Lightning, monsters, giants, OH MY! All in a day's work for this newly awakened teenage titan, Missy Tiller. She just wants to make it to her senior year, but with the wrath of the gods bearing down on her, fall semester seems out of reach. Does she have what it takes to protect those she cares for, or will she meet the fate of so many titans before her in the epic clash of immortals?
E. D. Watley writes from his home in southern California, where the sun is hot and the masks are plenty. On his downtime, he enjoys hanging out with friends and family, learning home improvements, (pre-covid) boxing, and of course writing.
Favorite authors: R. A. Salvatore, Dean Koontz, Matthew Dicks, Richard A. Clarke, Terry Goodkind, John Green, and few lists would be complete without J. K. Rowling and George R. R. Martin (including his sci fi).
Stay safe out there everyone! And if you have to be on lockdown at least you have a good book.
The first book in a series, following Missy Tiller, a newly awakened teen titan. A girl who just wishes to make it to her senior year of high school, she is forced to face the wrath of the gods, lightning, monsters, giants, and more. She is fighting through her fears of facing the same fate as many titans before her, in an attempt to protect those she cares about. This book is truly an epic clash of immortals.
In a similar vein as Percy Jackson - with teenagers interacting with the pantheon of Greek Gods and monsters - so, I would totally recommend this book to people who enjoyed that series. I truly loved the characters of this novel, especially Missy, our heroine. She was a very authentic character who was easy to root for. I really enjoyed how her responses and reactions to the fantastical and godly situations she found herself in were very realistic. I also loved the friendship between Missy and Litha. Friendships are one of my favorite relationships to read about and see celebrated and this story did an amazing job with it.
The writing was also very nice in this. Easy to get immersed in and very rich with its descriptions. And the action of this story comes fast and is fun to go through, making the pacing of the story really good.
This is a really fun and fresh take on the classic Greek mythology and tales of adventure; especially with a Black character as our main character. Black folks, who I feel are often left out of Greek mythology retellings and stories inspired by it.
I really enjoyed this and totally recommend it. And am looking forward to the next installment!
