time for bed, but Flicker and Flash want to get in one last race before they settle in for the night. When they find a lost dragon egg, it's a race to reunite the egg with its mother and get home in time for bed.
The illustrations are adorable. I loved the glimpses into the fantasy world in each spread as the dragons fly across The Land of Nod.
A very cute story with imaginative artwork and a sweet emphasis on helping others and doing the right thing.
Ten minutes to bed and all the little dragons are getting out their last bits of energy flying around their homes. All except two - Flicker and Flash want to fly away on an adventure! With each minute that ticks by, they get farther away, until they notice an egg that has rolled away from its home. Flicker carries the egg while Flash lights their way as they return it to its worried mama just before it hatches.
Cute little rhyming story about little zooming dragons in their last 10 minutes before bed. 3+ sentences on each page.
This was a super adorable little book with absolutely amazing artwork! I read it for a friend's kids (multiple times!) and now I'm super tempted to buy it for myself simply because of the cute art.
Those dragons are adorable!
It's short little adventure, but Flicker and Flash are fun and sure to entertain kids of the appropriate age and can easily be enjoyed by both boys and girls.
I quite probably have chunks of it memorized by now, but still love it.
I didn't realize this was a series! I will definitely be searching for the rest of them. Gorgeous illustrations with a fun countdown and rhyme element. Though it is a bedtime book, I think it would still work well during storytime.
Barf, barf, barf, this is making my saccharin meter overload. Nauseatingly cute computer generated art. It does rhyme smoothly though. So the 2 stars are for the text.
It is time for a new Ten Minutes to Bed, this time featuring two adorable dragons named Flicker and Flash!
I came across this book in the library, it was the Dutch edition. I just couldn’t resist though, I really enjoy these Ten Minutes to Bed stories, they are cute and adorable and fun and sweet, and well, you just want to read them!
In this one we meet the little dragons named Flicker and Flash! They are having the greatest time, zooming, fire breathing, playing, but then it is time for bedtime! They are having so much fun though + they find an egg, so will they make it in time? I just loved Flicker and Flash, I love how they just keep on playing. Just like little kids will always do. Because there is still a bit of time so let’s cram in as much fun and playtime as we can! Which is just adorable! And Flicker and Flash are just adorable! I love that they are siblings.
Each book makes me want to explore the lands more. I mean, we have a map at the beginning (with several characters from other books on it), but Flicker and Flash flying around shows us a lot of the land and I just wanted to hop into the story and fly along with them, or hop along with the unicorns, or swim with the mermaids. There is just too much fun here!
The illustrations are so pretty. You really want to just frame them on the wall!
As I already said in earlier reviews for the series, it never feels like 10 minutes are left. I mean the things these little ones do take WAY more than 10 minutes. For instance in this one our duo has so much fun and goes away from their home quite a bit, then also find an egg and have to bring that big egg back. Even with the power of magic, that is just not going to happen.
All in all, I want more of this series! I will have to see if my libraries have other books in Dutch. I would recommend this book to all, it is fun, yes, the 10 minute thing is not working, but the rest is a lot of cuteness and makes for a great bedtime read~
As adorable as the Little Grandson to whom I read this book during my recent week in Iceland. Arún even looks like Flicker and Flash with his big curious eyes! He especially loved that the Little Dragon was "eating fire" and that a Baby Dragon hatched out of a rescued egg a few minutes before bedtime.
I just gave 5 stars because of the illustrations because they're so cute🥹 The story itself is not that good But it is cute, and when I was my cousin's age I was only focused on the illustrations and some of my childhood books I don't even know the story, I just remember the pictures so it's very good🤙
