I loved this book. That's it. Bye.
I knew I had to buy this book the moment Saloni announced that she was writing it.

I'll admit that the first few chapters didn't pull me in. They were interesting, but I wasn't hooked. But when I read the 5th chapter, I absolutely got sucked into the book.

I loved that the author used personal experiences in her book, it helped me relate and feel empathetic towards her. I could especially relate to Chapter 28th, where she talks about her grandmother, because I have the same relationship with my family. It helped me understand the author more and made the reading a very personal experience. I also loved the mentions of her brother. Honestly, a very frequent thought I had was "I wish I had a brother like that".

The author also talks about stuff I never actually thought about, like why people constantly ask feminists "if they'd do this in front of their father", or how whenever men do something for their own house, it's seen as "help". I loved that it brought these things to my attention and made me think about them.

I also loved that the author addressed issues like privilege and 'nudity'. I'm also glad that she addressed how feminism benefits everyone, and not just women.

Most of all, I'd like to thank the author, because I read parts of this book out to my mother, which led to us having a genuine discussion. This book helped my mother to understand feminism better. And I thank the author for that.

This is the first ever time I am reading an actual book, and I cannot believe that I have read almost 200 pages in like 3 days. If you are a feminist or not, you must read this book, this book will open your eyes, this book will open a door to the real world, this book will help you understand your worth as well as teach you so many things. If I could give this book a 100 stars, I would do it. The first and the best book I have read so far and I am so proud of myself that I am learning and unlearning so many things because of this book. I would recommend each and everyone of you to buy this book. Ps: This book was gifted by my dad on my birthday (he knows me better).
Love you Saloni. Thankyou for writing this book.

MUST READ
This is the best book I have read so far. In this book every para...every line makes sense. This book should be read by all. I salute Saloni Ma'am for writing such a wonderful book. She has written topics on point. This book is more like a direct communication with her. She spoke about the various topics we notice and ignore....It really takes courage to do that...and I love you ma'am for voicing your opinion so well!!
I love you ma'am and I really loved the book!!

This book is empowering. This is the kind of book everyone should read atleast once. I won't give any description because I don't want to ruin the reading experience for anyone. The author is herself an inspiration for me and I have learned and unlearned a lot from her over the past few years but reading this book is a whole new experience. Read the book. Don't miss out!

This book is food for soul, if you have always felt conflicted and confused, by the simplest practices in indian households and society. It made me realise I wasn't the only one who felt this conflicted. A wonderful read ,an amazing finder to practice self-love and stand up for equality

I have been following Saloni Chopra on Instagram for almost a year now and I knew her journey to the awesomeness she is wasn’t as perfect as the womxn herself but reading the book made it all the more real. From the second chapter to the very end, reading the book was easy and very difficult at the same time, the feeling in unexplainable. It’s a beautiful book with ugly parts that sadly so many womxn could relate to. Like she does for each of her IG post, Saloni hasn’t left anything to wrongly interpret. All of her claims are provided with a good and rational explanations. The book brings up a lot to discuss on the dining table and with it the courage too.

Completed the book on women's day!
I have to admit, I wanted to read this book because I knew I could relate to Saloni's struggles in the context of a modern, independent woman who gets trampled by society albeit if more privileged than other women who have it worse. And I wasn't disappointed. Although I agree the first few chapters felt a little wonky, the book picked up pace and material after that and it was raw, witty, uncomfortable, in your face, demanding answers, making you curious and comforting at the same time. There were quite so many moments when I was brought face-to-face with something that I just hadn't considered before. The chapter called "Help" blew me away. I could not believe I hadn't seen this obvious way the gender roles get perpetuated in our households. The whole book read like a gorgeous result of very thorough introspection and understanding of layers and layers of the relationship of women with society.

"Too Much Trouble" was again a very heartfelt, painful chapter to read. I got teary-eyed a lot of times while reading the book because of how it hit home for me, for my family dynamics, for the things and experiences I've had and what I see around myself.

All in all, I'm glad I got to read this. I'm glad somebody has written a book in the modern Indian context because god knows, we all need somebody we can relate to, somebody who's been there and done all of that and somebody who tells us we're not doing anything wrong by choosing for ourselves or going away from a certain path. Amazing book. I'll be coming back to it often and I can't wait to share it with the people I love. <3

A must read! If you're on social media - YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK. It talks about all the walls that we need to bring down. The future isn't female or male - IT'S FEMINIST - inclusive of all people! Intersectionality at its best.
Also a plus point - the book cover is gorgeous and the paper quality is better than most books I have in my closet. The book also has ruled pages after every chapter (every chapter ends with a question that compels you to think beyond the binary!)

If you have or have ever had doubt as to why feminism is needed, what it does, does it even matter if its coming from a place of privilige, then you need to get your hands on this masterpiece. An opinion and perspective of a feminist women that'll allow you to see the world from a different pov. Radical is the word to describe the book!

A must must must have/read book for every person dealing with any type of struggles or issues(mainly feminism). This book is very amazing and does not seem just a book, it is more than a book, a kind of human to human conversation. It helps in dealing with self-realisation and self-love. It focuses on removing the inequality of genders and providing freedom of choices to an individual.

Unlike most bloggers turned authors, Saloni does not repeat the same content. Does she say something absolutely new or remarkable? No. But does she leave you breathless, gasping at things you have known your whole life? Absolutely.

First, the cons. It is apparent that Saloni did not want her words to be misunderstood so she uses italicized sentences maybe a tad too much. Some ideas are explained again and again in different ways, while I understand the need, it does get a bit tiring. Personally, I was not a fan of the exercises or the your notes part. I would have preferred if the notes part were at the last section instead of between chapters. Again, if you are into that sorta thing, it might not be an issue.

Now, onto the pros! I annotated probably 80% of the book and I don't usually do that lightly. I would say this definitely should be in the list of books to read early in your feminist journey. But, even though you know stuff and you have been an active advocate for quite some time, Saloni still makes you think and rethink. What I felt as a desi woman is that it is hard to find any form of media that speaks about our experience. How it goes beyond arranged marriage or dowry. The pain of living as a woman, the pain of living as a feminist. It validates you. I felt Saloni holding my hand telling me hey I see you. And it is a wonderful thing to be acknowledged, to hear a similar voice.

I will definitely encourage anyone, whether you are white or straight or identify as a cis man, to read this book. At the end, I felt as if I am beginning my life again and you are not the same person before you read it.

The book is a very interesting read. So many places it gets you thinking how we have been conditioned to think in certain ways by family and society. We might not even realize we are part of the regressive society where we don't give equal opportunities to men and womxn.

Also there might be chapters you do not relate too but that is ok too, you do get to understand different perspectives.

I even liked how she had questions for the readers and had spaces for us to write our thoughts, making the whole reading process go deeper.

I wish I could add snippets/images from the book.

Definitely do give the book a read.

This book is definitely one of the fundamental reads for understanding feminism.

Saloni shares her experiences of facing gender-discrimination in this country and I couldn’t agree more to her opinions on the same. Almost every womxn across the country would be able to relate to the issues presented in the book.

I love how Saloni tries to shatter the stereotypes loaded in the word “feminist” by the society. What does it mean to be a feminist?

“Feminism for me is as minuscule as a girl demanding to wear shorts at home, or spreading her legs as she binge watches TV with her brother who does the same. Feminism is girl demanding that she be allowed to play volleyball, football, or whatever the hell she likes, instead of being forced to learn to make round rotis. Feminism is her desire to feel an orgasm, to learn more about her vagina and what turns her on. Feminism is about her right to education, her own body, as well as her contraceptive rights. Feminism is her basic right to life-the same right to life that we celebrate when it’s a boy.

Yes, feminism is intersectional and racial and political. Feminism is radical, and feminism is the equality of sexes. Feminism is educating womxn and eradicating female foeticide. Feminism is body positivity and sexual awareness. But, in which world did we decide that feminism can only be one or the other?

As I see it, you don’t have to be an activist to be a feminist”

Saloni talks about how sometimes “women” themselves are enablers of patriarchy and how important it is to accept this fact to be able to eliminate this from our society, because let’s face it, some women do actually believe in the norms the society has set for us. That’s what years of social conditioning does to people. She talks about how this gender-based conditioning has made the lives of women difficult, because they have to make a choice of having an identity & ambition versus having a family, which is extremely unfair.

The other 2 chapters I absolutely loved are “Help” and “Tit”. Quoting down some excerpts from these chapters.
“We naturally tend to refer to anything a man does as help, but anything a womxn does as her responsibility, which is why when a man does something that you subconsciously believe in your head to be a womxn’s job, the man is clearly helping and deserves appreciation. Seldom would you hear a man say that his wife/girlfriend/mother helps him if the things they’re doing are considered to be his responsibility to begin with”.

“We minimise a woman’s worth to her body parts,
But demand that she plays no part in owning them”
Who decides what’s empowering for womxn? Society? Men? You and Me? Because there’s barely anything empowering about snatching away a womxn’s right to decide for herself-that, in fact, is control.”

With the current atmosphere of misconceptions and stereotypes around feminism, I would highly recommend everyone to grab a copy of this book. Let's take up more space and raise better men.

Firstly without any delay- go and buy it. MUST READ.
I have been following saloni for years and the moment she announced that her book is going to be released...i knew I'm gonna read it.
The best is WOMXN. You need to read to understand this.
I love how she shares her real life experiences to show the unfairness in the society towards womxn. From all the childhood moments to the day she was in depression...i resonate with her. From her letter to anti- feminist friend to the friday #metoo talk..and that roti incident with Rahul I relate. I relate every single words she wrote. The way she depicts the unfairness towards womxn in society is eye opening. This book is about the types of assault, self love, choices, self doubt, relationships and how womxn do things for others knowingly/ unknowingly by sacrificing herself.... Its about the space and equality for LGBTQ, queers, men etc.
I am gonna read it whenever i doubt myself for sure. A book an every person should read. ❣
Lots of love and power to you Saloni...

My God who buys this crap.

This isn't feminism. This isn't equality. You can't ask equality by not wearing bra cause guys don't. I mean you can walk around streets without bra that's entirely your choice but that's certainly not equality.

The entire book is about how women should be OK with their bodies(should walk around naked) and men are just dogs. I agree but why can't men be OK with just being dogs. Why is that a problem. God literally created us animals like that. The entire animal kingdom behaves that way. Watch some documentaries. Some birds have a pretty dance routine so they could impress females and get laid. God intended us to be that way. Obviously raping isn't Ok but again entire race can't be blamed for some men.

Forget the one who wrote this but I'm actually physically concerned about the ones who reads and rates this 5 star. What should be the IQ of that person jeez.

Rescued by a feminist is one of the best feminist text I have read till now and trust me I have read a few classics also. The book talks about feminism in such a way that people of any age group can resonate with the words. It is very well written with accounts of personal experiences that most of us can relate with. This book should be a part of school curriculum so that we have more feminists in this country and to make this place better for all genders. Author's words will make way through your skin and heart and stay there forever and for me her words have motivated me, inspired me to start a revolution for freedom within myself. Maybe one day, I will start a movement for womxn rights.

One quote that's stuck in my mind and heart is- "You don't have to be an activist to be a feminist."

The future is feminist so everyone should read this book.

This book is like looking yourself in the mirror and feeling similar emotions what several of the women felt around the world. It is relatable, raw and real. Don’t go by the name, this book is for everyone. You may or may not agree with multiple things, but that’s alright it’s a personal takeaway or acceptance, however, at the core rests the reality of Womxn by and large. Chapter 30 was a painful reminder as to the varied nature of sexual assault inflicted upon womxn since childhood to adulthood, which by and large would have happened in your known circles too. Saloni has lucidly explained nuances around womxn and feminism with perfect analogies. This book is a keepsake for sure. Handout this book to everyone, not just womxn.

I loved the book...saloni has changed my POV my whole opinion about women's rights equality feminism not just by writing this book but also through her insta captions her thoughts are just amazing.... she taught many of us how to fight for our rights how to speak when someone is making you feel disgust...how to give an answer to somebody who's questioning your POV thoughts and opinions...and when someone is trying to portray your image as a bad one how to raise your voice against it. And I must say that each n every womxn should read this book and know about her rights. Lots of love and power to you SALONI 🌸💜

This book was a lot to me in terms of aligning myself with so many instances and learning new to understanding a lot of other things too. The horrible anecdotes of Saloni herself and her acquaintances felt like I was looking even deeper at what’s wrong with this society and I was not surprised. At so many points I believe even I was ignorantly carrying the flags of patriarchy but I learnt.
This book is so so blunt that ab average man would cry at the end if he cares for the women in his life or may be he won’t if he cares for masculinity.
I loved it! Every page of it! Every story! Every lesson!

I love this book. I LOVE SALONI CHOPRA. Her thoughts makes me feel that I also belong to this world (mostly I don't feel like that). I feel the same about India, what you said about Bombay.. I have love-hate relationship with India..
I admire the way you put your words and it makes me aware of my thoughts.. I can't put it so clearly. I can't explain anything like you do.. That's why I wanted to read this book. It's 5 on 5.

A must read! This book captures so many important topics that are not spoken about enough but are vital to be discussed. It's an honest take on experiences in her life that are so relatable, specially as a woman. It'll make you think & question our societal norms that we tend to blindly follow. Also, you'll definitely learn why feminism is so bloody important in this day & age.
