After Rowen 's husband dies, she decides it's time for her daughter and her to move back home. After being gone for 10 years, she's a little nervous to see the friends she left behind. Will they be able to forgive her for leaving them or will returning to Everton be just another mistake?
This is a reverse harem, meaning Rowen doesn't have to choose between her love interests.

First off, beware the cliffhanger, it’s a doozy. I knew there was one coming when we got to around 90% and were nowhere near done with the story. It seems the author agreed with me and decided the story needed another book.
This book is about Rowen. She’s a 30-year-old widowed mother who also happens to be a magic-user, who lives amongst ‘norms’. Her husband was not a magic user and didn’t like that Rowen and her daughter were, and demanded that they didn’t practice magic. Rowen’s husband has been dead for 6 months and she has decided it’s time to return to her home town where she and her daughter can practice magic openly. In a town of magic users, her family and best friend will be around and her best male friends might let her apologise for dropping off the face of the Earth when she met her husband.
Rowen always loved her male friends, Kayden and Auden, the twins, Hudson, the leader, and Nate, the bad boy. Magic users sometimes have multiple partner relationships so it’s not that out there that she could be with all four guys, but she didn’t think they felt that way for her. She met her husband when she went away to college and she never really went back, especially as her husband disapproved of her guys.
When Rowen comes back home, she meets up with her guys again, and their friend Declan and Declan’s young son, who the guys helped raise alongside Declan when his wife died in childbirth. None of the guys had it easy when Rowen left, because they loved her and couldn’t understand how she could walk away and not look back.
This is actually a pretty sweet book. I love all the little magic touches, such as making a dream playhouse for Rowen’s daughter that magically alters depending on what the child wants to play with, and telekinesis being used for baking. Rowen’s daughter, Violet, is really sweet and the character interacts as a unique personality, which sometimes doesn’t happen in books, where young children are part of the plot.
The plot is interesting, and in some places quite disturbing. There was also some heat in the bedroom, though I felt the BDSM scene was a little shaky. Mainly the romance part of this book is sweet, and that is sometimes exactly what you want in a romance.
Like I said the cliffhanger is a bit of a doozy, so be prepared to be annoyed if the next book isn’t out (I’m not sure when it comes out, or if it’s out already) because it is a bit emotional. I really hope the book comes out soon!
The FMC Rowen is a 30 year old single mom, RH with guys she already knows(that’s a nice change), with a dash of magic.
I really enjoyed this book it was really a sweet. I loved Violet and Quinn the FMC’s main girls. The guys were all amazing! And Rowen after everything she has been though(I won’t post spoilers) she has stayed strong for her daughter, I would have freaked out. And that ending WTH!!!!
I enjoyed the characters and the plot. The ending was not what I was expecting but I could not really get into how the author presented the storyline. It felt like a dialogue for parts of the story with the FMC repeating her self a lot. The flow wasn’t that great to me. It didn’t capture me and made me feel like I was there, feeling and living with these characters as other stories have. Like I said, the plot is good but it was hard to read through it to see if it got better. Sorry, just my opinion. I feel like it could be better.
Well. There’s a lot of good and just a teeny bit of not so good. This is covering both duets. Just a head’s up. DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY SPOILERS. ✋🏼🛑✋🏼🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑 YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I always appreciate a good solid duet or trio of books. I respect an author than can release all at once so that her anxious readers are able to read the stories! Some of yall have no idea how anxiety can affect reading. Cliffys without another book to read? 💩 🤮
The story and characters were fun to read. Although at times it felt like way too many men and never enough time fleshing out the deeper character bonds. I got enough to see the whole picture. I think the twins got the least amount of depth.
I loved the kids and their sweet friendship. Loved the parents and their kids relationships too. While everything was made to be a bit too perfect between kid and parent, I was ok w less drama on that side. Ya know?
And Rowen’s bff Quinn, who was almost cartoonish in her spastic craziness was still a good addition. I look forward to her books for sure. Their relationship was cute. And their antics made me laugh. But. Hope she calms down a bit bc I am not certain I can read two books full of her spastic nature. Then again, who am I kidding? I will read the hell out of her books. 🤦🏻♀️😂
I actually liked the crazy ass-bad girl, BB. She was fun to read. I liked that she couldn’t run over Rowan and the guys all hated her. She was easy to hate. 😂 I appreciated she was made to be a hot girl but that her insides made her so unappetizing to Rowen’s guys. Also glad she never hooked up w any. I would have put the book down over that. #catface 🐱
I also loved that the guys waited for her and never had girlfriends or got married. Some folks hate insta love books but this wasn’t like that. You get the history early on and parts unfold quickly. Since they had all been bffs for so long, they had plenty of sweet stories from the past. To me, it was nice to see they loved her and weren’t angry or bitter or mean towards her. After all the crap she had gone thru for ten years, Rowan deserved that.
I am SO GLAD there was no bullying from the men towards Rowan. So sick of that trope. Thanks to their past together the way to all unfolded worked for me.
There is a magic cancer aspect that unfolds. If that bothers you, know that it is fully resolved. As a cancer survivor I could see where the story was headed in the first book. But again, you do have a beautiful resolution of that part.
The sex scenes by book two got a bit repetitive almost like the author was sick of writing them and copy and pasted each time. But hey, it was still good. 😂
The adding on of two dominant men in the bedroom was odd to me. Felt like she was checking sex boxes for variety to hit every freak book out there. Normally that can work but it felt forced for me.
Maybe I just didn’t want a punishment spanker in the mix.
Nate, was our resident punishment spanker and hot headed, angry boy. And she had to call him SIR in the bedroom. I am not into men who “punish” their women for disobedience before sex. But I will still read the books. In this situation, after she had been spell drugged and dominated by an asshole husband, it was icky. Just. Yuck. Nate was already a short fuse dude. Why make him be the punishment spanker too? It didn’t work for me.
Declan 🥵was a Dom and she had to call him SIR or freakin DADDY in the bedroom. Belch. But at least that worked for me. Meaning-that he was a Dom. But the daddy shit? Ergh.
Not yucking any yum for yall but when you mix parents, young kids and this sort of daddy kink? Welp. It just didn’t vibe for me. But if you dig that then you have it in spades. It just gave me the heebee jeebees🤮
Again. All of that was kept in the bedroom. So the kids didn’t know or hear.
So the teeny not so good was just my personal tastes. Which is why I still gave both books 4 stars. I don’t remove stars bc of a personal opinion on a topic. Not fair to the authors. Esp bc this WILL appeal to others!
Overall it was an awesome story and duet of books. Highly recommend!

Magic! Suspense! Romance! Twins! Irish accent! Are you here for it? I sure as hell am. Returning to Everton feels like going home, in all the best ways. Scarlett Philips makes her debut with an incredible story about single mom Rowen and her adorable daughter Violet, moving back to Rowen’s hometown and reuniting with her four childhood best friends. Are they sexy? Absolutely. The fact that they are really interesting, protective, funny, passionate, and loving is also a big bonus. It’s a treat to be able to get to know Rowen as she rediscovers herself and how these men will fit into her new life. But four isn’t enough you say? Great, there’s a sexy Irishman with a great kid that may be the perfect addition to this family. Sprinkle in the fact that they are all magic-users, provide Rowen with an endless supply of baked goods and give you all the feels with their unique personalities and forms of affection and it is the perfect recipe for happiness (complete with sizzling chemistry and sexy times).
I love that Rowe gets a real second chance at love with these men. And the way they take care of her and Violet will pull at your heartstrings and have you setting your book/kindle/phone down to just sigh and stare longingly at your own partner while he does something non-magical ;) . As with any good book, of course it isn’t always smooth sailing. There is a childhood bully that has grown up into a full-fledged b*tch and a very worrisome discovery that will have you questioning everything. You get so consumed with the lives of these characters that before you know it, you’re falling off the edge of a cliff. THANKS FOR THAT. You will scream, but you will also quickly start begging for more. I absolutely can not wait to see what happens in book two, because if it is even half of what this book is, it’s going to be absolutely amazing!
Ok, I must start off asking why I had to get left with those six words and then nothing until the next book? Well played, I love it and am dying to find out what happens. Cannot wait for the next book. Great book! I especially enjoyed how all the men just waited for her, she came back home, and they were ready to move forward with their relationship and show her how much she means them. Everyone just flowed so flawlessly together and really connected with all the characters. Rowen’s sass is spot on for her! I knew something was up with her relationship with Harris, the way she talks about herself a lot and then compares who she was with Harris just made me think there was so much more there. I mean, before I even reached chapter five, I had about a dozen different theories going on. Way to keep me hooked. The build up between characters had me on the edge of my seat, I was rooting for all the guys and was hoping that they would be able to build up. I thought it was great when it came time for Rowen to sit down with Violet and talk about her relationship with the guys. I felt that her approach and the conversation she had with her daughter was amazing. It just made everything flow together even better. Of course, I also enjoyed the slight amount of drama that was there, and I seriously have my suspicions about Britney, I also don’t like her lol. Everything was there for me with this book, the steam, the love, the connections and the drama and angst. Most of all I just really enjoyed that there wasn’t any resentment from the guys. Everyone hashed it out and had that tough conversation about their thoughts. Worth the read.
This book was a little rough for me to get through. It was multiple POV so you get to peek into the head of each character. Unfortunately, not a lot going on besides the mundane responsibilities of everyday life though. Rowen's husband dies so she decides to move back to her hometown where her childhood friends have been pining away for her for 10 years. She has a little girl, Violet, that does a lot of squealing and screaming throughout the book. The beginning or the end of practically every sentence she utters has the word "mommy" in it. I got pretty frustrated with that. I'm not sure if the author was concerned we wouldn't know who was speaking if she didn't include the person's name that was being addressed or what. In one instance, Declan and Rowen are texting each other so their names were displayed before each sentence. They still had to exclaim the other person's name every time they spoke. It felt pretty redundant. During one chapter Rowen spoke to her own mother and had to start or end every sentence with a "mom". It was difficult to focus with all the names being thrown out there. The book desperately needs some more editing.
All the guys in the harem are very sweet to Rowen and her daughter. If you're looking for a sweet bordering on cheesy love story you may enjoy this book. There really isn't a lot of angst going on besides the mean girl they have to deal with on occasion and the magic spells. The book ends in a cliffhanger but those don't bother me. I don't think I'll be reading the second book. I just wasn't invested in the characters or the plot enough to care about what is going to happen next.
I will admit this book starts off a little slowly at the beginning, but once you get to the meat of the story, it pulls you in quickly. It is a mix between friends to lovers and second chance romance that I really enjoyed. I also appreciate the older characters and the single mom aspect.
I like the way magic works for the characters in Everton. It flows freely without much limitation, and this is unique in that many books require the characters to achieve some great feats before their magic works for them.
The relationship between Rowen and Violet melts your heart with sweetness. One of my favorite parts is when they talk about how to treat friends. Rowen cares so deeply for her daughter, and Violet is a little angel. There is a deeper positive message there about being kind, which is shown as Violet starts school and befriends another little girl.
The author has a scene between Nate and Violet where he tells her a bedtime story, and it is a perfect way to explain Rowen's relationship with all five fellas.
There is a lot of sweetness packed in this book, yet there is also some drama (especially at the end, thank you, Scarlett, for the cliffy 😒), and a good amount of humor too. Let's just say Bryce has a hilarious nickname, and you even won't know who that is until almost the end of the book. The steam picks up in the second half, and it may surprise you. Two words: Magic Playhouse.
I will be begging for the release of the next book until she releases it. I need to know what happens next!
Returning to Everton was a sweet story that starts with the death of Rowen's husband of ten years. After being married with a five year old daughter, Violet, Rowen decides that it is time for a change and to return home to her family and childhood friends, and her magical roots. The story starts out a little slow, but I absolutely fell in love with little Violet. There is a suspense element that was a slow-build, but by the end I had a lot of questions that I can't wait to see what happens!
Returning home after 10 years means that somethings have changed, but one thing that didn't was the love that she has for her best friends. As she starts to feel more and more like herself, she finds that the love is not only one way. I loved the relationship with her men. They are sweet, kind, considerate, doting on her, and most importantly to her daughter.
From the start, I really didn't feel sorry for the death of her husband, as he is described as a controlling man. He removed Rowen from all of her family and friends, refused to let her have a job or be passionate about something, and most importantly, kept her away from her magic. Then as the story continues, it turns out that he really may not have been all that he seemed, and could he have been working with someone else?
Overall: I found this to be a heartwarming story, full of love and friendship. The end left me very sad with that cliff hanger and the emotional wringer that it was. I can't wait to see what happens, and find out more in book 2!
Hmmm. I have a love/hate relationship going on with this book! First off - I love new authors! I love seeing what new stories they write and seeing them develop as they write more books.
Ok this book - I’m super obsessed with Everton town and need more of all of the characters ASAP. I’m glad the author decided to make this into a multiple book series. A lot of the guys needed more time with the FMC and the setting is awesome. Even the bestie is a great character. The guys were all swoon worthy and different and each brought something different to the table. Plus the build up was 🔥 and I love an author that knows how to make a bedroom scene 😉!
What I did not like about this and I’m sorry to the author if you are reading this....I thought their was a lot of unnecessary conversations between characters and just overall fill-ins. I found myself skipping lots of pages, especially in the beginning when it didn’t include the FMC and her guys... Having now finished the book, I don’t feel like I missed anything.
That all being said, I still plan on reading book 2! I am in love with the world this author built and am eager to know what’s going to happen and who did it. Even though, I’m prettttty sure we all know who did it!!!!!
*Overall 3/5 *Slow burn (nothing till about 40ish % thru) *Heat? Lots lust in the beginning. 4/5. It was good tho and I need more in book2, maybe as a group??😂😉 *First person POV - all main characters *HEA? Nope, leaves u on a cliffhanger. :(
Contains spoilers. This story has been a surprise. I didn’t realize magic would be involved so that was fun. Overall I do like this story. However this story began to have a tea effect for me. What is mean is at first I was adjusting to what is happening in the story and who everyone was then it seemed to be at the right pace and everything was going well. So as with tea the story started to become lukewarm for me in the last 3rd of the book. Not bad but my interest started to wane. The mystery thread felt weak like it wasn’t originally intended to be there. It made the main character seem off. She increasingly becomes unstable in weird ways. I can sympathize with the traumatic situation that has happened to the mc but the way it is was told was confusing. For me it felt not that serious then all of suddenly it got right now need to be handled serious. The romantic thread was good. Definitely seems to be the foundation of story. No real complaints here. The magic thread was okay. It was a take it or leave it aspect. The story still works without it. The ending was an twist. I was expecting a twist but that wasn’t it. I felt forced. I’m not sure I care that this event happened. Honestly I’m not sure if I will read the sequel. It felt like this could have been nicely tied up in one book but then the writer decided to add other elements which then led to a bigger plot but I doesn’t feel like the vision for the story could keep up with this new plot. Maybe the next book will fix the flaws of this one.
This book was not what I expected, but in ALL the best ways!
From the blurb I knew going in that this story was about a young woman in her 30's that recently became a single mom due to losing her husband. That alone had me excited. Why?! Because the FMC is close to my age and a mother. I love when I feel like I can relate to a story.
This story...guys...this story has MAGIC in more ways than one! The most obvious...many of the character are magical, I was not expecting this but it was a pleasant surprise.
The other magic... OK so this book has a sweet tone to it, especially compared to a lot of RH books that have a darker theme or bullies. I really enjoyed that about his book it was a serious breath of fresh air. Rowen moves back home and is instantly accepted back into her previous life. Her and the guys quickly pick up where they left off and so begins their relationship. Don't let that the sweeter tone fool you though because there is still PLENTY of 🔥🔥🔥 in this book with Rowen and her guys.
There are also some seriously shady things going on in the plot that will draw you in, I have my suspicions....that cliffhanger though! 🤬🤬🤬 I can't wait for the next book so I can see where this goes.
This is @scarlettphilipsauthor book baby and I'd say she's off to an amazing start!
I heard a lot about this book, and I finally found the time! We meet Rowen and her 5 year old daughter about 6 months after her husband passed from an illness. Rowen begins to feel lost in her current world, and with the pleading of her best friend, she decides to move home, to a magical town where she grew up.
The only thing she’s wary about is that is also where “her guys” are. She’s scared at their reaction for her leaving. Once she returns, she is reacquainted, and begins a new, flirty friendship. She also meets their friend, and slowly, she realizes they all want her, and have, for years.
As they begin this new life, a mystery is uncovered. Rowen and her guys slowly uncover clues, while testing the steamy boundaries of this new relationship. They also have to ward of traps of the town, regarding the jealousies of others around them.
All these unsettling clues lead up to a heartbreaking cliffhanger, so please proceed with tissues, and guard your heart!
Story 📖: 5/5. Total romcom, but excellent. I was swooning, and then cackling with laughter. Heat 🔥: 4/5 slow build, but WHEW! 🥵🥵🥵 I would give it more, but she has a daughter, so they have to be sneaky, and there is limited chances of heated scenes.
This is Scarlett's debut book and I think she's off to a wonderful career! I have to admit the beginning is slow with a lot of 'fluff' but it's sweet seeing how Rowen is with her daughter, Violet. Once the story picks up at around the 30-40% mark, you're golden and the story takes off. Watching Rowen reunite with past friends turn into lovers was sweet. Think of a Hallmark Card. If sweet friends to lover story is what you are looking for look no further than Scarlett's debut book. It's wasn't over the top with steam but there was enough to fog up your glasses!
For someone that doesn't read books that end in cliffhangers, Scarlett writes one hell of one herself! Girl, how could do that to us?
Congratulations Scarlett on your debut book! You're an author and I can't wait to see what you do next!
Just a note to those that might have triggers: it does talk about her past controlled environment from her ex-husband so please be aware of if that is an issue for you. But this is a journey that Rowen takes to overcome her past which she's well on her way to do.
Returning to Everton is a fun and sweet romance by Scarlett Philips.
🧁 second chance romance 🦄 smart and sassy mother and daughter 🧁 sinfully handsome MMC (5 of them) 🦄 Quirky, protective best friend 🧁 mystery from the past 🦄 🌶🌶🌶 spicy time
Rowen is a newly single mom of Violet, her five year old daughter. While trying to figure out what to do with her life, she decides while talking on the phone with her best friend since childhood, Quinn. Rowen and her daughter move back home to Everton. From there, her life gets so much more interesting and fun with never a dull moment, especially since there are 5 deliciously handsome men that are vying for her attention.
This story was so good that I couldn’t stop reading it and when I couldn’t read, I was thinking about it. This was a feel good romance with a mysterious component that needs to unraveled. This does end on a cliffhanger and I need to get the second book, because that cliffhanger was wicked. So now I’m off to do just that. Can’t wait to get it so I can see what happens next with our girl, Rowen and her men.
Amazing first book by Scarlett Phillips! I really enjoyed this book. It read as a nice combination of second chance/friends to lovers/fated mates combination. The book is a little slow at first as the author is establishing everything but for me this is fine when you gave more than one book in a series wth the sane characters.
I love the relationship between Risen and her daughter. Violet is adorable and sounds and acts way to grown-up for 5. But that is understandable since it was mostly just her and Rowen. I love how Violet can wrap the guts around her little finger. Love the bedtime story Nate tells.
I absolutely adore Rowen's men. They each bring something different to the relationship (that she needs from them). I only wish we could have heard more of the past relationship from the four guys she new growing up.
This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to red book 2!
This is my top RH ever!! This book is all about Rowen and her adorable daughter Violet. Rowen is 30, widowed, and lives with the norms but she and her daughter are magic users. The guy she was married to refused for Rowen or their daughter to use magic. He died 6 months ago and Rowen decides it's time to move back to her hometown that is full of other magic users. When Rowen moves back, she sees the guys she has always loved Mate, Hudson, the twins Kayden and Ayden, and their friend Declan. Rowen wasnt sure if they felt the same way she did but they surw let her know!!! This is the sweetest book. Rowens daughter Violet is just adorable and the way she is with the guys will make you swoon. This book pulls you in and you feel like you are part of this world. I don't want to give too much away, just go read this book now!! You won't be disappointed!! I cant wait for book 2! I am counting down the days ❤❤❤
Tried to keep at it... but... it was soooo... Boring. I swear, the dialogue blows. Even the kids talk just like all the adults... not much to keep me hanging on. Some things didn't quite add up. There was absolutely no world building. Just, ta da, there's magic. Ta da, they can do ANYTHING with it, with 0 explanations or understanding of how it works by that point. Everyone in the world knows there is magic, nothing special about it, but doesn't go into anything. Would have been better if it were contemporary instead of paranormal? Maybe. Dialogue and supporting character, the best friend of the FMC, was just an add on with virtually 0 relevance to the story. It just isn't any good. I have a lot of issues with the story. Like, how can the FMC afford everything going on? The bad guys are totally obvious, so already figured out the whole shebang from a couple chapters in. Sigh.
“This was a beautiful story!!! God, its being ages since the last time I read a sweet RH romance and I missed them so much. Rowen was an incredible mom and witch. She was easy-going, sweet and caring but also a strong witch. Her daughter was adorable too and super smart lol. Is it wrong that at some point I wanted her and Declan’s son to be together when they grow up? Hey, a girl can dream right? Back to the story, the plot was easy to follow with multiple points of view which I absolutely loved as much as the guys too. Talking about them… Kayden, Auden, Hudson and Nate were devastated when Rowen left with the her ex-husband and her returning changed everything. A so well deserved second chance at love with all of them including someone new *cough coough* Declan. Though the story wasn’t just about love and happiness, Rowen’s ex-husband played dirty and the mystery was there. The ending was somehow HFN but still I’m dying for the next book.”
This book had a fairytale feel to it. Rowe Returns home after her husband passes with her daughter Violet. Vi my not be an MC but she makes this book special. She is only 5 and has never been around magic users except her mom and occasionally Quinn. So come to Everton she gets to use her magic and learn more also. Quinn is a great side character BFF too that helps add to this book.
Rowe grow up with 4 of the 5 MCs and none them ever admitted their feelings to her growing up. Rowe also never told the guys how she felt and they were inseparable until college. Then there is the new guy best friend to the other MCs teacher and father of Logan. Logan is also a great side character and fast friend to Vi.
There's a mean girl from school still holding a grudge, why? Also, why did Rowe marry an man she refused for so long and turn her back on her town, family, and friends you ask? Oh, that's a mystery you have to read to find out.
🧁In this book we get the story of Rowen a 30 years old single mom and her sweet daughter Violet. Rowen husband recently died so they decide that is time to go back home to Everton. As soon as Rowen and Violet get to Everton we get to know the guys and omg the guys are hot 🔥🔥🔥 and loving and so sweet they help Rowen and Violet so much oh my heart they love them so much.
🧁In Everton Rowen and Violet are free to use their magic and Violet gets to explore more about magic and is so good and funny.
🧁Can we talk about the guys omg I want them for me they are so sweet. The have very different personalities but they complement each other. And the level of steamy is on high 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
🧁Be prepared this book will make you laugh, cry and will get you frustrated but is so good that is worth it.
🧁I can't wait to read next book after that ending OMG I CAN'T WAIT.
To be honest, at first glance I wasn’t really interested in this book because the cover deceived me. I assumed it was some cutesy book about a single mom. Boy was I mistaken and I’m so glad I went ahead and dove into the series!! While it was cutesy in parts with Rowan showing her daughter all about magic and the magical town of Everton, but it was also super hot finding out she has 5 guys in love with her (4 hot best friends from her childhood and their hot new roommate)! If that wasn’t enough of a reason to read, add in a whodunit mystery and a race against the clock. If anything negative could be said about the book, it’s that it’s not long enough for me LOL... I need more of Rowan and her men! I loved it enough to buy an autographed paperback from the author and plan to do the same for book 2, Surviving in Everton.
Going into this book I had high hopes that I've found some serious good book treasure... I mean how could I've not thought so when this book was given great reviews and high ratings right? Wrong! Okay, yes the heroine was sweet and her guys were sweet and supportive but my goodness this storyline was like watching wet paint dry... Snooze Fest here people.
So now if you need a book break from all the angst, adventurous, dark, erotic, dangerous, high intensity books you've been previously reading then this is the book series for you. Have fun reading it.
The only reason this book got 2.5 stars, which I rounded up to 3 stars is for the little girl (Violet). Due to her character putting a little sparkle into this storyline.
Returning to Everton by Scarlett Philips is a sweet, funny, and magical romance. It is part of a duet and let me warn you it ends on a HUGE cliffhanger BUT do not fret book 2 is already out there and waiting. Rowen (FMC) is a widow and mother who can use magic and so can her daughter. Her husband (a norm) stifled all magic use when he was alive so she is currently readjusting to life with magic. She decides to return to her magical home town, family and best friends. Rowen always loved her male best friends and she meets a new member and his young son when she arrives. This is a sweet RH romance with a little spice. It also discusses friendship and the importance of being yourself. This ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger so be ready for book 2! I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Thank you for a fun and sweet read!
This book! First of all this Author!!! Scarlett Philips hit it out thr park! Let me say that I don't usually like PNR. It wasn't my bag until I read this book. It's a normal world relatable feel with a magic twist. The author sets the story up real well and develops the characters amazingly. The FMC is smart, funny and quirky. Always sticking her foot in her mouth and also has a sassy pant daughter that is so lovable. The male love interests are of all different personalities and fun loving. My personal fav is Nate. I mean who doesn't love an alpha hot head 💜. I don't do spoilers so get over here and read this book!! It gives you the fuzzies and feels. Also read the acknowledgements at the end...😂
...I don’t do a lot of romance, but I picked this up because I’ve been hearing so much about it. I didn’t know how the guys would react to her being gone, so I love that they took her back into the fold and have never stopped loving her.
This is a second chance romance, and it is a true romance. There is some parts that hint at darkness in her past, and her deceased husband is super sketchy. I kind of what to smack him, and I don’t doubt that you will too. I can see that there will be upsets in the next book, and I’m excited to see how the guys handle the info in the cliffhanger. Cause...is a doozy. I may have thrown my phone.
This is definitely a book that served as a sweet, low on drama and angst palate cleanser. The author mixed a compelling main plot surrounding Rowen and the return to the city she grew up in after her husband dies.
It's some sort of second chance love story, where we find out what exactly kept Rowen away for so long. I love how her best friend Quinn never strayed from her side, supporting Rowen despite not agreeing with some of her decisions over the past few years.
And then there's her reconnecting to the boys she grew up with, now men, who never seemed to have forgotten her and want to grab the chance of being in her life again. It's refreshing to read something that focuses on real relationship building and I am looking forward to read the next book!
*Sigh* This was a really sweet story! I really appreciated the FMC being an adult of 3o yrs old, and having a sweet little child, with loving and understanding mates/friends. This is a friends-to-lovers story full of sweetness, love, understanding, friendship, some steam, humor and magic! It is 4 stars from me because it was quite slow-paced for my taste, and I'd really appreciate more, hot, sexy times :)
So, blend some sweetness with a dash of love, a pinch of humor sprinkled with magic, and you have the potion for true happiness <3
I look forward to the next book!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
How do you leave a book like that? AHHH the cliffhanger was for real and goodness I am reading for the 2nd book, NOW.
By the looks of the cover of this book I thought it would be a cute little contemporary romance, but never in a million years would I think that this would be a Reverse Harem and one that was done RIGHT.
I do love steamy books but sometimes you don't need all the steam to get a story across and make it very well written.
I love how the world around them is built with Magic and detailed. I really enjoyed the beautiful writing when it came to her daughter and the town.
I felt the story had a lot of filler and details we didn't need, the dialogue of characters felt a little immature for some of their ages, particularly the guys, and it wasn't smooth and natural - the amount of times Violet says "mommy" in each sentence talking to her mother, number of times they say the other person's names in text messages... little things that stand out as they feel forced and unnatural. Overall, I was curious about one storyline but I think I know how that will pan out, and just didn't really connect with the characters enough to want to keep reading..
